@quilteryoyo 😂 I completely forgot it was Pi day! I have done 3.14 before on this day. I wasn't planning on running today, I was going to do some cross training but now I am going to need to run!

@Laurz9191 You are my spirit animal. You sure don't need my advice….but….your rest day tomorrow is probably as important as your run days at this point in the race prep. You seem honed to a diamond edge. (Dropping the old wardrobe is such a baller move)
@tarun_yadavA Indeed MFP has lobbed user abuse our way once again. I imagine it is a simple learning curve and there could be UI benefits, but I'm pretty tired of it.
@angf0679 Good on ya. Nothing wrong with feeling good running, AND looking good.

yeah the changes are definitely challenging in some ways. I don't post off a phone usually my mac or once in a while my ipad so not as hard perhaps to post.
the last few runs have been hard and I think the wind has been so strong it confuses my tech as some splits were in the 13 range which would mean I was walking… or maybe I was running backwards. LOL I am not seeing a preview option anymore so not sure if saving draft will show if the ticker software works or not.
ok ticker code definitely does not work. back to photo button I guess. Just a snapshot of my spreadsheet then.
Welcome to the new folks. Glad to see Tarun and Scott made it back to running!

@tri_2_lose_weight Thank you. Or should I say Go raibh maith agat.
3 -
Hahaha @angf0679 . Glad I could be of service.
Nice @tri_2_lose_weight . Glad you were able to escape the rain, unless you are one of those who love running in the rain. Which side are you on? I will run in it if it starts once I'm out, and usually enjoy it, but I have a really hard time starting a run outside if it is already raining.
Great running @SummerSkier . Look at that average daily mileage! Awesome! I wish they would give us the preview back and fix it so we can put pictures under the spoiler again.
Have a fun holiday weekend @Mari33a !

I went to the gym this morning. Today was leg day - did squats, leg curls, kettlebell swings, and the glute machine. Doesn't sound like a lot, but I could feel it.
I didn't sleep very good last night. Partly because I was awake at 2:30am and went out to view and take pictures of the Blood Moon. After I went back to bed, I couldn't go back to sleep - was awake almost 2 hours!
The "crack" is a tree limb.
Anyway, I was really tired when I got home, so laid down and managed to take about an hour nap. I felt better after that.
I went out for my run. It was HOT today…80°F (26.7°C). I did a slow pi run/walk. Avg pace for the run was 13:34 min/mile. Splits were 14:48 (not sure why it was that slow - Garmin glitch maybe), 13:22, and 11:31 min/mile. Avg HR was 129 with a max of 155 bpm.
I also worked on the garden area for about an hour - mostly just loaded up the pile of dirt I had dug the last couple of days into the Gator so it wouldn't become a muddy mess with the forecast rain this weekend.

It’s my birthday today and I’ve had the most fabulous day. It started with breakfast out with my family, then I met my sister and we took a 5k walk before having lunch.
I then took the girls and their scooters and met my niece for what I told her was an 8k run. Technically it is - the loop around the Orewa estuary is 7.8k but we parked up the road near the surf club as I knew the kids would want to go swimming after but it did add 800m at the beginning and end, but we thought, 10k? Sweet.
However, around 45 mins in, the girls, who were a couple of hundred metres ahead of us, missed a turn which I figured out after nearly a kilometre, so we had to double back and find them. In the end it was 11k all up.
The run was faster than it should have been as my niece is a novice runner and was struggling with the whole run your slow runs slow concept. Also, running on duck liver parfait and a glass of Prosecco is definitely not recommended. (I didn’t plan on drinking at lunch but the owner of the cafe brought us a complementary glass each when he found out it was my birthday).
We celebrated with the run with an ice cream on the beach before stopping for a fab burger on the way home.
Now doing a hair mask and a face mask either my nearly teen daughter while watching Stanley Tucci’s Italy tv show. Bliss.

Happy Birthday @contraryMaryMary You are doing it up right!
@quilteryoyo I was tired yesterday also and did not have all the good excuses you had. LOL.
We had a surprise severe thunderstorm at 3 am last night. And I mean it woke me up and had small hail and everything. wow. We did not get as much wind and dust as the panhandle did thank goodness but still over 90 degrees and I had to turn the ac on the other night as the house as at 80 and dank. My tennis yesterday was so unenergetic in the sort of wind and heat. Not ready for that yet altho later in the year we will play at 100. LOL.

Hello my 'former' Garmin fam.
Lots of us have written here about Garmin telling us we need to rest, are unproductive, are good, are bad, etc. The messages sent are difficult to comprehend with our own experience. This article is about a person's big Garmin blunder, but for us here even a little adjusting might make the information Garmin gives a little more targeted.
It's narrowing in on the identified HR zones each of us have. Much of Garmin's analysis and recommendations are built around a persons HR zones, and max.
"That's why fixing your Garmin's max heart rate setting could be the key to unlocking the true value of your training."

