Got all my holiday shirts put away. I had to admit that I’m probably not going to be wearing my shorts or short shirts so I cleaned those drawers out and arranged them. Boo

Carla – of course you can rejoin, you don’t even have to ask. How have you been?

Barbara – so glad your nephew was able to get a bed

Rita – I always say that the only thing constant in life is change

Got everything out of the closet. As I suspected, the legos were at the very back. Vince WILL NOT be happy when he sees what has to be put back. Oh well…….

Seriously, I can’t talk now, which is really killing me...lol I did text the mgr. At BK and told her that I’ve lost my voice. I don’t feel bad any other way (not achey or temperature) so I felt there wasn’t a reason I couldn’t work, especially since it’s only for a few hours in the back. I told her that if she didn’t want me to come in, that’s fine. Well, she said I should so I’ll go in tomorrow. Vince isn’t happy. But what am I going to do, just sit around? He doesn’t want me to help bring in the Christmas decorations. I don’t want him to do it all himself, so we shall see what will happen. Didn’t get many steps in since I didn’t even take my walk

Jess did call to say that Colby is getting more attached to the kitten. Who knows what’ll happen? I do know that she’s stated that if they were to keep the kitten, the dog would have to go. He does have anxiety issues, but he’s a very good dog. I know she said she was going to try some other med to see if that helps with the anxiety.

KJ – so good to hear from you. Hope you remembered to breathe! Sorry to hear of all the downs and glad to hear the ups

Vince put everything back in the closet and didn’t get upset like I thought he would. I suspect part of it is that he was feeling sorry for me.

Allie – happy birthday to Dan. Question – how can someone who’s so young have a 40 year old?

Vicki – sure hope your hubby gets his hip taken care of. It must be horrible for you!

Guess I should get back to bed

Cold night last night. Our first for a while. It's nice to see some sun and blue sky. It's been nothing but grey, grey, grey, for months.

I woke up this morning and wrote one sentence of my book. Hooray! I will resume after breakfast. I was inspired by watching 'Vera' last night. The agony of big decisions.
It's the last ever 'Vera' tonight. I've just read the book it's taken from. Definitely written with TV filming in mind. I found that obvious and rather annoying. I love Brenda Blethyn though.

So sorry to hear of people's woes. Vicki - I do hope something can be done soon for your husband. The wait for my first operation was the longest time in my life. I remember it as a dark tunnel. The pain at night was the worst.

KJ - Wow! So great to see you! :p I have no idea how you do all that you do. But we're all different! :p As long as you are healthy, that's what matters.
But I was really pleased to see you. B)

    Welcome back Carla!

Hoping all goes well for those with difficulties. I think of all of you often. <3

Looking forward to getting back into my old routine. I do love it so.

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Done my 400 words. Feels wonderful. B)
The sun is shining through my bedroom window.

Tracey - Love your 'Winter Wonderland'. :D

Mo - That was some trip! You and Flea have really hit the sun. :D Love the wildlife.

Lisa - Could you remind me how to get to your videos. I can't find them. :|

Love you all, now to wash my hair. Xxxxxxxx Heather UK

First bicycle ride of the year! Second day of exercise for the year!

Today's ride was great ... beautiful day. I am loving living near roads I can cycle from home.

    1yxj1w1kqbof.png

Speaking of second day of exercise for the year ...

Back on Page 1, I mentioned S.M.A.R.T goals and I mentioned that one of my goals is to improve my fitness level. I also said that I've got specific details for each of my rather vague goals.

    So, for example.

    Goal: Improve fitness level

Detailed goal: Exercise for at least 300 days of the year.

Specific - I plan to exercise for at least 300 days of the year.
Measurable - I will log my exercise so that I can identify whether or not I have made my goal.
Attainable - I have done it before! Not in the past 2 years, but before that. So it can be done.
Relevant - I want to improve my fitness level and I know that one element of accomplishing that is to exercise regularly. Exercising 300 days of the year would be exercising regularly.
    Time-Bound - One year.

I could be more detailed if I wanted by defining "exercise". It could be a specific type of exercise or a length of time or reaching a certain heart rate.

I might go with "at least 15 minutes of exercise". I'm active as much as possible throughout the day, but this would be 15 minutes of "actual" exercise. I'll see how that goes. :)

But I also wanted to point out that by choosing 300 days of exercise, that leaves me 65 days (over 5 days each month) where I may not exercise. That gives me flexibility. :)

    Good Morning!
I am proud of me.....I had a couple of hours in the evening and was going to work on cross stitch while watching TV. Realized I had a few things that I wanted to finish up before I sat down. One was watering plants and cleaning up around them. By the time I put away last load of laundry and took care of plants, I only had an hour to do something fun. The cross stitch was just going to take too long to set up, so decided to color. Got that out, then couldn't find the purple pencils I had been using for a butterfly. Here is the proud part.....I just sat down and colored other portions of page! Normally I would have given up the coloring and either spent hours looking for missing pencils or put it all away and done nothing. So had an hour of TV and coloring. :)

