Hello!

Options

I am not quite new to this platform but I lost my other account. I have about 100lbs to lose before I am at a good place and it is scary. I'm afraid to fail but I'm also afraid to succeed. I'm not specifically looking for any group or community as I am more of a lurker than someone who likes to be active. Sometimes being socially active is too much to handle for me. But I figured I would at least put something out in the world that I can look back on later and be like "ha, remember when".

Hey it's great that you have felt able to take that step. I have in total about 87lbs to lose and I understand your concerns. If it helps I have done it before so it can be done. I put my weight back on after a head injury. If you want to link up for the journey I would be happy to have you along with me. They say how do you eat an elephant? Just one bite at a time. And that's all it is. One step at a time and enjoy the journey celebrating each next achievement.

    hi @SweetPotatoHome welcome to MFP.

You overcame your dislike of doing anything besides lurking to post here, so you’ve already crossed one threshold! Gold Star!

I lost almost 100. It’s not scary. It’s exciting and invigorating and life changing. But it’s also slow and gradual. There’s no Fat Fairy who’s going to make you thin with a tap of her wand, and leave you in a quivering heap of OMG.

Trust me, if you do it right (slowly, methodically, learning new habits as you go) you’re going to have plenty of time to jump from stepping stone to stepping stone without falling into an abyss.

I found that shoving negative thoughts and words to one side, and replacing them with positive ones went a long way towards making the journey easier and more pleasant.
