Grandparent Scam ... an old one (been around for years) but a popular one.

Please familiarise yourself with popular scams and if anyone asks for money or financial information (credit cards etc) over the phone, hang up.

New to thread and the app. My name is Roxy and I’m from Oregon. Trying to lose some weight and more importantly feel better about myself. 50 hit me hard and with young kiddo I adopted, has me not watching what I am eating and too tired to work out. Now I’m done with the excuses and looking for support and inspiration from others my age. Went to the gym again. First day overdid it and spent last few days suffering for it. 😀. Tomorrow I will start again and take it a little slower. Any tips on good snacks you all like to take when on the run?

I really enjoyed looking at those, Tracey. Wonderful!

Look what I just made. All by myself! The doors were the hardest part as they are heavy. Lining up the tiny holes with the hinges, balancing the door on a pile of books of exactly the right height.
But I've done it!
Hooray! I hope my knees and back recover!

And yes, I have adjusted the slightly wonky knob. 😃 Only saw it in the photo.

Beth - looks like a lovely time in the sunflower fields, even if hot. What a great idea. Happy Belated Anniversary. Glad the truck financial situation got settled to your satisfaction.
Tracey - I can see how easy it is to get wrapped up in your scrapbook project. I really enjoyed looking at the photos, please keep posting. 😁 When is your trip back home? I think it's interesting that the place we grew up will always be "home". I'm the same way - I've lived over half my life out here but home is Indiana.
Roxy in Oregon - welcome. One of my favorite on-the-run snacks is a small package of nuts. However, I came to the conclusion that being a little hungry while on the run/between meals is not a bad thing, depending on how long it will be until the next meal. On the flip side, a small package of nuts is better than just taking a few from a large open bag with the rest of them commanding "eat me!" 😁
Rori - ah, you can tell everyone you were at Woodstock. However, this time Janis Joplin, Richie Havens, CCR, The Who, Jimi Hendrix and others didn't make an appearance. (I wore out those records when I was in college. AI just reminded me of who all played there.) Looks like you had a great time with N and visiting everyone. Glad you could touch base with your friend's DH, I'm sure it meant the world to him since you were unable to make it to her funeral.
Barbie - hope the biopsies come out OK. Glad you went to the dermatologist and got checked out. A big virtual treat is coming to Annie for behaving while mommy was gone.😍
Heather - beautiful cabinet. What a great feeling to finally have that project done and being able to utilize it.
The thermometer hit 97F at my house yesterday afternoon. 😣 Projected high today will be 75F. Two years ago this week it reached over 100F. This is county fair week - seems the hottest weather for kids showing their animals and the fair-goers always lands this time of year.
Rosie the sheepdog is going to the groomer this morning to be transformed into Rosie the schnauzer once again. She hates riding in the car so I'll throw the dog crate in the back of the Sube and she can serenade me all the way to the groomer.
I have an appointment with a tax accountant tomorrow morning. A first for me, having done my own taxes all my life (with the help of Tax-Act and other online tax prep businesses). I don't want to mess up any opportunities to save $$ on taxes and want to verify that I'm picking up all of the deductions with the new federal tax laws recently passed. It's a firm recommended by Roger from across the street.
Today is SWSY day - I can already tell a difference in the couple weeks I've been doing their strength training routine. Advice to you younger ladies in your 50's and 60's: find an exercise routine you like and can do without injury, even walking on a regular basis has great benefits. And do it on a regular basis, even when you don't feel like it. The rewards are powerful and very valuable as you age. Never too early to start.

Morning ladies
Didn't sleep well last night but what can you do..this was my home for 20 yrs I should be used to it.But still weird..anyway Alfie is a good boy and off to see the APRN in a few

Rori just found DH Woodstock album. Quite a who's who's of musicians from that period! Thanks for sharing!

