🌞Hello, ladies, and Happy June!!!🌞

🌞Summer is here again (for most of us anyway)!

🌞What are your goals for June? How about for the summer as a whole? Is there anything big that you're looking forward to or, conversely, any concerns you may have?

🌞What things have been making you happy or what makes you the most joyful?

🟡If you've never been here before, please know you are welcome to join at any point in the month. All you have to do is post something, and then BAM!, you're one of us.

🟡In this group, we post our weekly and monthly goals and provide support and motivation to each other as we share our triumphs and our struggles. This group is all about accountability.

🟡All are welcome and, if you think you belong here, you do! No matter how much you currently weigh or how you measure (or don't measure) your weight, we'd love to hear from you.

🟡Victories, both scale and non-scale, are great to hear about, but, conversely, we know that weight loss isn't all sunshine and roses. If you're going through a rough patch, please feel free to be honest and vent your heart out. The struggle is real and we're all here to support each other!

🌼This June, let's be joyful, jazzy, and get the job done!!!🌼

Started to exercise yesterday and just did a small walk. It felt good, but my joints are sore. Must add in weights! Hopefully, as the weight comes off I will have less joint problems. One of the reasons, I really want to lose this weight. Hope everyone has a wonderful week and a great month! 🤗

Quit smoking still. A few cheats in a week since Monday, but really not much. Glad my weight stayed stable. I know you can pack on the lbs after you quit. But not happening. Not down, but not up, either. Have a great week❤️

    😱!!!!!!!!!!

    Starting weight 225.

    Todays weight: 216 AGAIN!!!!!!

I have stayed under 1200 calories all week. Watching carbs and sugar. The only thing I can attribute this to is starting work and the stress of that.

It def IS stressful, Im pretty exhausted, physically and mentally, though I am walking more.

I hate when this happens. I dont want to hear weight loss is not linear ( I know that). Or you took a while putting it on, so it takes a while to come off ( my hubby says that sometimes). Or even its a lifestyle change and not a diet, which is TRUE. But jeez, not even 0.2 pounds???

I meet with the nutritionist on Weds so maybe she can give me some tips and finally an endocrine NP as well.

Good thing is after today I have some time off from work. Bad thing is I have some guests staying with us which means eating out and prob alcohol.

Maybe I am eating too little? IDK. At least its supposed to stop raining after today. Maybe I will get myself outside and walk more. At any rate, I gotta get up and get ready for work and change my grumpy attitude.

Let it go Elsa. 😁. That's better lol

    Have a great week everyone

Ps. @anneliz35 Excellent thst you quit smoking. No easy feat. Prob the #1 healthy thing you can do for your health. Way to go!

Last week I had some short and longer walks and a long session of aquafit. I definitely cooked healthy meals at home. My weight has varied from 245 and below but finally went down to a new low. We have a family party tomorrow night and we will be going down to my son's for father's day weekend. Hopefully next week I can make some more progress.

@anneliz35 I think quiting smoking is the top priority and I hope that is going well .

@rorymason My brother the doctor has suggested I go on Ozempic but I am skeptical .which I was expressing to someone at Aquafit. She suggested this podcast: #1 Weight Loss Doctor: The Truth About Obesity, Ozempic, Dieting, & How to Feel Better Now at melrobbins.com. It features a doctor who has a lot of experience with these drugs. She really stresses that you need to get protein and exercise to keep muscle. I have to admit it changed my mind about these drugs but you need to do it right. It doesn’t sound like your 1st doctor would be giving you the medical support needed for taking this step. I had the same experience with a nurse calling to say they wanted me to start me on statins. I said I would require a discussion with my Dr 1st. I have gotten that support since then. Glad you are seeking better medical support.

@jenbroussard71 Yes you can do it and a great plan to follow

Thanks for the encouragement.😊 I know what you are saying is true. I seem to be sticking with it, even though the cravings are sometimes, not the best. And managing not to eat more. I've often wondered about Ozempic. A friend's who is a nurse, says she would not take it. But I don't know much about that medication. I can understand wanting to try it, though, 🤔

I’m joining late but hope I can stick with y’all to the end of the month. I really enjoy the personalities and humor that come through in your posts. 🙂

    I’m Julie, 48 years old, 5’10”.

I’ve been on MFP for years but have never been consistent. I told myself a few weeks ago just to start recording everything I eat and weigh myself everyday. It’s a start, right? But I’ve been well over my calorie totals. I’m also focusing on getting protein, which is a bit challenging for me because I eat a plant-based diet.

On June 1st I was 234.5 pounds, and this morning I was 232.8. My goal for the end of June is to be solidly lower than the 231 mark. I’d like to be consistently weighing in the 220s, even if it’s 229.