Sounds like we took full advantage of our day off yesterday! I dusted (only planned on doing bedroom but continued until I was tired of dusting). Got linens changed and laundry done. Helped DH with a project. Put almost all the Christmas away, my cards are still on the wall as I am still enjoying them. Read for a short while. Got massage. Put chemicals in hot tub. It has been neglected :( I may have to change water, but that will have to wait as temps are getting ready to plummet. Cooked dinner, cleaned kitchen, balanced checkbooks, paid bills, and unsubscribed to 6 emails.....like Tracey finally sat down at 9 pm, but proud of all I accomplished!

    Carla Welcome back!

    Mo and Flea Lovely pictures!

Machka You amaze me with how thought out your goals are.

Lisa I am proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone! I will watch today as I was already in bed with DH asleep when I saw your post.

Heather Thank you for the list. I have saved it! Oh, that reminds me what I learned yesterday-hehe! I learned a different way to copy /paste yesterday! I couldn't think of something I learned when writing out my GLAD gratitudes last night.

Michele You are right that there is lots of crud going around. I hope you get to feeling better! I can't believe BK wanted you to come in....SMH! I didn't feel old when both my daughters turned 40. I felt old when my granddaughter turned 21! The years really do fly by!

I will close for now as I need to accomplish a few things before heading back to work for the last "Monday" of these past two weeks. It really has felt like we have already had a month of weekends and Mondays. That is what makes middle of the week holidays so hard.

I have logged foods for 3 days! Cookies and all! I have made the best choices I could at the time for several things. I have met a couple of deadlines without stressing. These are all accomplishments in my book.

Barbie, Vicki, and Carol Hugs held extra long for you all!

Kelly-KJ Thank you for stopping in! Always happy to see familiar ladies!

    Be kind to yourselves today!
Make the best choices you can in the moment!
    Breathe!

    Much love,
Kylia in Ohio where it is cold but not as cold as it is going to get!

I have the soul of a project manager.

But if I want to get stuff done, that's what I've got to do. I don't like the idea of ending a year in exactly the same place in life as when I started the year. Something needs to change ... preferably for the better, of course! I need to have solved something, learned something, improved something, done something.

I'm actually not at all comfortable with my first general goal right now.

Intellectual/Occupational/Financial or Education/Career: Advancing my career. Moving from reasonable to proficient at SQL. Improving my knowledge of data analyses. Brushing up on cost accounting.

The goal is to expand my skillset and to improve our financial situation.

It's much too general and I don't have specific ideas of what I want to do to accomplish it. Each point sends me off in a different direction - advancing my career would require me to do certain things. Becoming proficient at SQL requires me to do different things, and so on. Great if I could do it all, but there's only a certain amount of time in a day. So I'll have to pick something to focus on and since my career is in flux (as mentioned in my Highlights - the details), I may have to wait till it settles.

But I had a laugh today when I looked at my Memories on Facebook.

Back in January 2021, I had posted that I was going to "go with the flow" that year.

Then I posted: "2021 Goals. I've created a rather long list of things I want to chip away at over the next 12 months. Few deadlines. Few must-dos.

A friend replied to my post saying, "That's not going with the flow!"

Me: "The lack of deadlines means I can do whatever whenever."

Friend: "My statement stands. You can't help yourself."

Me: "My "going with the flow" is kind of like being in a barrel going over the Niagara Falls!"

Lisa - I forgot to mention how neat that AI photo is of you and Egg. You are getting to be such a whiz at figuring out this stuff. Great job with your YouTube channel, by the way. You looked very comfortable talking in front of the camera and Egg's a natural too :p . Interesting topic, nice to hear more background on your Crohn's. :) And love seeing your craft room set-up, so organized. It has to be a source of joy for you, working in that room. ;)

Kelly - I can see you were a mega-juggler these past few months, glad you finally had a little time off. Thanks for catching us up. :p Always great to hear from you.

Barbie- sending many hugs as you step into your new normal. Glad Jake's daughter was there for a while and you have friends close by to spend time with if you wish.

Mo - loved the photos of Disney World and your beautiful smile. I can see what you meant about Rose being attached to your son. Looks like you and your DH had a great time. Yummy food. :p I don't blame him for wanting to spend time on the patio. Nice break from that Chicago weather.

Flea - what a great vacation, enjoy that sunshine. We're getting plenty of gray skies and rain here, though the 10 day forecast is showing a few days of sunshine next week (nothing below freezing so far.)

Vicki - glad they discovered what was wrong with your DH's hip and can get it replaced fairly quickly. You and he are so active. ;) Has he retired?

