This weekend's exercise …
Yesterday friends of ours and their mum, my husband and me went out to a lovely Chinese restaurant for lunch. There were 2 recent birthdays at the table - my husband's and their mum's.
We haven't had Chinese food for a long time! We've tried a couple places and it hasn't been good. But this was very good.
This weekend …
I've unpacked quite a few boxes in my scary home office room - all books.
I rearranged the tops in my closet so that they're organised by colour.
I've done all sorts of laundry.
And I've been working on stuff for my cycling club.

Masking up for the next two days and will put off extra outside work until Tuesday! Feel for those in Canada!

Good morning my friends!
Thanks for encouraging me to get back on track. My journey is full of little side stops, but I like to think I always come back to it.
Barbie I'm glad they let you into Costco.
Rebecca so glad you met the challenge and found a solution! You are doing so well!
Rosemarie we are concerned about those polyps.
Barbara hope you feel better! But I'm glad you tried the outing. I'm one to sit home in case it's bad and I miss out on a lot that way.
Pip I love that pic of Ethel she looks so happy to sit for you! She knows what a wonderful dog mom you are.
Lisa roast tomatoes ginger and basil sounds delicious!
Heather 1.5 miles is a great walk, and that view!
Machka yay for progress on chores! You get so much done!
Well I bought a copy of Meditations for Mortals. Anything that helps with perfectionism will be fantastic!
I need to do my application to start a writing group at the library. It's open until five tonight and I really need to turn this in. Otherwise I spend too much time rotting on the couch. I need to challenge my mind more.
Have a great day ladies! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

I'm aware of what they are Machka, but I thought that MFP had dealt with the issue a year ago! I'm tired of having to do it myself. I got another two today and one of them is the same one over and over and over, daily!

Heather: Meditations for Mortals: 4 Weeks to to Embrace Your Limitations and Make time for What Counts by Oliver Burkeman. This is exactly what i need. It is 13.99 here on Kindle. I will check Thriftbooks and see if I can get it used.
I was about to tell Machka I am busy but conflicted! I can't decide what activities to do and what not to do! i am rather ADD and making friends is not that easy for me. I am motivated though! It would help if I had grandchildren or a sister! My son has been coming over more though!
And I was about to tell RVRita the weather is partly why I am conflicted. I do not cut the lawn with temps over 90 degrees. I am tense that my day must be done by 10 am! I can't wait for Fall!
Rebecca: I am still struggling with my diet! I don't gain, but don't lose. I need more resistance exercises and an appetite suppressant. Not that I eat that much…just too much I guess!
Lisa: I will have to explore Ginger. I enjoy Basil. I have tried to cut back on Amazon Prime use…because of the boxes. All my trash needs to fit into the green bin. And I hate breaking up boxes! The Convenience Center will recycle cardboard so really the boxes should be taken there!
Lanette: Thank you for the tip about Walmart for Hummus!
Annie: I had to cut sugar from my coffee. I went to Stevia. I hope that is an okay choice. I like the taste! I am back to using th treadmill in my garage!
PIPCD: Yogi's love and spirit continue on! So lovely to have his ashes at the ocean! I might do that myself!
Allie: Hoping you have a good visit with Alfie.
Barbara: Sigh! The MD wants to repeat the colonoscopy! I don't eat meat. There is certainly no bread in the house. I have no idea what is in my colon! I am not a vegetarian, I just don't enjoy meat so much. Maybe the GLP 1 shot I took for 6 months slowed motility!
It is a cooler morning! I could be going to church, doing a yoga class or tending the garden! Instead I am reading for book club and reading this thread! The house is pretty clean though!
Best,
Rosemarie from GA

Lanette the gentleman that died here had 2 daughters. Sadly he fully prepared for the suicide. He had bought plane tickets and arranged for his daughters to come here and take care of everything. He had his death all planned out, including the cremation for his remains. The daughters only had to come down and supervise. Most of it was thrown away and a local camper sales place came and took the camper away. Also, thank you, I am feeling fine now. It is just so hot here this week. Glad fall is coming. I do my puppy walk around 6:30 am, sunrise here, then an evening puppy walk about sunset.
Pecans, there are a LOT of pecan orchards around here. I keep asking DH to stop when we drive by a place that sells them. So far, I keep forgetting and he doesn't stop. We also have a farm that sells fresh pistachios, another place I would love to stop at some time when we remember! LOL
Rosemarie, we only use Stevia. We haven't had sugar in the house in over 5 years! Only Stevia. We have both the liquid version and the powdered. Once you get used to it, sugar becomes too sweet! Stevia is made from a stevia plant, nothing artificial. I grew one when I lived in TN. Pretty plant!

