80 20 Rule ( Food & Training ) Challenge

Options

Hello fellow lifters,

So about me, I've been weight lifting for about 10 years. I started lifting when I was 20, but only really got serious and dedicated with my training about 5 years in. Since then I've made loads of progress and I'm really happy and proud with it. As I've been transitioning into an intermediate lifter, I've started to understand the importance of things like eating, sleep, water and active rest.

I find it easy to stay dedicated and committed to my weight training, but I haven't given the other 80 as much attention, especially when it comes to eating. So I want to challenge myself to follow a bulking diet plan for a goal of 30 days. I'm already setting some things in place like ordering precooked meals, and overnight oats ... because I like to cook, but I don't like how long it can take + I get decision fatigue!

So since I'm using this app to track my calories, I thought I'd also ask here how some of you stay consistent with food? I train in the evenings and start work at 9am. I go to the office usually 3 times a week and don't really eat there except for lunch time. Food tracking feels a little overwhelming to me sometimes so any advice is much appreciated!

Getting enough food is usually not an issue for me, lol! But I plan out my meals a week in advance, not only for grocery-shopping purposes but also so there's no decisions to be made each day. First I plan the dinners, and pre-log them into MFP so I know the calories/protein for each day. 99% of my lunches are leftovers from previous dinners, so I can mix and match my lunch for the day based upon the dinner numbers - high calorie dinners get smaller lunches, low-protein dinners get high-protein lunches, etc.

I generally find two things that work for breakfast lunch and dinner. I keep those foods around all the time. Then I can switch things up every other day or have the same day after day. I do change up my protein meats for dinner time.
