I ran 6 miles yesterday and did 3 hill repeats. I think it went well. I definitely need to run hills because the half I am doing in November is very hilly.
@AlphaHowls I got "obliger". That doesn't really surprise me. I haven't even thought about Christmas. I know this will be a tough one for you.
@Scott6255 I'm glad your brother is doing well.
@John772016 My husband made tomato sauce last week from tomato he grew. It was our first time making it and it was great.

I’m back in a freezing New Zealand after a pleasantly warm week in Australia (I could have done with a couple of degrees more heat but it was shorts and T-shirt weather for most of it nonetheless, only cooling down on Friday).
Noosa had awesome running (as my Strava friends will have seen) and it is very beautiful but it was a complete disaster of a holiday as Miss 11 started showing cold/flu symptoms on the plane over and was very unwell the whole time, only starting to come right yesterday in time to fly home, which meant we didn't do much at all. We did make it to Australia Zoo (remember Steve Irwin, the crocodile hunter?) on Friday, which was excellent, but that was all.
I managed to get a minor version of her cold which curtailed my last two runs (and today's). The trip was so bad, it's laughable. The only upside was the food (and cocktails) were very good and the coffee was excellent, which is what I’d expect from Aus.

Morning all
Got in 10.0 miles at 10'19. Hot here today.
@ContraryMaryMary love the zoo wildlife pics! Glad you don't get Salties in NZ! Haha
@AlphaHowls that's a nice photo!
Christmas - haven't thought that far ahead yet.
Usually involves Christmas Eve and Christmas Day lunch at my mother's with my sis, B-i-L and that unit; with Christmas Day dinner and Boxing Day at my in-laws.
Long drives with standard married couple b*tch*ng about each others in-laws, "well at least my mother bothered to…" yaddi yadda yadda

By tomorrow, my crazy busy life will get back to normal and I will have time to run again!

@SummerSkier Your streak is going great. I'm glad the tennis courts are done and you can play again when your friend recovers.
Hahaha @WarmJellyfish . They seem to be good at that.
Nice run, as always @tarun_yadavA .
That's a good idea with the medals @AlphaHowls . That is a really adorable picture of you and your mom. All the firsts are hard. Some more than others. Hugs to you.
Great hill repeats @kgirlhart .
@ContraryMaryMary I'm so sorry that Ms 11 was sick the entire trip. It sounds like you made the best of a bad situation. I hope you feel back to normal soon.
@tarun_yadavA Nice hot running. We can always count on you for your honesty. LOL BTW, I counted yesterday and mom is up to 30 cards. Ninety is looking like a bit of a stretch, but we'll see. Maybe her mailbox will be full all week.

@AlphaHowls The Four Tendency's was fun.
Questioners - “I’ll comply if you convince me why.”
Questioners question all expectations, and they respond to an expectation only if they conclude that it makes sense—in essence, they meet only inner expectations. They’re motivated by reason, logic, and fairness, which can lead to conflict when they don’t have enough information.
And thus, I tend to run alone. :)
… certain strategies for habit change tend to have special appeal for Questioners. For instance, if you’re trying to exercise more, you might:
- Design a habit very specifically to suit your particular character and idiosyncrasies (Strategy of Distinctions)
- Consider exactly why and how a particular habit should be kept (Strategy of Clarity)
- Get more information about your habits by wearing a pedometer or charting your exercise(Strategy of Monitoring).
Ha, she nailed that one.

@ContraryMaryMary wallabies are cute! Sorry about the sniffles.
@AlphaHowls ❤️ hugs. I lost my dad in March. Was glad I made the long trip back to see him in January. I never got to see him much but memories are there.

Ok, so a day behind I could have run consecutive days or schedule a run with a hangover. In the end I did neither, so I am definitively-1 on total no. of runs for the month. But missing a run was probabl the sensible option.
9km, very slow, ie above walking pace but not by much. This is the longest jog since pandemic.
Progress/ Goals August.
Runs...……................…….....4/13
Distance Ttl..........................27km/91km
Distance Ind......................…9km/10km
Run outside................…....…Done.
Fast 5K (post pandemic)…...Done

Nice run. warmup, then 3x 1000m faster, finally 4x200m fast. It will get really hot later next week. Not looking forward to it. I'll probably have to reduce my weights, and will likely not manage to run a lot.

I ran 4.42M at 13:35 out at the beach, before it heats up.
The plan called for an hour run.

Posting two days again. Yesterday, mom and I spent the day at the second estate sale/auction they had at a nearby house. I wound up buying an antique foldable metal lunchbox..from the 1920's. I just thought it was cute and the price was right. I also bought a sewing machine in a cabinet for $25. I figure if I can't use it, I can resale it for at least that much or more. I did a walk on the driveway after I got home and before practicing the piano for church today.
I didn't even think about running yesterday because I had hurt my back at the daycare on Friday. One of those things where I didn't do anything out of the ordinary, but when I stood up from the floor, I got a catch in the lower left side and could barely walk. The rest of the day is would catch periodically, so I was glad I was in an older class that doesn't require a lot of lifting. Thankfully, it is pretty much back to normal today.
Today, after church, mom and I took my neighbor, that helps us mow her yard and does a lot for us, out to lunch for his birthday (which was the end of July). When I got home, I took a nap and then did my Sunday Rest day walk before heading to a church picnic.

I ran 10 miles this morning. It was a nice run. It was hot but I managed to find shade and there was a nice breeze. The last 1.5-2 miles were rough though and I was ready to get home.
Nice shoes @WarmJellyfish !

@quilteryoyo nice purchase - even if you're gonna resell it on eBay!
Btw. You can't use a sewing machine? Or sew full stop? Just curious

Nice run @kgirlhart . I totally know the feeling of just wanting to be done.
Great run @tarun_yadavA . I already have two sewing machines that I need to be using. One of them is having some issues, is the reason I bought this one. But it's old and I'm not sure it works well either. LOL

There are some days or series of days that it is just not gonna happen. I couldn't even log in on Friday to record it LOL The Universe said "sit your @$$ down girl and rest". I was bone tired, no amount of naps or caffiene perked me up. I was cooked, done, out cold.
I suspect that the "cold" that DH and I got last weekend was a bit more than the symptoms let on. Pretty sure 60% of my office was out 1-2 days sick last week and now trickling into this week. So we weren't crazy and it may have manifested more into a energy drain virus for me. DH was congested and tired.
But ready to try again this week. Felt better this morning after so much sleep over the weekend. Food is all packed, really need to work on my water game.
Will slowly catch up with everyone! Have a good week :)

Yes @kgirlhart . I also was just hanging on and wishing I was done today too. It was soooo hot and humid, and no breeze. And even after a cold shower, I sweat for about 30-60 minutes afterward. Does that happen to anyone else? Is there a way to prevent that?

Today might have have been not too good due to three reasons: I had a longer run yesterday. I started running too fast. And it's bloody 27C outside. 😂

Yeah. I have a old fashioned standing floor fan with the big blades that helps cool me down after the shower. I just stand in front of it. I also have discovered cooling the legs helps cool the rest of the body faster.
