@cschmitz110515- I would consider the pads for her but she is up and down during the night from her ad to her favorite spot in the bathroom and with how she gets up , I am pretty sure the pads would just get moved and wadded up.

Yesterday on my day off I had a little bit of a scare with our other doggo. He had vomited his entire dinner the night before and seemed to not feel well . By morning , he was acting really sick and painful in the stomach area . I was concerned about the rocks he had vomited up two weeks prior that maybe there was another one causing an obstruction so off the to vet we went. An xray and exam and a whole big vet bill but no obstruction thankfully. His intestines were very inflamed so we suspect he must have just gotten into something , we just don't have an idea what. He stays in our yard and there is nothing in there bad to eat. Today he's slightly better.

Yesterday was a full day of property chores and ended with a painful knee that I have been nursing(my good knee) for a couple months now. It aches most of the time and worsens with certain excercises but I have been managing it with meloxicam. Yesterday I went to get on one of the horses for a ride and as I pushed off the ground to hop on , I must have twisted funny but I heard and felt a very loud pop and then intense excruciating pain. I had to get off the horse and was unable to ride. I could not bear any weight for a while last night but that slowly got better after an icing session. I don't know what I did. Today I am icing again as it remains pretty sore . I have full range of motion but it hurts to move it and walk. I am really frustrated at this. I am just over a year from the meniscus surgery on my left knee and have worked so hard to build strength in my quads to avoid future issues but here I am . I guess I need to call the doc on Monday and atleast figure out what is going on .

Sorry for the long post again.
    JFT

Work on the continued window cleaning project

Try to ride my horse if knee pain gets less. ( we have a show coming up in May and now I am not sure if this knee thing is going to impact this plan)

    Other housecleaning

    Have a good saturday everyone

In case anyone is interested in this, I thought I would share as I am doing some further digging on skeletal muscle versus muscle mass.

ChatGPT tells me this , (love it or hate ) it gives me a slightly better understanding. However in order to build skeletal muscle it just goes back to resistance training and progressive overload with a focus on protein. Which I already do so I think at the very least it goes back to taking these numbers from a scale with a grain of salt. The best ways to get real numbers are DEXA or MRI..

Measurement Differences: Muscle mass includes all types of muscles in your body—skeletal, smooth (like those in your organs), and cardiac (your heart). Skeletal muscle, on the other hand, refers specifically to the muscles attached to your bones that help with movement. It's possible to have a high overall muscle mass but a lower proportion of skeletal muscle.

    1. Body Composition Variations: If your body composition includes a higher percentage of smooth or cardiac muscle, it might skew the skeletal muscle metric lower, even if your total muscle mass is high.
    2. Measurement Tools: Devices or scales that measure body composition can sometimes be inconsistent or inaccurate. Factors like hydration levels, time of day, or even how the device calculates metrics can affect the readings.
    3. Training Focus: If your workouts emphasize endurance or cardiovascular activities over strength training, your skeletal muscle mass might not develop as much, even if your overall muscle mass is high.

@HappyDonkey75 Sorry to hear about your knee and the other doggo. Hope things get resolved and you both heal! Thanks for the info on muscle mass, etc. I had a male office mate who was 6'2" and thin build. Yet his health assessment called him obese. The numbers don't know everything. Mainly because he was a runner & cross-trained at least 2x per week and had high % of muscle mass. We figured his muscle weighed so much that he was "obese" and had a laugh.

@HappyDonkey75 Sorry to hear about your knee! Ouch! I hope it isn't anything serious and it heals quickly for you. thanks for the info about the scale. I have a Renpho scale with all those metrics and I have no idea what they mean, except that I am very out of shape and my metabolic age is years older than I actually am. Yay. 🙄 I hope your dog feels better soon. Glad there wasn't an obstruction!

Reading you and @cschmitz110515 write about your dogs slowing down made me think about my own little buddy. Our dog (Cattle Dog mix) is like our baby and I just hate seeing her slow down. We got her in the fall of 2018 as a rescue and they said at that time they thought she was about 2 1/2 years old. So I'm guessing she's almost 9 now. I can't stand thinking about losing her, although she's not my first dog and I know it's inevitable. She is the first dog I've ever had that I was home with all the time, so I think I've just bonded in a different way.

@cschmitz110515 I live less than a mile away from Lambeau so I am really tentatively excited about the draft. The traffic is going to suck for sure. Should be okay for most of the places we go though. We are NW from Lambeau, in a neighborhood off Military Ave. I can't even fathom how we are going to accommodate that many people. I haven't gotten a pass to go to the draft and can't decide if I should or not. I mean, its the closest I'll ever get to one, literally, but that's just too many people for me. Have you heard who the headliners will be for the concert yet? I have not…

The military must be doing touch-and-goes from the airport today or something because we have had fighter jets flying over our house for the past hour or two. They're cool to see but loud!