I have a torn rotator cuff which is causing me pain and making me feel unmotivated and limiting my ability to do some exercises (outside of PT). However, I am trying to drink lots of water and to walk everyday. I’m going to try to walk 7,000 steps a day from today until June 30.

    Here’s to accountability!

I think this journey is teaching me about more than just food and exercise. It's teaching me, patience, grace and to celebrate the wins both big and small. With that being said, I have decided that on the day that my number on the scale starts with a 1 I will wear my Disney tiara to the office and no one over there will need to know why I am wearing it. They just need to know that I am a QUEEN 🤣

    Happy Monday!!!!

    SW 225 Todays WT 215.5

    Lost .5 this week 🤷‍♀️

Actually had a good doc visit. Have been on point with my calories.I think I have slowed since working. Work kinda stresses me out. After today Im off for about a week, so we will see.

@jenbroussard71 I love that tiara idea. You go girl! You are almost there :)

@anneliz35 The fact you have not gained weight while you quit smoking is commen dable.

    @MsJulieRenee Welcome!

@KeriA I listened to that Podcast. Very interesting. I did speak with a good doc. Im giving myself 3 months to see if I can turn things around before meds. But days like today ( losing 0.5 pounds in 2 weeks) makes ozempic more attractive. I just have additional medical issues so not ready to try it...yet.

Ps where are all the oldtimers? Hope everyone is well ❤️

    Hi everyone!

Believe it or not, I started a post on June 1st and only just now have gotten back to this thread, lol. I have been BUSY!

The first weekend in June was my best friend's wedding. She was not very organized, and constantly late, so it was a nightmare, sleep-wise, and I wouldn't have traded it for anything. She's having another wedding closer to faraway relatives at the end of next month so I can do it all again.

Last weekend was Father's Day weekend, so I took the girls around and did more than usual to give him a break, plus surprise double DnD, so that weekend just flew by.

This week had primaries in VA, so I spent 16 hours Tuesday being an election official, and yesterday for Juneteenth we took the girls to a theme park. B U S Y.

    Okay! Time for the stuff!

    🌼 6/30:

We're going down. The wedding, what with all the sleep deprivation and whatnot was a blip, but we're going down. I'm currently weighing in the 170's again (!!!). I'm eating on average like 1700 calories and still losing weight, this is very sustainable.

I'm on vacation starting Saturday, and I'm going to do my best to keep eating as normally as possible. We're renting a beach house, and so it's not so much about food I can't get anywhere else, it's about relaxing in a way I can't relax at home. I'm bringing a pile of books and my hobonichi cousin to catch up on some journaling, and bringing magic cards to play. Maybe a puzzle, too.

I bought a super fancy nail repair kit from manicurist a couple weeks ago, and this week is the first one where I am doing the full treatment as recommended on my nails. It's working pretty well so far, and it feels nice to apply the various oils and bases and have faith in the process.

I gotta make like three lists for getting ready to leave for vacation tomorrow, so quick tags:

@RavenStCloud thank you so much as usual for The Thread!

@Kizzy_Ann I'm so glad you're excited about a new exercise regime!

@KeriA I get the feeling of feeling stuck. Perserverence and making it sustainable so it doesn't feel as much like work will get you there!

@anneliz35 congratulations on deciding to quit! That's one of the biggest hurdles to clear, everything after that is just follow through (still hard, but you can do it)!

@rorymason glad to hear your doc was willing to give you more time, but also, and remember this: if it gets too hard, meds are there. We had to make sure my daughter with a lot of medical issues was going to make it, and had to do some intense intervention. At first I balked, but you know what, it worked, she lived, and now she's just happy as a clam. There is life on the other side of a medical intervention. It's not the end of the world if it has to get there. Sending you a lot of love.

@jenbroussard71 we, too, will throw you a party when you hit ONE-DERLAND!!!! 🤠 💎 QUEEN!

@MsJulieRenee welcome! Your goal sounds great!

Ok ok ok, time to get back to work and make those lists and do. all. the. things. lol. I've got a special choreographed dance at the gym tonight, so I've got to do a lot between end of work and beginning of gym tonight, lol. Then a lot to do tomorrow morning. Then NOTHING TO DO FOR A WEEK, glorious.

    SW 225 Today's weight 213.5

    😊

I found the nutritionist consult to be very helpful. I am eating 3 meals plus 2 snacks a day ( I never ate the snacks before) that are timed in-between my main meals and so far it is working. So I am happy. I feel like my digestion is sluggish normally so perhaps the timed eating is stimulating it 🤷‍♀️.

@CupcakeCrusoe Thanks for the support❤️. I am def not medical intervention adverse. I take plenty of meds.

