Hi all.. I'm relatively new to this site. Hoping to chat and maybe get some recipe idea. Warning.. I'm not a cook so hopefully the recipes are easy! 😄

    Hello Melissa,

I'm also diabetic. I have cut out high glycemic foods to help control my blood sugar. that did work and i lost weight. This time I'm not cutting them out but watching portion sizes and I'm still controlling my blood sugar and losing weight.

Many people well tell you to go low carb. I personally don't count carbs. In fact my meal plan this week has my carbs around 180g and my blood sugar is still between 80-100. I do try to avoid foods high in sugar and instead look for things high in protein and fiber. Everything else seems to work itself out.

I would recommend learning what foods have a high glycemic index though. The more knowledge you have the better.

I tend to eat a of eggs, cheese, salad, chicken, tuna and rice. This week I'm eating stuffed peppers made with turkey, rice and cheese with lettuce and either cucumber or zucchini for lunch and a tuna casserole made with protein enriched pasta for dinner. I could have used cauliflower instead of rice and saved on some of the carbs. I don't like cooking either but I'm getting used to it because I am getting better results.

    Good luck
