Hey, so nice to see someone who's not constantly running super long distances!

Great result @martaindale, you must be pleased. Shame the course was a bit dull.
My next half is on the waterfront here in Auckland and as it’s dead flat and I was feeling lazy, I decided to do my long run here this morning.
I took my niece with me, who’s just getting in to running. It was perfect running weather - cool and clear - so I wasn’t surprised to see loads of people out running but then, about 1.5k in, we found ourselves in the run portion of a triathlon so we’re surrounded by hordes of speedy people which made it hard to keep to our goal pace of 6:30 per kilometre.
We ran past the start/finish line after about 3km and the competitors peeled off so we had room to breathe again. Our run was an out and back but by the time we returned to the course it was mostly slower runners (but still faster than us) and fewer of them so easier to run with them.
We did 14k at 6:31 pace in the end, which was ideal. This follows parkrun yesterday which was 5km at 5:37 pace (and hilly!).
Looking across Mission Bay to the start/finish line of the triathlon and the corresponding hordes of people.

Nice running @kgirlhart . Love that your nephew is a policeman.
Nice running @Laurz9191 .
You really are doing great easing back into running @tarun_yadavA .
Amazing @yirara ! Glad your day ended better than it started. Great job adding distance to your run.
Congratulations @martaindale ! You did great. I saw the medal on Strava…love it. Enjoy the rest of your stay.
Now, that's really accidently running a race @ContraryMaryMary . 😂 You and your niece did great. I bet it's fun running with her. That's a beautiful view.

I was finally able to get back into MFP on the computer. So, I'm posting three days.
Thursday, mom and I went to town for haircuts and errands. When I got home, I walked on the treadmill, wanting to rest my niggly ankle from hills and running. I think I only had one minor twinge.
Yesterday, I did go to the gym in the morning. It was arm day, so did assisted pull ups, low row and bicep curl super sets (both before taking a break), and then the crunch machine. I did walk a quarter mile on the treadmill for warm up there and then, after I got home, I did another 2.25 miles on the treadmill. The ankle felt pretty good.
Today, I did a short run to test out the ankle. It was on the treadmill, so basically flat. The ankle felt good. I ran at 4.5-4.8/4.0 mph for 2/1 min - twice each before moving on. Avg pace was 13:29 min/mile. Avg HR was 109 with a max of 127 bpm. I started to raise the incline during the cool down walk, but resisted that temptation. I'm going to wait until Monday and hope those couple of extra days will let it heal completely.
Mom and I went to my great niece's first birthday party this afternoon. We had a nice time with family and friends.

Good Morning everyone. Crossed over 600 miles for the year yesterday but it was rough. I woke up with an awful migraine and tried to do a short walk to see if fresh air and movement would help but it did not so I took some meds and went to sleep for 3 hrs! Woke up feeling better and was able to get 8 miles in altho I originally told myself to get 2 when I walked out the door. I hate using meds but sometimes…. anyway managed to keep my 81 day streak alive for the year altho including last year it is 91 days.
Good to see that everyone is progressing well here. So much activity. Work has been very busy also - my bosses' boss even called me yesterday when I was on a run for an issue. sigh. I hope we do not lose our SS because I am looking forward to retirement one of these days.. lol.

Afternoon all,
I got in 9.0M at 09'56.
Was intending to up mileage (I was thinking 10K initially) but was in the zone. No pain so far 🤞🏽
Also for the wrong reasons. Wife had been away in Thailand on a ladies trip to beach spa type thing! (I had been teasing her with 'unglamorous White Lotus' )
Anyways. She came back with this haul.
So thought I'd build a huge surplus to make a dent in those. Now unfortunately with growing boys in the house - it's like being back at school. 'snooze you lose' , so really is a case of eating it over the next couple of days. If I try and 'ration' , thinking I'll have a little bit as a treat over the week... It'll be long gone!
(Side note- I really get the Nat Geo Wild, animal planet type stuff when younger big cats have to leave when they grow to a certain size! They're competition for food! Haha!)
Anyways. Have a lovely weekend all
10 -
@quilteryoyo lovely photos! 😊
@SummerSkier awesome stats! 🙌🏽
@martaindale what do you think of White Lotus S3?
I don't think it's as good as S1 or S2 (so far!!!!)

