Trying to love my body and stay consistent 💪

Options

Hi everyone! My name is Nuria 😊

I've always struggled with body image and confidence. For many years, I’ve felt insecure about my body and didn’t know how to take care of myself in a healthy way.

Recently, I’ve lost a little bit of weight and it has motivated me to keep going — but this time, I want to do it with love and consistency, not pressure.

I’m here to stay motivated, learn from others, and feel supported. I would really love to connect with people who also understand how hard it can be to start over and keep going 💛

Thanks for having me!

    welcome to MFP!

Something that really helped me was speaking to myself in kind loving words, and really meaning it this time.

I grew up with a morbidly obese mom who would stand in front of the mirror and cry, literally slap herself, and say,”you fat, ugly kitten” on repeat. And then she’d turn to underweight me and shout angrily “and you’ll be just like me some day”.

I grew up thinking that being overweight was a sin, and that it was inevitable. Hadn’t mom said I’d be just like her? That seed was planted.

It’s not. Honestly, it’s a matter of respecting yourself and changing the language you are used to speaking to yourself.

    “I can’t” becomes “what if I try?”

    “I won’t” becomes “I believe I can”.

“I’ll never” becomes “yes, I can, but not overnight”.

“Quick easy fix” becomes “study learn and implement”.

sometimes the seeds your background plants are for weeds Clear the underbrush and reach the flower hiding inside of it all that is you Silly, trite, but true. You are special, and you are unique. One you. One life to live. You choose how to live it.

Yeah, I was well into my late 50’s before I figured this out but it is genuinely never too late.

Much continued success to you! 😘