Happy birthday @ContraryMaryMary 🎉🎁🎈
Well my debut back to running outside after 2 months was pretty much a failure. Planned on doing 3/1 intervals for a few miles. After the first couple of running cycles the pain behind my left knee started hurting to the point that I cut the run portion short. Then tried 2/1 intervals on the grass when I could find some. It was a little better, but still painful. I was scared to try running outside, and apparently my fears were justified.

13.03 3.0km 22min 7:29/km - warmup, 1.61km fast
14.03 strength
15.03 5.0km 40min 7:57/km - really slow38.49km
LOL! Runalyze tells me my run did not improve my VO2max. Should I be sad? Nah! This was a truly slow run with controlled breathing all the way through for once. I still can't run for the whole distance, with a very short walk after 3 and after 4.5km to slow down my breathing again, but getting there. Next time I might try to run a bit longer. Also good: I now know I do need about 15 minutes warm up. There's another fast 1.61km coming up next week again, thus this time a longer warm up. Nice run, on the edge of getting DOMs from yesterday's strength session.

I never managed that in the previous forum version, and now it works. I do track my runs in a notepad++ file and copy it over here. Thus I guess it's not a big help

Ok, maybe if you press Shift + Enter you get narrow vertical spacing, and just enter you get the big one. I'll find out once I post this ;)
edit: seems to work0 -
press shift before pressing return on ur phone for each line

I'm on my laptop doing it

try shift and return at the same time

Happy Birthday @ContraryMaryMary . That sounds like a great day, except for the losing the kids part.
@SummerSkier Those are tough conditions for tennis. We're supposed to have severe storms here overnight. I'm not looking forward to it.
Thanks @Mari33a . You are doing great with the running.
Gosh, I'm sorry that the pain returned when you ran outside @Scott6255 ! I hope you can go back to the treadmill pain free for a bit and then maybe try again.
Great running @yirara . Sounds like you are zeroing in on what you need to do to be able to run like you want.
Nice running @angf0679 . It's shift enter at the same time to get rid of the extra space.
@chris_in_cal I can't seem to find where to check my max HR. I know I have found it before, because I set it a couple of years ago. I'll try again when I have more time. Thanks for the article.

I did a short treadmill walk this morning before heading out for unexpected league tennis. I'm calling today a rest day from running/walking.
I wasn't scheduled to play the league tennis match today, but was contacted last night to see if I could since one of the ladies who was going to play hurt her ankle yesterday. We got to play indoors today - was raining and storming during the match. We lost again, but I felt like I played so much better today. My scores were 3-6 and 1-6, but that last set was really close. We had lots of duce games. The other two courts lost too. It is hard for us to compete with the ladies in Knoxville. It is a much larger town with a much larger group of ladies who play. Most of them play nearly every day and many play with the same partner all the time. We may get to play a couple of times a month, if we are lucky, during the winter. That makes a huge difference. But, we have fun and do our best. I think our team would get Ms. Congeniality, if there was one in tennis. I'm proud of that. 😉

I forgot to post yesterday. I ran 3.35 miles. It was already pretty windy and the run felt tough. The wind was really bad yesterday and the sky was brown and smelled and tasted like dirt. It wasn't as bad today, but my allergies are still really bothering me. We've been dog sitting for our son this weekend. I didn't run today, but I did take the dogs for a walk. I took both our dog and the granddog for a shirt walk around the block. Pup is our collie. She really likes to go, but she doesn't have the stamina for very long walks any more. Monday will be her 15th birthday. Ein is a corgi. He is 8, so not a puppy, but he is still pretty full of energy.
@quilteryoyo Great shot of the moon!
@Scott6255 I'm sorry your knee is still giving you trouble.
@ContraryMaryMary Happy Birthday! Sounds like you had a great day!

Started the day at ghastly o’clock to meet my girlfriends for a hike on Auckland’s Wild West coast. It was about a 50 minute drive and we were meeting at 7am so you get the idea.
The moon was still up when we started (see first pic) and I was happy about the early start later as it was started to get really hot by 8:30. We did about 6.5k with some pretty good elevation. Half of it along the cliffs and for the first time ever it wasn’t blowing a gale, in fact it was completely still. Absolutely stunning views, absolutely spectacular day.

I actually miss running in the rain. It was lashing and very windy the last few days, though, so still a bit of a challenge, even with my rain gear.

🎂 Happy Birthday, Mary!
1 -
@Scott6255 I’m so sorry to hear about your outdoor run!!! That really sucks :(.
@ContraryMaryMary Happy birthday! It definitely sounds like you had a great and active time!
I went on an easy 10.4km run this morning. It was cold out at around freezing, but a beautiful sunny day!193.1/300km for March!
3 -
You're doing great @chris_in_cal .
Thanks @kgirlhart . I hope the dust clears from the air soon and your allergies get better. It's hard to run when you can't breathe.
@ContraryMaryMary Beautiful. Looks like it was worth the early morning wake up call.
Nice cold run this morning @Laurz9191 .