Didn’t run yesterday as rain was forecast all day & though my foot would appreciate it. Today is still quite stormy but fine.
Lovely photos @ContraryMaryMary, @Laurz9191 & @quilteryoyo. I’m starting to think New Zealand is the ideal place to live.
@kgirlhart I love how ur dog is called Pup even though she’s a mature lady. We got a 9week old collie pup in February, we named her Jess but I call her puddles for obvious reasons.@martaindale congratulations on another half marathon!
9 -
I gained a pound just looking at that! You should send her on vacation more often… 😅
5 -
@tarun_yadavA I'd agree that so far it's not as good as the first 2 seasons. We'll have to see where it goes. Though I must say I LOVE Parker Posey's character. She's hilarious and remarkably similar to women her age I've encountered on vacation.
4 -
Inspirational @SummerSkier . I'm glad your headache went away. Sometimes meds are necessary.
Thanks @tarun_yadavA I'm glad your foot is still okay after upping the mileage. You'll be back to your amazing self in no time. That "food" though! 😂 You guys seem to have the best sounding stuff that isn't available over here. I love Oreos, but have never seen the wafer roll. Is it good? Good luck on eating what you want before the teenagers get ahold of it all.
Congrats @tri_2_lose_weight .
Thanks @Mari33a . You're doing great. Hahaha about puddles! I hope she gets better with that soon. 😉Sometimes I'm surprised Tippy knows what her name is because I call her everything…Tippy, Tip, Tippy Toodles, and dog are a few of the most used ones. LOL

My Sunday Rest day walk after church and before lunch. Still relatively flat. Today, my ankle hurt in the back at about 1.6 miles in for a couple of minutes. I kept walking and it quit. I'm hoping to try the hills again tomorrow and see how it goes. Fingers crossed it will be okay.
I took a nap after lunch. When I got up, it was surprisingly 75°F (24°C) outside, so, I'm sitting in the shade, checking in on you wonderful people, and enjoying the day.

I still am figuring out editing and cut and paste.
Today I ran
2.13 miles at 14'00

Thanks!

Congrats on the HM @martaindale
Great photos @quilteryoyo, cutie great niece! Hope that ankle heals quickly, I've dealt with a wonky one for the last couple years (it's why I run inclines/declines often to keep the strength up - according to my physiotherapist)

Took a rest day Sat & it felt pretty good, even though my Garmin was suggesting that I do do a 30 min run….
Today's the anniversary of my Mom's death, 4 yrs ago.
I felt really lazy when I got up, but I remembered how happy Mom was that I had lost so much weight, and that I would 'walk everywhere & run for fun'.
It was ridiculously cold today, for a spring day, so I hopped on to the treadmill and ran through my hometown by the last three places Mom lived while there.7 -

125.02/125 miles completed for March
I ran 13.25 miles today which gets me to my goal for the month. It was tank top weather, 68°F at the start and 75° F by the end. It was a little warm, but it was windy too and that helped with the heat at first. By the end of the run the wind was picking up and made it more difficult to run. It was a good run. I saw lots of birds but still haven't seen the scissortails. I also saw one of my coworkers. She goes to church a couple of blocks from my house. She was coming out the door as I ran by and started cheering for me. So even though my HM this weekend wasn't a race, I still had someone cheering me on. 😊
Great job on your HM @martaindale . My Dad was from SC and we used to go to North Myrtle Beach when I was a kid. I would love to run there, but it would be disappointing to not be able to see the beach.
@ContraryMaryMary great jib on the accidental race. New Zealand is definitely a place that I would love to see.
@SummerSkier I'm glad the headache improved and you were able to get out.
@quilteryoyo I'm glad the ankle is improving. You have a lovely family.
I love collies. I bet Jess is really cute, but I can see how Puddles is an appropriate name at this age.

You're doing great @chris_in_cal . Technology? You'll figure it out.
Thanks @John772016 . Nice tribute run for your mom. Hugs to you today.
Thanks @kgirlhart . Congrats on your HM distance. Great that you had a cheering section too.

