Accountability

Hi there,

Would anyone be interested in an accountability challenge with me?

I am stuck in a rut where I set goals for myself (for example: work out plan, water plan, eat low carb/low sugar)…and on day 3 I fizzle out.

I'm not sure why I have very low discipline but I'm hoping that accountability will help my focus.

My challenge idea:

*Comment every day through August 22nd

*Comment 1 good thing you did to take care of yourself

*Comment 1 thing you would like to work on/a missed opportunity/something you could have done better

What do you think?

Hi ! I would join in on your challenge 🙂! I’m currently 149 , and I’m hoping to lose 13lbs (hopefully before my trip to Italy at the end of September). I need something to keep me accountable too ☺️

hi! I’m going to try your challenge also. I think it’s a good idea. :-). I’ve been struggling with consistency for a long while now. I know some of the whys and all this losing and gaining and losing and gaining is hard on my body.

Lately it seems I am able to stick with it for a few weeks, but then I fall off for a few more and then start back over… again and again and again. It’s been going on for the better part of a year now.

I’m hoping some accountability buddies will help keep me motivated to stay on track for real this time.

*Gawsh I’m like 216ish I think right now, trying for at least under 200 as my first short term goal.

*Today I will have drank 64 oz of water (as soon as I finish this last 8oz) and have logged all my calories for a 3 day streak, go me. Haha

    * I walked about a mile and a half this morning, and had planned ahead of time for today to be my ‘take it easier’ day because Wednesdays are busier for me. But I still feel guilty like I could have done more

    sorry for the long post!

Hi @jkissinger3558 and @gwinhart17 ! Hope your day is going well! Well done on your 3 day streak - I’m also on my day 3 streak and I too keep getting on and falling off ‘the wagon’ so I’m hoping a bit of accountability will keep me on the straight and narrow!

My day went on track yesterday .

Stayed within my 1200 calorie target

Went for a 3 mile walk after work - (saw lots of wildlife- which was lovely 🥰 !)

I did only manage to get 3 pints of water in of my target of 5 - so hoping to achieve that today!

Keeep up the good work 🙂!

Hey! Streak buddies! lol. Hopefully you are on day 4 now as well. Italy, here she comes!! You can do it 🙂 Happy that you got to see lots of wildlife on your walk too, that’s awesome!

Weekdays are easier for me to stay on track. My life is just more structured during the week, Im constantly on the go and I feel like I don’t have as much TIME to mess things up. But weekends are the real challenge, things are just laid back and slower paced so I find myself wanting to eat junk and be lazy! lol

*Today I got up early to go to the gym and do my strength circuit b/c I had an appointment at 9, and I knew if I didn’t go beforehand I would find an excuse not to go. Haha

*I just ate a bowl of my daughter’s Cookie Crisp cereal a little while ago. I am still below my calorie goal so I’m not stressing it too much. But that bowl of sugar, especially not long before bed, I know wasn’t the smartest choice. But consistency over perfection!

jkissinger3558, hope to hear from you soon and that you are doing well!

hi everyone! This is a super idea! Anybody wants to do it for a longer run? Not only to reach the goal but to maintain it? In both cases, I am happy to join if you allow! ☺️

@Pavel_1984 thank you ☺️. And well done on your day too! I definitely want to do it for the long run- maintaining is the hardest bit. I was 200 lbs at my heaviest (about 8 years ago) - I just want to lose this last stone and keep it off. Very frustrating when your body natural wants to be bigger than the weight you are at !
How much are you hoping to lose if you don’t mind me asking 🙂?

@gwinhart17 well done for finding the time and motivation to get to an early gym session 🙂.it must have set you up well for a motivated day! And a bowl of cereal before bed within your calorie allowance is nothing to feel bad about! Well done for staying on track ☺️

I don’t get time to go to the gym but try to get in 3 reformer Pilates sessions a week.
I have the opposite problem with regards to weekday/weekend . I find it easier to stay on track at the weekend . I see my partner at weekends and we are usually active and don’t get the urge to have late night toast when I’m with him 😄. I work in a childminding setting in the week and find myself picking (usually toast again 😂!) which throws me off for the day.
Where is everyone from? I’m from Staffordshire, England. I’m 47 and work as a childminding assistant (currently studying to become registered myself) .

Hope everyone has a great day!

