Hi, I found myself feeling stuck after retiring which seems crazy. I was active and feeling full of purpose. It’s been a year now, and gained all the weight I lost 10 years ago after being cancer free.
I am married 37 years and have a beautiful family including 2 grandchildren.
I want to feel good, look good and be healthy so I can pursue an active lifestyle. Looking forward to making friends and encouraging one another.

    Hello and welcome!

I'm also a cancer survivor - though 24+ years back, in my case - and a retiree, but a long term MFP user. This app can work, with commitment, persistence, and patience, in my experience. Personally, I think the key thing is finding new, long-term habits that gradually lead to our weight and activity goals, and keep us there long term. I lost weight here at 59-60, and have maintained a healthy weight since, now age 69. It's been a huge quality of life improvement for me. I want everyone to be able to achieve that, you included.

IMO, one of the most effective ways to get support here is to join one of the motivation or accountability threads or groups. There are lots of different ones. They're most concentrated in the Motivation and Support or Challenges topic areas, but there are others spread around elsewhere. If you read some of the posts there, perhaps you can find one(s) that suit your style, and join in to make (virtual) friends and find the encouragement you're looking for.

    Wishing you success!

Thank you. Your testimony is very encouraging. I’ve been tracking for a week notice the difference of tracking. I need to get better at planning but I think twice before eating everything.

Glad to hear you beat cancer as well. Lifestyle and habit changes aren’t easy but worth it. After cancer I did WW. Lost weight but not with healthy habits. Fitness Pal seems to help me regarding the types of food I eat. I’m still learning the app.

We are never to old to make changes and succeed.

    Thank you 😁