Rosemarie - great job decluttering and getting things the way you like them in your house for the upcoming year. You declutterers (is that a word?) inspired me to clean up the guest room a bit yesterday. More closet and bookshelf cleanouts, the pile for the thrift store is growing again.

Machka - wow, 2024 was an eventful year for you. I'm so glad your DH is able to travel with you.

Tracey - you have such a knack for decorating. Those little lights are very nice. Always love seeing what your grands are up to.

More fireworks last night - early evening. Not close by, but I could hear it. Rosie went to bed when the sun went down, so I turned on the radio in the living room where her bed is, hoping it would drown out the noise. She did OK. Hope that's the end of it. Settle down, people, lol.

I was up super early - thought I heard Rosie coming down the hall. It wasn't her; I must have dreamed it. But it gave me a chance to get some laundry done and get a head start on the budget/finances now that 2024 is closed.

Will close for now. Sending hugs to those of you dealing with cold weather and the crud!

Carla good to see you post here again.

    Tracey Your home is gorgeous...

I understand about DH. Mine was the same way...He rarely complimented me on all the work I did around the home. I now do it for me and I realize doing all that work has me in good habits for maintaining my home. What I can't do is hire someone to do it.

Content where my weight (155-156), blood pressure ( less than 120/ less than 80), pulse 64, waist 33 which is good for my height. (waist should be half you height or less, clothes size 10 for pants, tops 12/medium. So want to continue what I am doing to hopefully keep myself healthy. I know I am going to have to keep myself strong. A number of friends are starting to battle chronic illnesses or having loved one battle a chronic illness. Some are losing their loved ones or they are passing too!

Friend who lost her husband overseas has gotten him back here for burial. Now she has to get his report of death overseas (the death certificate) translated from German and notarized. Hard enough already without those complications. For Social Security you can no longer walk in. You need to call and make an appointment. I know they will try to have her do an over the phone appointment. I will tell her to try if possible to get an in person appointment. I understand Social Security is doing this throughout the US.

Yesterday was pretty quiet for me. Heard from entire family by text (except middle daughter of course, but her husband did text, so all good). Talked to my mom over the phone (she doesn’t text. Believes technology is evil!) and she was in a good mood. I think they have her meds sorted now. This morning got awoken by a phone call from RI for my son. Well, he has his new phone, so I gave them his new number and told them to call my DS. I don’t know if he answered it, but I hope he does. It was from a psychiatrist that takes his insurance and would be able to do phone consultations and renew his prescriptions. He needs them to keep his paranoid schizophrenia under control.

Brownie is coughing constantly now and not eating well. I feel so helpless because there is nothing I can do for her. Wicket is still doing good.

DH has a sore throat. I hope it doesn’t progress to anything much worse. We both have had all the preventative inoculations. I’m feeling fine though at the higher dose of medicine. No sore throat or anything crud related….. yet.

Have to go to town today. For some reason, the updated website for my storage unit will not process my payment. It didn’t take last month’s either, I just found out, so must go there to pay and straighten that out. Also want to go to Target and PO. I think I will do that before anything else to get it over with. Most Christmas decorations down, just the front of the RV left, which is easy-peasy.

    Today’s thought of the day:
The rotation of the earth really makes my day!

    Have a good one everyone,
    Love, RVRita

PS. Vicki, I sent you a friend request so we can exchange addresses. I love getting Christmas and sending cards so please send me your address everyone who would like to exchange cards! I love getting and sending cards!

We took Ezie over to MIL's so she could walk the dog with me and play at the park close to her house- They had it closed for quite a while while they redid it- First time checking it out. It is really nice. Got her out and playing for almost an hour- usually she just wants to just watch tv. That is what she does at home.
Came back here and she and I made mocha almond fudge for her mom that is vegan. Using coconut cream instead of sweetened condensed milk- First time trying it- will see how it turns out. She had fun making it.
Rain coming tomorrow so won't be able to go to the park- Maybe next week. She has one more week of winter break.(they get three weeks off)
Saturday we will get up early. I will take care of MIL's dog while he goes over and sees her. They called him today- she has lost 5 lbs in the past 2 weeks. She was only 110 to start with. He let them know that she refuses to eat most of the time at home too but where she is, another big problem is the lady in her room comes over and takes or Fumiko gives her her food.

Good evening dear ladies. It is a cold and deary day. Got my errands done and now just staying inside. DH had a bad night pain wise and then no one gets much sleep. The dogs know something is off and that makes them clinging. Monday can't come fast enough.
Tracey--What you have done with the lights love so peaceful and relaxing.
Mo--Thanks for sharing your vacation pictures. Looks like everyone had a good time.
Lanetta--DH isn't retired and that is why this is so hard for him. He has trouble not doing things and being homebound is driving him batty.
Rita--I sent you message with address, looking forward to getting yours.
Spent a couple hours at the unemployment office today. Found out I wasn't doing the reporting completely. Got that fixed and see what happens now.