Morning all
No running today.
45 mins bike, 6000m rower.
(Im guessing we're past me having to upload proof of not running photos!)
@quilteryoyo no, don't get any of that funky stuff here either. Looking forward to the fluorescent green Fruit punch Fanta! The mix nut-rice cracker mix was vile. Had this horrid (I wanna say kefir lime) "Thai" after taste to it.
@martaindale I'm now one behind again as I didn't see last night's episode. But OMG... That four ppl orgy on the boat. 🤢🤮
Definitely not as good as S1 or S2. There's no plot I feel here. Just obnoxious rich Americans in a 5* resort.
And agreed on the Parker Posey real housewives of North Carolina on lithium vibe. Haha.
@tri_2_lose_weight haha. I got a trip to Montreal+Newfoundland with a buddy later this year. But don't think my snack haul will be quite as exotic. Ketchup flavour crisps and Coffee crisp chocolate bar. Otherwise Canadian stuff is just the same as American /European stuff.
7 -
@tarun_yadavA I am Canadian and could argue on that last sentence - especially since there is no ketchup chips are coffee crisp or chocolate smarties down there. Make sure you can some Smarties as well, though if those boxes get any smaller, they will just disspear.

Recovery run this morning to test everything out. My calves are the thing that is the most sore, which is weird. I wore my 1080's for the race, not the machs, which are my usual shoe. I favored having extra cushion not knowing how this would go and the machs rubbed a blister on my big toe at the NV race. Never had that happen before. The feel is still good but hoka did something to the shape of the forefoot that isn't working for me over long distances. I need to go to fleet feet and find a new shoe to replace it. I'm looking for some cushion, but not too much, light, with good energy return. The mach was great because it fit all of those criteria; basically a trainer I could also race in.
I read an article on foam in the most recent runner's world. It gave me the impression that a lot of shoe companies are working towards exactly what I want. Apparently runners today want it all! According to the article, the magic is in the foam. I haven't done a try on session in a while, so I look forward to seeing what is out there.

Congratulations on your half marathon @martaindale! That's a great pace for walk/run intervals. I ran my first marathon in Myrtle Beach and I was also disappointed in the course. We actually went through a shopping center parking lot at one point!

This month I have run the same amount I ran in November, December, January and February combined. (My earlier post saying I hit when I did in January and February, should have said my goal was to hit DOUBLE the amount I did in January and February.) All but one of my runs this month were just in the last two weeks. I am really starting to feel how I am pushing myself and I am starting to think I am pushing myself a little to much. I was going to run 4km today at my lunch break right now, but I think I really need a rest day. I have a tight hamstring in my left leg and just walking I feel it and it stiffens up when I have been sitting to long (I work in a law office.) I will get back out tomorrow!!!

I'm jealous. Would LOVE to visit Newfoundland. In Montreal, I think I'd OD on poutine!

Yesterday I went for a walk in the woods, and did a bit of strength training. Today my running programme suggested 45s hill repeats. Now, I can't walk uphill as my muscles simply stop working, and I certainly can't run uphill. So I picked a road that went uphill ever so slightly and ran 'up' fast and then trotted down to catch my breath. Worked.

Nice run @tarun_yadavA . Sorry all of the snacks weren't good. I am so disappointed when food doesn't taste good enough to justify the calories.
Nice recovery run @martaindale .
@angf0679 Good plan. You don't want to get injured when you are just getting back into running.
Great job in modifying your plan to fit what you can do @yirara . Why did you label yesterday as "I'm an idiot" day?
You're doing great @Mari33a . Those pups are adorable.

I went to the gym this morning. I was early enough to walk half a mile for warm up and then did another half mile for cool down afterwards. Today was arm day again. I did overhead bar bell press, bench press (2 sets at 45# x10 reps and one 55# x 4 reps), converging chest press, and row machine.
After I got home, I did another treadmill session. I walked a quarter mile for warm up and then ran/walked at 4.5-5.2/4.0 mph for 3/1 min. Avg Pace was 12:51 min/mile. Avg HR was 124 with a max of 149 bpm.
On the half mile cool down walk, I increased the incline incrementally up to 5 % and my ankle was fine. I'm hoping that means the week of "rest" was all I needed.

I ran 3.52 miles today. It was chilly at 41°F. For about the first mile, I felt a little niggle in the front part of my ankle. Like my shoelace was too tight. It went away after a bit and now I can't even tell where it was. Hopefully it won't be a problem tomorrow.
@Mari33a Your dogs are adorable! They look like they are having lots of fun.