I am in the medical profession. I am Def against my Healthcare professional ( or any for that matter) just throwing out the drug of the day with no talk or consideration of my other health conditions, and no talk of diet, exercise, support or overall plan. She literally named 6 drugs and asked me which one I wanted!!! She is supposed to be the expert on that! She has an obligation to explain the risks and benefits of each and make a recommedation.

The endocrine specialist evaluated me and would not recommend a GLP1 due to my other medical issues. At least they did a full evaluation and explained the reasoning. If after 3 months it is still high I will go on a med. I am not against that.

There Is a woman, older than me, at my gym that lost over 200 pounds over a few years on weight watchers. I figured if she was able to do it, why can't I?

Hope everyone has a great week!

This past week I decided to push myself - to be my own trainer and to try this progressive overload thing on my own. I use an app called Hevy to track my workouts. Since I was pushing myself, I set a few personal records my favorite was a 32% increase on my deadlift. Sounds way impressive right? In all honesty I went from 95 pounds to 125 pounds (10 reps). I will over time continue to grow that number. But since i am doing 3 sets of 10 reps I am not throwing huge numbers. As the numbers grow, I expect my reps to decrease and eventually hit the 4 to 6 rep range. Imagine my surprise when I saw a TikTok video of a 71-year-old woman deadlifting 230 pounds- she set a world record. She is super impressive! Please don't read this wrong. Her accomplishment in no way made me feel bad about where I am at in my journey. What it did was enlighten me to the possibility of where I can be if I put in the work and push past my fears.

Hope you all have a great week…

Hi, I'm Sandy, 56 years old. New in this thread so I'll be brief this time!

I re-started MyFitness Pal in February (after many years of off & on), lost 15 lbs. (was at 226), end of May I stopped tracking and I've gained 3 lbs. back. SO, I am back again!

I used phentermine from mid-February to mid-May, which I think helped with the loss. It def cut down on my cravings. But my body started getting used to it and it wasn't as effective, so I've stopped. I cannot afford GLP1 meds or I might've tried those. So now I'm trying to do it the 'old-fashioned' way - CICO. Calories In vs. Calories Out.

    Starting weight in February: 226.6

    Currently at 214.6 lbs.

Goal weight for June: 210 lbs.

    Overall Goal Weight: 160 lbs.

Thanks all - have a great week! 🌻

    Hi everyone!

I'm here, on this last day of June, and July will be busy, but maybe less so? We'll see!

    Saturday weigh in days
    Christina
    36 years old
    5'4"

    SW: 220ish
    Re-SW (Feb 2022): 200.4

    SW 2025: 179.7

    🌼 June Goals: 🌼
    🌼 Goal weight (average): 178.3

    🌼 6/1: 181.3 (average)
    🌼 6/7: 181.3 (average)
    🌼 6/14: 180.7 (average)
    🌼 6/21: vacation
    🌼 6/28: vacation
    🌼 6/30: 180.1 (average)

Eyyyy I went on vacation and still lost weight! Look at me! I did have a spike during vacation (up to 183!), but I kept a level head and just kept doing my best, even if I didn't hit my targets. (And I didn't, lol.)

I just tried to keep in mind what my personal trainer told me a couple weeks ago: no day is a success or a failure, binary. It's on a spectrum of 100% adherance 100% of the time, to 0% adherance 100% of the time. And no one day is a failure. It just falls on the spectrum somewhere. Thinking that a 70% day is a failure is a quick path to "eff it" and to 0% adherance. So I'm trying hard to think of each day as where I am on the spectrum, instead of calling a day a success or failure. It's been helpful. That reframing alone is going to help me so much, even after my coaching time is done.

I'm on back shift now, which means I spent my day looking after the kids (I lifted before the younger got up, we went to the library and grocery shopping and did crafts) and tonight I work. Then I go home, sleep, and do it all again tomorrow. Tomorrow's not a weight lifting day, so I think I'm going to take the girls on an early morning hot girl walk.

    Quick tags:

@rorymason oh that is frustrating, sorry I misread. I get that doctors are being squeezed (too many patients, too little time with each), but it is beyond the pale to not even mention pros and cons in light of other things you have going on.

@jenbroussard71 that's so funny you mention hevy, I just started using it to track my weights myself. I love it. I'm so happy to hear you've been hitting PRs without the trainer.

@smlanning69 we've all been where you are, welcome! we engage as much or as little with the thread as we need to, but I hope to see you around some more!

@anneliz35 I'M SO PROUD OF YOU FOR STICKING WITH NO CIGS AND ALSO CONGRATULATIONS ON ONEDERLAND!!!!!!