I finally set up an appointment for a haircut! I cant get in until May 8th with my girl, but I am so excited that I finally have enough hair to need a trim. I stopped into the salon to set up the appointment and she said we can shape it and cut off the "chemo ends". I'm curious to see if it's still really curly after she trims it. Right now it looks like I have a perm, and it wasn't curly like that before chemo. It'll be interesting! (It's the small things…lol)

Eating dinner out with friends. The husband has just learned he has Parkinson’s. Damn! He doesn’t want to dwell on it though, so we’re just going to try to distract him. Can have what I want at restaurant.

Didn’t log or weigh yesterday. Also didn’t eat yesterday. Hubby was very sick. Every time I thought about eating, He go sick. I literally had 1 cracker yesterday while heating up soup which I threw away. Hopefully I don’t get whatever it is that he has.

Needless to say our evening plans were canceled, as are my Sunday plans. Was supposed to do a bike ride this afternoon with a group of friends.

Hopefully when he gets up he’ll feel better than yesterday, but rumor had it this is a 48hr bug. Wish me luck and bring on the Lysol.

@pridesabtch - Thank you for your message. I didn't write it clearly, though, because it's the husband in the couple who are our friends. My husband is ok! But still sad though. This man has always been very active. Going to be hard for him.

Happy Sunday, JFT friends! Hope you are having a nice weekend!

My day started out kind of ho-hum but then I decided I felt well enough to go to church in person instead of watching online, and I’m so glad I went! It was a really good sermon, beautiful music, wonderful fellowship and I left feeling so much better. I’ve had a lot of anxiety lately, and when I left church today I felt hopeful and much more at peace about the things I have been worrying about…mostly health related since I have follow-up CT scans and brain MRI coming up next month, not to mention the medical bills that come with a cancer diagnosis. Ugh. BUT… worrying about it won’t change one single thing and only steals the joy from today, so I’m really trying to focus on things I CAN control like exercise and eating healthier. Some days are easier than others, but after today’s sercvoce, I’m feeling really happy and much more at peace. Yay! (More than anyone really wanted to know, I’m sure! Sorry! Lol)

After church, I stopped and got my free YMCA membership (Silver Sneakers) so I can start going to the StayStrong program again. I’m excited! 😁 I think I’ll go tomorrow when it’s maybe less busy to check out the equipment and check out the pool area and the pool schedule. Swimming would be such a good overall workout and easy on the joints too. 😊👏👏👏

@more_freggies76 I’m so sorry to hear about your friend with Parkinson’s. What a lousy hand to be dealt. 🫂🥺 it’s nice you were able to do something normal to distract him for a bit. I know when I’m dealing with chemo or anything scary like that, I appreciate the people who talk to me about normal everyday stuff. ❤️

@pridesabtch I hope your hubby feels better soon! Hopefully you won’t get it too. Ugh…. 🙏🤞🤢❤️

@cschmitz110515 curious if you got your NFL pass to attend the Draft activities or if you are planning to stay as far away as you can get from the chaos? 😂🤣 I got mine yesterday just in case I decide to go with my DIL and grandsons to check it out….I’m still undecided. 😬😎

    Starting over weight - March 20, 2025: 205

April 14: 192.4 - False low as I effectively fasted over the weekend. With hubby sick, I had no appetite and a fear of catching his bug.

Didn't get much done over the weekend except watching out for sick hubby. I am not a good nurse, so I say watching not caring for. I mean I handed him a bucket and made sure he had fluids, but he mostly cleaned up after himself and slept. I sprayed Lysol and tidied the rest of the house a bit. Other than playing with the dogs and a bit of laundry nothing got done. I did go to the grocery Sunday and get some easy to eat foods for him to slowly start adding back. I also got groceries to stock my fridge at work for the next 2 weeks. Having healthy options at work have helped me a lot. Even if we do go out to dinner, I am not starving and am able to moderate what I eat better.

Plans for today include work, teaching spin and going to mom's. I haven't been there since Thursday. I normally would have gone Saturday but with the sickness in my house I decided to stay away.

    JFT Monday

    • Up with pups at 6:30 ✔️
    • Weigh in ✔️
    • Work by 7:30 ✔️
    • Approve time cards ✔️
    • Fruit for breakfast✔️
    • Meetings
    • Sandwich and veggies for lunch
    • Log food
    • Stay under goal calories
    • More meetings
    • Home by 4:30
    • Let dogs out
    • Spin class at 6:00
    • Mom's at 7:00
    • Figure out dinner
    • Home by 8:00
    • Shower
    • Bed by 10:00

@PackerFanInGB Yes, I downloaded the NFL OnePass. Mainly to see all the info that's available, like road closures & traffic. Not sure I'll use it or even go near the stadium district during that time. All the people! Plus the cost to park is higher than I'm probably willing to pay. Normal in a big city, pricey for here. Not sure what homeowners are charging to park on their lawns. According to the app, there's contact info to reserve a spot at homes/businesses. The city is even renting parking space at Colburn Park.