Try changing your profile pic to something more masculine so the code doesn't register your gender.
And no, MFP has never successfully dealt with the issue. Facebook has the same issue and they haven't been able to solve it either.
It's a whack-a-mole situation. Not easy to solve.

Hey, kids,
On the bot-u-lizzm we are infected with in MFP, I hadn't realized it, but when I changed my profile pic away from my face, to mostly the phone with my hair around it, the bot issues subsided sharply. Many fewer requests.
Barbara AHMOD - The painting icon was for both, actually. We plan to finish painting the hallway, if not the bedroom, this morning. And I finally settled on what I want to paint on the refrigerator and sketched in the penciled outline yesterday. When I decide on something but can't make myself start, I've finally realized, it's because it was not the right decision. I just have to wait it out.
The Sam's trip went well yesterday, stuck with what we knew we could get cheaper in bulk, like dishwasher pods. I did try using the Walmart liquid, but it left too much stuff stained or dirty. The pods work first time, every time.
Chicken breasts again for dinner - Corey wants to try some breaded, and I want to try a couple of breasts in that same type recipe, but with Bang Bang spice rub. Should be interesting.
Before we tackle the paint, we'll get a lot of portioning done and bagged with the vacuum bagger, and get the freezers set so things are easy to find.
And, my husband just informed me, it's time to start that…
Later, my chickens,
Love,

I dyed my hair today to hide the white and now I am blonde again. My hair is longer than this and it's very blonde. I will probably tone it down with something darker this week.

For me, my weight has perched on a ledge for a long while before going up or down. I envision my body catching its breath before it moves to its next perch. The stalls are when our bodies gain strength to its next challenge!

😀 Meditations for Mortals. I found it through my public library and Libby and enjoyed it free and often. There are interviews with Oliver Burkeman on You Tube that are interesting and helpful to listen to.
😀 The goofy friend requests It's not that hard to to dismiss them without a lot of wasted energy.
😀 Coffee and sweetening, I gave up drinking coffee when I realized that it was the sweet stuff that I liked.
😀 Pecans, my walking friend who travels to Texas to visit family has brought pecans back for me, but now that she's traveling elsewhere, I've had to buy them at the store.
😀 I am fortunate that I wake up before 5 AM so I can get all the walking I want before it is too hot for me. Since I don't drink coffee, that is one less thing I have to do first thing in the morning.
😀 I got up before 5 this morning, walked the dogs for a few minutes, fed us all breakfast (same thing every morning, so no time wasted making a decision), attended an online spiritual meeting, walked the dogs again, walked by myself, drove to the store to pick up the week's groceries, watered everything that needed watering, and have 8200 steps and am nearly ready for lunch. It's warm here so I'll spend the afternoon in the house.

Barbie: I checked. I had to place a hold on Meditations for Mortals on Libby. Several Months wait the App says. This is pretty common here with the books I request. But the book group decides the books months in advance. So the moment I know we will be reading a book I request it from Libby.
I must admit I love, love having audio books while I drive. And I love the Maps APP and being able to have audible and Spotify in the car. I am very happy driving these Middle GA country roads with audio books playing!
My lifestyle this summer is rather similar to Barbie's. I do drink coffee and this does slow me down! but I have walked the dog at 5:30 in the dark, and been ready for a morning Meditation zoom group at 6:30 almost daily!
I am seldom in a grocery store. This week I had food delivered from Aldi's. I loved the flounder and packaging…some would say over packaging..of the fish. But the fish and shrimp last much longer. For Kroger I try and do the Kroger pick up and bundle it with other errands or activity.
My down fall has been exercising. If I don't exercise by noon, I probably won't exercise that day. I might do a half mile around the house in the evening. I have only been 20 times to the GYM this year. There is a pool though and I like knowing there is a pool I can use.
My downfall is starting any business like calls or tasks in the morning. Such a time drag!
And I am still driven …for some reason..to try and connect with people. Maybe a dopamine thing??? Yesterday I drove to a park I had not been to… for a 12 noon nature walk with a guide. I was the only one that turned up! Well I had a nice walk with the young college student hired to facilitate the walk. At least it was a nicer day outside!
My son gave me short notice that he and his wife wanted to come over and watch the soccer. Although Atlanta has gotten pretty sad winning wise. And I thought of the time MachKa wrote what was so difficult about cleaning the house. run the vac and I forget what else she wrote,,,' my house has actually been decluttered so much, that I finally agreed with her. I was rather pleased with how well the house cleaned up in an hour!