Welcome Roxy in Oregon: I can't think of any favorite snacks. I do sometimes take the bag of spinach into the family room and munch on this! I also allow myself some popcorn! I did do the GLP-1 shots for 6 months and lost 10 pounds. Portion control and resistance training seem to be very involved with weight loss! With the shots I really learned how small the portions need to be..even like the salmon and other proteins need to be measured.
Best,

Morning, my chicks, from the not-too-hot-yet Arkansas River Valley,
Heather - The cabinet is lovely, I hope it provides what you needed. Well done putting it together! Always nice to know we can still do stuff, isn't it. And yeah, I thought Cas was quite cute, especially her responses to the narrator.
Egg is using my desk as a jungle gym, as you can see by the images… she looks so lovely and peaceful in the first one, and then just bounced all over the place before all was said and done, pulled things out of bins, pushed things off the table…
Kind of like living with a furry toddler who starts out wanting to get your attention in any way possible. Then just starts having fun. She's now snoozing, and back in "I'm a little angel" mode. It's a visual fib… 😹😂😉🥰
Lanette - I think I've mentioned my best friend is a certified tax preparer. It has been so nice over the years. She and I were fully online before most of them went that way. I need to go through my expenses this year, though, and put them all in an Excel spreadsheet for her. She will run the numbers for me to see if it's worth claiming a home business for all the stuff I make and the minor cost of keeping it up online for sale.
Rori - Always good to see your smiling face. So glad you enjoyed your time with N. Is it a relief to fold back into your life with Mars, the Leash-Loving Cat? Or do you miss N for quite some time after one of your long visits?
Roxy in OR - Glad you're here, chime right in! My go-to snacks are light string cheese and crackers. Don't even need to be be on the run… 😂
Need to get outside and get a little water on Corey's garden. It's still producing, and in fact, we'll be able to do another batch of marinara this weekend.
After our trip to Sam's, we went through the freezers, rearranged them all so things were easy to find again, and got some of the older things to the front. Corey has a couple of steaks from 2003 that need grilling the next time he gets the grill going! We should be OK for the major things we buy in bulk and freeze for three to four months. If not longer.
Which reminds me, I need to get a package of chili out, am combining that with a whole bunch of other things for a kind of cornbread bake for dinner. Was dreaming about it last night.
Later, my darlin' peoples…
Love,
Lisa in AR7 -
Ok, had to share - two things from my daughter.
If you can read that first one without making that noise, you're a stronger person than I am! 🥰
And Levi's last soccer game of the year, along with his mama, the coach:
Only nine more months 'til I get to see him and his sister again! By then, they'll BOTH be taller than me. 😂
Sure do miss 'em.

Gorgeous boy and mum, Lisa. Tugs at your heart, doesn't it.
Rori - So happy for you. You sooooo deserve your good fortune. But then, you tilled the field ready for the seeds to drop.
Waitrose is coming in 15 mins. Lots of goodies for the kids tomorrow. Plus the one dish I buy ready prepared, Pommes Dauphinoises. Having it with ham and green beans tonight. Minimal prep.
The lunch was nice, with lots of dips and appetisers, but the service was less than lacklustre. That annoyed me. But it was good to see John's friend and his wife. I walked the mile there.
Forgot to tell you all about our plum bounty this year. Victoria plums. John has been stewing them for a few weeks and they are heavenly.

😀 Lisa, Your description of Egg getting your attention then playing then settling down is just like Annie except that Annie weighs 50 pounds, has jaws capable of doing damage and can stand on her hind feet on the floor and put her paws on my shoulders. She greeted me like that when I came back from my extra long walk this morning. Now she is lying down with a toy.

Allie, exactly why I don't take Nexium. It interfers with one of the drugs I'm on. Besides, I tried it and it didn't work.
Pic of calf I am feeding a bottle to. So cute!☺️
Lisa, Egg reminds me of Lucy! She has a lot of energy and goes from nice quiet lap-dog to the Tasmania Devil from the cartoons in a split second! Glad we are in an RV for her puppyhood! I can control her crazyness somewhat along with less damage! I do walk her at least twice a day, 3 if its not too hot. Anything over 95 degrees is way too hot for me! I have to avoid cement and paved areas in the afternoon so Lucy doesn't burn her feet.
Working at visitor center today then feed calf and put dogs out. Go home, have lunch then bring the dogs bag in where I am house-sitting. Walk my puppy if it is cool enough, or at least let her run her energy down out back if there aren't many campers around. The campground has been almost empty the last week. Too hot for people.
Thought for Today:
What does a polar bear call a seal on a skateboard?
Meals on Wheels.
What did the mama cow say to their calf when she caught it staying up late?
Hay, it's pasture bedtime!