My church is 1/2 mile from the stadium & for home games during football season, various church groups park cars in the lot to raise funds. I almost had to work a parking shift during the draft, but just learned yesterday, Discover Green Bay is renting the lot for overflow buses.

With my nephew coming to stay and attend the draft (he works for a sports marketing & media business, with various contracts in the NFL), I may join him if he wishes, but probably not. I'm assuming it will be business & networking (& fun) for him.

Forget to tell you, we live 2 miles north of the airport and west of NWTC. We watched/heard the fighter jets doing their drills the other day.

Glad you got to attend church in person and felt peace from that. Hugs to you!

Recap 4/13 Palm Sunday ~ Cloud cover but warm (for time of year), hope to walk dog before predicted rain, but she's a little under the weather… maybe we'll stick to neighborhood cul de sacs just in case?

    • Church 9:00 / youth fundraising breakfast after 🙂
    • Hot dogs, pasta salad & veg for supper / limit snacks & sweets ~ veggie straws / 80 oz. water ~ I think so / log all food with eating at church, not even going to try to guess / net calories zero 😛 most likely not
    • OT exercises (6x) ~ only 4, tape 30 min. (3x) ~ only 2, putty (2x) ~ only 1, massage scar 😀 not feeling the need so much & Aaron told me to use finger/hand as normally as possible to make sure I can do things that I want to… other than usual edema in affected finger, no problems / walk dog? doggo a bit unwell & slept most of the day, better now / min. 5000 steps ~ only 3600 a lazy day at home
    • Keeping things a bit light today: final dusting in family room / Easter decorations or, as hubby says, "the bunny explosion" ~ no bunnies out yet but brought 3 boxes & misc. up from basement, front door hanger is up, and got seasonal towels out of storage / do NOT fill Easter baskets with candy (that is reserved for next weekend) / review/download clinician's notes from OT appt / rehearse music / review recipes, meal plan & make grocery list / read / digital decluttering / other? completed "pain" survey for OT/healthcare, decluttered in bedroom (a little at a time LOL), refilled both birdbaths, shopped online with hubby for replacement light fixture in bathroom 😁 ta-da!

JFT 4/14 M ~ Windy day, mild temps… doggo feeling better & hubby may walk her around neighborhood while I do my stuff in the house.

    • Leftovers for supper / limit snacks & sweets / 80 oz. water / log all food / net calories zero
    • OT exercises ~ I will keep up with these before my (possibly final) OT appt on Th / min. 5000 steps
    • Choir rehearsal 6:30 (upstairs in music room this time) / shower before
    • One spring cleaning task / load/run dishwasher / wash pots & pans / 2 loads laundry / usual M garbage chores / light dusting in family room & start decorating / do NOT fill Easter baskets with candy (reserved for the weekend) / final meal plans & grocery list / read / digital decluttering / other?

Hello JFT friends. It’s very windy here today. My wind chimes are playing all kinds of tunes. 😁☀️

Tomorrow, I have an appointment at oncology and it’s my longer appointment because I will get labs drawn, an injection and an infusion through my port of a bone strengthener. I also see the Dr for a touch base. I’m already feeling anxious about it. Today will be spent trying to distract myself and catch my negative thoughts and replace them with facts. My thoughts feel true but very often aren’t factual. I have to remind myself of that. My brain goes to scary places prior to these appointments sometimes. 🤦🏻‍♀️🫣😬 The fact is that today I am healthy and I have no reason to fear the infusion. I sure hope these appointments get less scary with time.

@cschmitz110515 I agree! Too many people! I think it’s more than I want to deal with, but at the same time…what a fun thing to experience with my grandsons! I’ll never get the opportunity again. I’ll bet the people parking cars around there will be raking in the bucks! My son said he could get us close and drop us off and come back to get us so I think parking might not be an issue for us if we go, but I don’t know exactly which roads are blocked off yet, so not sure how close he can get us. He has more confidence in that idea than I do, actually. Colburn Park for parking? That’s not even all that close! It’s going to be a *kitten* show in our neighborhood, I’m afraid. We are very near the corner of Military & Lombardi…. What a great opportunity for your nephew! Sounds like you’re far enough away to not have too much congestion on your roads…fingers crossed! 🤞

    Focus and plan tomorrow

    1. In meetings most of the day. Need to dinner prep. Hmmm ground beef
    2. Keep it simple. Hamburger no bun and roasted sweet potatoes.
    3. log before eating vs eating then logging. Helps make decisions and less mindless eating

One day at a time Down 11 pounds since New Years Slow but age is a factor So I’ll take what I can get
