Fiber Not Showing Up

Hi everyone! I made a dinner with Mission Carb Balance tortillas which are supposed to have 17g of dietary fiber. I ate two of them, however, I haven’t even reached half of my daily goal of 25g. I checked and on the app it lists the tortillas as having 17g of fiber so it can’t be a typo. Any answers would be appreciated! The tortillas are included in a recipe I made on the app, not entered on their own.

The MFP food database is crowd-sourced, in other words entered by regular MFP users like you and me . . . except that some of them aren't very meticulous so a lot of database entries are inaccurate.

What that means is that in order to get accurate totals, we need to pick accurate entries. When you log a food for the first time, check the nutrient details against the package label, or - for things with no nutrition label - against an authoritative source such as USDA Food Data Central (or similar others).

    https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/

Once you log an accurate food, it will stay in your recent/frequent foods in MFP, and come up first when you search by typing in a few letters of the food name when adding to your diary, as long as you eat that food semi-recently. You won't need to verify every food every time.

If you used the bar code scanner, it's good to be aware that the bar codes aren't a direct pipeline to accurate, current information from the food manufacturer. The details on a bar-coded food are just whatever was entered by the first MFP user who happened to scan that barcode. It's probably no more or less likely to be accurate than any other item in the database.

    Best wishes!
