Rita- what a fun job bottle feeding that calf, and a nice arrangement to help them out - critter sitters are sometimes hard to find.

Lisa - so neat that your best friend is a tax preparer. I've spent all day today, off and on, preparing a few spreadsheets to take with me. Plus, they said to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. I'm not sure what all they want but jotted down a few things that I don't easily remember. I figure if they wanted comprehensive detailed information, they would have emailed me something. 😁

Rebecca - so sorry to hear about Tucker. I bet you sis is beside herself, I know he's a big part of her world right now. I know you're anxious to see her again. 😊

Heather - love that sparkly top. Hope it fits fine and anxious to see you model it. 😍

Rori - sorry the smoke and hot temps are hitting your area. That reminds me - there was a film in 1961 called "Summer and Smoke" starring Laurence Harvey, Geraldine Page and Rita Moreno. Might be fun to watch some time, I know I watched it decades ago. There were some neat films made in the 1950's and 60's.

It's fairly warm and muggy out right now. Weatherman missed it - temp has climbed to 83F. But still, much better than yesterday. Rain is still in the forecast for Friday, then temps possibly climbing back up into the mid-80's. I am anxious for August to be over, but it's been nice being able to go outside without a sweater.

Awe, I try. I know that I might need her emotional support in whatever things life has in store for me. I think she is the strongest person I know. That she calls me for help, or to vent, well its the true meaning of family.πŸ’–πŸ‘πŸΌ

    A bit on scams …

This is the Australian Cyber Security Centre - Australian Government

    https://www.cyber.gov.au/

This is a quiz, on that site, asking: How cyber secure are you?

    https://www.cyber.gov.au/learn-basics#quizcontainer

This part of the site has Types of scams
Learn about the common types of scams, how to identify them and how to recover from them.

    https://www.cyber.gov.au/learn-basics/watch-out-threats/types-scams

One type of scam falls under "Threats and extortion". This is the most common one I encounter. I'm constantly getting voice mails telling me that the Department of Homeland Security (a United States department) has found a serious error with my immigration! The message sounds very serious and scary and would almost make me wonder if something was wrong … except I immigrated to Australia, not the United States. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

    Threats and extortionΒ

These scams use threats to frighten you into giving away money. It can include threats to your life, arrests or deportation. Scammers have been known to target vulnerable people like elderly or migrants. For example, they may pretend to be government officials from the Department of Home Affairs or the Australian Federal Police, and tell you that there are problems with your visa or immigration papers, threatening to deport you unless fees are paid. Another common scam is when cybercriminals pretend to be from the Australian Taxation Office, and ask for payment for outstanding tax debts. They will threaten arrest or legal action if you do not comply.

And another government site with a list of common scams: https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/types-of-scams and how to spot a scam: https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/stop-check-protect/help-to-spot-and-avoid-scams

    https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/

You all probably have similar sites with similar advice in your countries.

Here are a couple Canadian government cyber security sites: https://www.cyber.gc.ca/en and https://www.getcybersafe.gc.ca/en

I follow these government sites on Facebook and LinkedIn to try to stay up to date.

Machka -Β I could ask my PT people, but it would put them in a bad position legally. If they did the Epley Maneuver and accidentally hurt me, they could be subject to a major lawsuit, because they have a very specific issue they're treating, and vertigo isn't in the referral. I won't put them in a place where they have no choice but to say "no." Not fair to them.

Do you have to be referred to a PT?

I just go to the ones here like you would to a chiropractor, podiatrist, dentist, etc..

They're often the first place I'll go if I have joint, muscle, etc. types of pain or limited movement or whatever. Some places specialise in certain body parts, most are general. If I had dizziness, I'd go to a general PT practice and ask if they had someone who has taken training in vestibular issues. If they do, I'd book an appointment and get it dealt with.

If a PT figures I need an MRI or something, they'll send me to my GP who will order it and that's often the GP's first involvement in the situation.

Except that we can get a "Plan" made up by our GPs to give us discounts on 5 or 7 or so PT types of appointments (includes things like podiatrists etc.) each year. So once a year, we go to the GP for our annual appointment and at the same time, we renew our Plan.

Is yours a specialist PT? We couldn't have asked the PT who treated my husband's ruptured Achilles tendon after the surgery repair to do the Epley Manoeuvre because he specialises in feet and ankles.

I've been thinking I really should do something about my left shoulder but I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to check if there's a PT place with good reviews, close to where I work, that specialises in shoulders or upper body limbs.

Machka - Not necessarily in order, but yes, if I want the VA to pay for it, I must get a referral from my general practitioner. If I choose to use Medicare, it still requires my doctor to refer me, I'm afraid. Insurance companies rule the healthcare system, by and large. To my knowledge, mine is not a specialist. I've seen few specialized physical therapists, but I assume they do exist in our system, as well. I think they tend to be more functionally based, as in Sports PT or Geriatric PT. Could be wrong, though. I could probably pay cash to the PT, but it would be more than I pay any other way. They charge $300 to the VA for each visit. They don't get that much, the VA pays about half that, but that's also the way all health insurance works in this country. Negotiated pricing.

Stopped in between chores - tomatoes are picked, garden and flowers are watered, rugs are washed, but need to go out on the line, and then more vacuuming where the rugs were…

    Later, my dears,
    Love,
