I lowered my BP and lost some weight

Alright, so doctor said I should attempt to lower my blood pressure without being on medication and to come back in a few months to do a follow up. If my BP doesn’t drop, then we’d talk about medication. I didn’t want to go the meds route, so I completely changed my eating habits for the past month and so.

Stopped buying processed meats, even make my own at home, cook more, read nutrition labels like a hawk, aim for 2,300 mgs of sodium daily and less, cardio exercise about 4x a week, eat more veggies, tweak my meals to meet my daily macros like Calories, Carbs, Sugars and Sodium, even bought my own blood pressure monitor and check my BP 2-3 times daily.

My original readings at the doctors office were around 140/92 and now I’m averaging about 123/79. I’ve also dropped about 12lbs. It’s been about 5 weeks going onto 6 since I started. My current goal is to lose a combined 65lbs, just 53lbs to go. Just wanted to post this to encourage others in their own health lifestyle goals. Best wishes everyone, Be sure keep a positive mindset and enjoy the journey.

Not to dismiss your hard work, but did you measure at home when you had those high reading at the doctors? I would never agree to BP meds unless I had some elevated home BP readings to go along with those at the doctor's. Last time I went to the doctor, my BP was 160/90 and at home I rarely reach 110/70, as low as 90/60 sometimes 😯 My father in law is the opposite, he's more relaxed at the doctor's and gets higher readings at home 😆

Great work nevertheless, those changes are bound to be beneficial for your health in all kinds of different ways! And I think few people are actually willing and/or willing to make the lifestyle changes you're making.