Feeling chatty today. I bought this top for the cruise. It's arriving on Saturday. Cruises are the one time in my life when I wear sparkles. We have two or three formal nights. The sequins look lovely under the lights. If I don't like it I can send it straight back, as it's Prime.
And no, I won't be getting my arms out. I have a long, black, beaded, crochet cardigan, which covers a multitude of sins. I'll be wearing it with my long black velvet skirt. I have a very glittery necklace.

Machka ~ Thanks for posting those common scams! The first one was exactly what we went through on Monday. My husband has finally realized that he doesn’t have to answer the phone every time it rings unless it’s a number we recognize. We lost a good bit of money due to that.
Tracey ~ What a wonderful job you have done memorializing your family history. So glad you had access to and kept all the family photos.
Heather ~ That cabinet looks great. I would never have been able to put it together by myself like you did. Know you will enjoy using it and it looks good in the nook.
Rori ~ Wow! Sounds like you had a wonderful time away. So glad you have found your N person! He seems to be a keeper.
Lisa ~ Thanks for sharing all the photos of Egg. Looks like she is trying to get that pencil off the table. Is the steak Cory is grilling still edible from 2003? Love all the photos you share.
Lanette ~ Did your hen (can't remember her name) get over her feeling poorly?
Annie ~ Good thoughts for your dad! He is blessed to have you there to help him.
Barbie ~ So glad you have your Annie and that she didn’t destroy the house after you left her to go to the dermatologist.
Not much going on in my day but wishing everyone a good day and evening!

Atta girl Heather.you will look smashing
Well got most things sorted with The APRN, but go for bloodwork Monday again.next month will be 6 months post transplant..they doubled up on the nexus for the GERD,the nauseousness is most likely side effect of one of the meds they increased and for now I have to live with it.
Tracy is in a mood so im staying clear…she is ticked off that she is home by herself with 2 kids and I come for 1/2 - hour once a week or so and its not like it used to be and there is no family around etc…
I told her im doing my best 5 months post transplant Im tired alot and have drs appointments ,and would spend more time, but she goes at lunchtime to see Kyle each day and I stay clear on the weekends cause he is home
I do my best with getting things that she needs for the kids etc..but it hurts my feelings that she feels that way..must be pregnancy hormones
Stopped at home took my Trulicity shot and got a shopping bag ,stopped at the store picked up a few things and im back with Alfie

Heather - You will look wonderful in that top.
Carol - That two-year-old steak is absolutely edible. It's been solidly frozen the whole time, with all the oxygen removed (by the vacuum sealer, the thing we call "the bag sucker," 😹) so no ice crystals at all. The few electricity outages we've had, we plug the freezers in first to the gas-powered generator to make sure we don't lose that investment! There should be no lessening of taste or quality. The only things we've lost over the years have been the ones my husband has put in without labeling them, or ones that we decided we'd never use.
Barbie - Just had an image of what a 50-pound Egg could accomplish in a playful mood. (Yet another sentence you don't see every day! 🥰) You have my complete sympathy.
Allie - Tracey has kind of put herself in a box, hasn't she. Hard to deal with when there's no one else to blame for your situation. Try not to let it hurt you. Keep taking care of yourself, girl. Sorry there wasn't a better result from the appointment.
Got a bit of writing done, got the garden and my flowers watered - that 1/4" of rain we got a few nights ago filled up my rain barrel, so they'll get good water for another few weeks… hopefully rain again in about ten days.
Snagged another dozen tomatoes off Corey's plants, and they're ripening on the kitchen window sill. Dragged my router inside and did some work on the door to the water heater. After taking the door down to paint, and using a few screws to set the frame back in correctly, the door wouldn't shut… so I used the router to take down the inside edge of the frame. It isn't pretty, but it's functional. And considering it's the water heater closet, not terribly worried about whether the inside frame looks beautiful… 😂😹Will hit it with some paint when we paint the bedroom.
Got the dishwasher through its cycle, some breakfast in me, and most of the sawdust off me from the router… turns out not wearing a bra makes being sawdusted a lot less traumatic! 😂 I highly recommend it.

we lived with that set of grandparents for a year while we built the house where mom still lives. It was so different living in town. I am sure it would have been even more different if the town was bigger- 5,000 I think at that time, maybe less. With my nieces/nephews, they are 4th generation born in the same little town. Everyone knows everyone and with 10 kids in dad's family, we were related to many of them :)