@caroljcritchley hey Carol, thank you for the prompt response and for accepting my invite! ☺️

Just measured my current weight, it is 71.5kg (I guess around 158lbs), planning to drop till around 66kg (145.5lbs), it is the mid of my BMI range. So another 13lbs to go. I guess we are very similar in our goals! 😄🙏 how do you feel about 1200kcal daily? 🙄 I can see a lot of posts and articles saying that it is too low. But I really do feel very nice and light! Planning to bring it to 1,500-1,600 kcal when I reach the goal, and stay there as long as I can 🥰

I am originally from Armenia, currently working in Doha, Qatar, occasionally visiting South Carolina, US. Temperature here reaches 45C degrees (113 Fahrenheit), which is one of the reasons (or excuses 😄) of my low workout level; I cannot just leave the office and walk home to burn some calories. 🥵😅

hello! Tired and almost forgot to check in already, lol. But definitely think that’s a great idea to try to keep it up for longer! Welcome Pavel 🙂. Thanks for the encouragement Carol, day 5 streak now! I’ve never really tried actual pilates but have dabbled a little using you tube videos. I live in Illinois, US and been very humid and hot here as well. I couldn’t imagine 113f!!! Wow! Now I feel bad for complaining about 90’s F. I am blessed enough to not really have to work full time, but I do clean a few houses, our families’ business and some air bNb’s for a little extra money. It’s nice b/c I have the luxury of picking my hours, therefore have the time to drive my kids to and from school/activities/sporting events, and attend gym and get in my walks! Hope you both had a good day and hope tomorrow is even bettter!

Joining in late, if that's okay with y'all. Started logging food on July 3 and have kept it up until today, that's 3 weeks+, yay!

I'm visiting family in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where it's raining today. Can't go for my 30 min walk outdoors, so am planning to go to the gym after visiting brother in his group home, around 2 pm.

Will check in after logging food for the day. Good luck everyone! Today is a new day. :-)

welcome guys! Hope everyone is doing good. I forgot to check in yesterday because I had a few mixed drinks last night, and today I have been lazy and hungover and haven’t really been tracking my calories, so I could be doing better, lol. But I’ve been trying to keep my choices sensible for the most part, i did turn down fast food and made a turkey burger with some sweet potato fries instead, but I also had a chocolate glazed jelly filled donut 😩. im gonna call it a cheat day and get back on track starting immediately! We can do this, not every day will be ideal but that’s okay. Hope you all are doing better, weekends are my guilty pleasure. Lol

Hi. I'll join the challenge. I haven't been consistent in checking the app and logging my foods so hopefully this helps me remember.

After binging out on food I shouldn't have over the weekend, this is my lunch (zucchini and spinach muffin, baked bbq wings, brocolli slaw and kale salad.

One thing my logging in the food diary has helped me with as well as working with the dietician once a month is is that I am recognizing what I see here in the accountability challenge . We all tend to overdo then under do whether its eating sensibly or exercising consistently…..or keeping calorie count consistant. Any thoughts?

Hello guys. Id also like to join in.. yesterday I overate so much that I jumped on the scale and it was 89kg almost. Im overeating again. I really believe the weight gain is happening due to my snacking. Yesterday I decided to take control of my eating again. Today, I didn't Snack. I ate 3 meals and had 2 pieces of fruit in between lunch and dinner. I feel so much better. Goal weight around 78kg.

https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/profile/1011822994/nikilisette38 yes, this! I agree with you 100 percent. I have been struggling so hard lately to find that balance and consistency. I have lost a very LARGE amount of weight multiple times now, (70+ lbs twice, 50 lbs once, and about 30 lbs more recently) obviously I struggle with maintenance. But here I am now at 45 being the heaviest I have ever been in my life!

It’s not like i am lazy or don’t know what I’m doing. I have all the tools, a wonderful support system, more free time than a lot of my peers, the knowledge and even experience (lol). I don’t know if it’s hormones or self sabotage, the fact that I like food, or maybe mental struggles? Idk. If I had to guess I would say all of the above...

Maybe my body is just done with all these huge fluctuations, I feel like I’m at war with myself sometimes. I feel like the key for me is to cooperate with my self/health/body instead of constantly fighting it, and yes, find that balance again. I’m not ready to give up on myself or my health, but I’m so tired of struggling and constantly starting over. Turning over a new leaf so much that the leaf has dissolved, hahahaa.

I realize that instead of framing this as ‘starting over’ everytime I perhaps need see it more as linear. I don’t even know if I’m making sense anymore. I need to get off my phone and do something. Hahaa. Sorry for the rant guys. Just hoping someone in this group can give me the ‘magic key’ I guess. 😂

I would like to join! I want to get down to 148. I have been working out and cutting back on processed vegan foods and bread. This diary is helpful so I can see my patterns.