Well, the store mgr at BK told me she looked at the video of people in the refrig and it seems that people, for whatever reason, changed the date stickers. They didn’t realize that I already had them on. Really? Well, I knew something was wrong so that explains it. Not sure why they felt they had to do that
As far as Exodus Works: she mentioned it to the guy who is going to be buying the store (and some others) and he feels that they can handle it, even in Feb. Well, I tried, that’s all I can say.
Did get to WalMart yesterday. Just very cloudy today so Ganon gets a walk (and I get my steps in)
deb – I don’t think I ever walked to school. But, oh, how I remember walking home! Today people would look at how far it was and say “you walked THAT?”
Vince is still feeling bad, very sluggish, achey, foggy headed. I can’t help but wonder if it isn’t the flu. He’s supposed to go to the MD later today.
I just got this new scam email. It said that I provided the information that I was 62 pounds (I wish) and that I wanted to get to 59 pounds and to click on this link to find out how I can do it. Thank god for the “delete” button, that’s all I can say
Rori – I’m just so very happy for you. Great romance, great places. You deserve it all.
Annie – HUGS
Went to ceramics last night and picked up my cat welcome sign. Vince doesn’t think we’ll go tomorrow since Yoga & Chewy have a vet appt at 4. by the time we get out of the vet’s office, home and have dinner, it’ll probably be too late. Personally, I’d go to the vet early
Sounds like they’re mowing our grass. To me, it’s really too wet
Tracey – If I can, I like to give people a second chance. I know if I needed it, I would like someone to do it for me. But there’s so much I can do. I suggested BK use them, but they feel that their turnover rate would be higher. As if it didn’t go higher with that non-English speaking person? At least he’d speak English and if needed can do other things. But at least I tried.
For my aunt’s 90th birthday (my godmother) I tried to find her (and my mother’s) biological father but was never able to. We think what happened is that on a payday he never came home so the suspicion is that he was pushed into an open mine. I was able to get the manifest when he came over to the US, census forms, but after a certain date I could not find a thing about him. But she did enjoy reading the census form and remembering all the neighbors she had growing up.
Roxy – welcome! Personally, I like to keep some nuts in my gym bag and if I’m home running out the door, I tend to like to take a piece of fruit or a carrot to munch on.
Heather – great job on the cabinet
Off to take Ganon for a walk.

Oh my stars, Carol, I just realized you were right, that I typed in 2003, when I meant, of course, the steak was labeled 2023! I am a goober. Corey and I had neither met nor married in 2003. 😉

Always good to see your smiling face. So glad you enjoyed your time with N. Is it a relief to fold back into your life with Mars, the Leash-Loving Cat? Or do you miss N for quite some time after one of your long visits?
Lisa: I don't leave Mars for more than 2 weeks no matter how much I am enjoying adventures with N. He and I had separate happy, productive lives before we met and so now after each "date" we easily get back to our home routines. We text every morning and talk about once a week.Thats about all I can handle.
Heather: Love the cabinet. Midcentury modern inspired furniture is my favorite. And that sparkly top screams cruise formal. How much more time before you leave?
Tracey: Your photo albums are quite special
Pip: Beautiful memorial. Ethel is a very lucky girl.
I took a sleep test a couple nights ago and saw the results posted this morning. I have "moderate" sleep apnea. I fully expect my pcp will be calling soon to discuss. I welcome any and all advice from those of you who have this same condition. TIA.
It's Colorados turn for smokey skies and super hot temps. I'll be staying inside for next couple of days, much as I would love to be at the pool. Add me to the gang looking for a copy of "Meditation for Mortals".
Stay well, friends. We can do this.

Hello ladies, well my "no logging" didn't last long. I'm back at it. Its kind of my north star, was feeling a bit fish out of water without doing it. Nervous I wasn't eating enough etc.
Todays diary and liquid consumption:
Back to doing what I know.
Heather- Fantastic job on the cabinet! The best part is you put it together on YOUR terms. Also vavaavooom with the sparkling corset! You will be gorgeous as always! So exciting!
Rebecca Whidbey Wa

Rebecca - Of course! No judgment here, either way. I've learned that nothing is harder to let go of than control. If logging makes you feel you're more in control, then it is a very good thing for you. Everything is individual. Well done on your 30+ pound loss, keep taking good care of yourself, dear heart.

Hi all,I'll let Tracy stew awhile and let her get her crankies out..Im doing my best I love them all and she said last week she will need help when the 3rd one comes along.