Hi ladies!
Just caught up on your last few days and must tell you how inspiring this group is. So much genuine warmth, and quite a bit of shared wisdom, lightens my heart to know you exist.
I'm an empty-nester for at least 3 months. My son's back at Antelope Valley College for the fall semester and my daughter's taking an extended vacation before moving to Hawaii. September will be busy, but I'm hoping enjoy the quiet for the rest of August.
I had a birthday this week (59), which I wasn't looking forward to; getting past it feels better, if a bit anticlimactic.
The puppy is doing great. Learning to sit. Not learning to come. Already outgrowing his crate.
We have terrible air quality this weekend due to fires to our west, and my heart goes out to those in France hit worse.
Take care!

Carol - I saw your blonde hair on Facebook. I think it looks very nice. Maybe find out if blondes have more fun?😁
Heather - such a nice walk. So much to see. Love the photos. Hope your UTI keeps getting better. Worrisome and messes up life when you want to go somewhere and not be bothered having to find facilities.
Rosemarie - it's good to want to be around people! I think it's better for you in the long run than being too introverted. Having a college student all to yourself for a nature walk? I'm jealous. 😀 Early morning is so nice for dog-walking.
Carla - you must be popular with the bots. I only get a couple per month. Strange, when I go to delete them, I get a 404 notice (if I remember correctly) page not found. Then after going through that, it takes me to another page where I can delete them. I only check who's trying to friend me on MFP every few weeks since I'm always sure they're bots.
Barbie - I love hearing about Annie's progress in training. My old schnoodle, Sophie, removed squeakers well into her old age. I'd let the toys pile up then do a massive squeaker replacement. I learned to stitch the toys back together with silk thread - almost impossible to chew through at the seam. She'd still manage, it just took her longer. Good job on the early walk this morning.
No early morning walk for me today - I took off before dawn and went to Safeway. I haven't driven in the dark in ages, took the country road to town. Wanted to get there and back before the heat set in, and hoped to pull my car in the garage and let it cool down with the garage door open before I buttoned it up when the thermometer started to rise. Otherwise, hot garage = hot house.
I had great luck at the store. For once, everything that was on my list was in stock - barely, but enough. Sometimes going real early, the aisles are jammed with food still in boxes that haven't been put on the shelf yet, so it's a waste of time. Today, I wanted mushrooms - one box left. 😀 Chopped kale - one package left.😀 Cottage cheese - 2 boxes left (I only needed one.) 😀Cannelini beans - 2 cans left and I took them both.😀
I did a little research about the heating problem with my Dell laptop. Yes it's running "warm" but still within the normal threshold, and just running a couple degrees above ambient room temperature while sleeping, which is fine. It's more noticable in my warm kitchen/dining room these days. I also have many tabs open at once which isn't good - my DH whispered that in my ear. 😁I remembered him commenting about it. I might call the computer store tomorrow just to double check. I guess they make cooling pads for laptops that heat up too much (when gaming for example) so it must be a common concern.
Also found out that this cheap little Acer Chromebook prints and scans no problem, unlike my old HP with W11 and the Dell with W10 where the blasted scan feature had been well-hidden. I haven't tried them lately, maybe a recent update has fixed it. Still not ready to upgrade the Dell to W11.
It's 89F here right now, will probably see 94F later this afternoon. Two more days. Bird baths were filled this morning, hens just got a bowl of cold water so the critters are happy. I have the AC set at 74F and a nice fan blowing in the living room so I'm comfortable.
Reminder that tomorrow is Weekly Check-in for those participating.🤩
Keep cool!

Last night was the first time Lucy slept on our bed all night. She was following me around and I thought she wanted to go outside because that’s what she usually does, took her out for a little walk and nothing, came back in and again, took her outside and nothing. She followed me to the bedroom so I put her on the bed and she stayed there.
Today was the first time I had Ethel off leash for a bit. I was expecting her to run towards the beach but she just walked ahead and was sniffing. She looked back every once in awhile to make sure we were still there. When she got too far ahead, I called to her and she came right back. I think yogi customer ordered her for us, except she doesn’t sleep on our bed ;0(

Kim – happy birthday!
Lanette – J&C don’t really know how long they’ll be staying. I have a strong suspicion that they’re looking to buy a house, but I don’t think they know in what area. So we shall see
Did the core part of the Cardio Core DVD. Then did a pilates DVD. I don’t think I’ll keep that one – too much dancing
Did some HIIT Thurs. Vince basically told Denise that we’re coming on the 19th. Really, we need to book the hotel, I need to tell BK. That’s done.
Got up today, exercised, took Ganon for a walk, went to Aldi, put yogurt into the IP, went in the pool, weeded some, made a banana bread for us. I THINK we’re going out to dinner. Not sure where. The rain cooled the pool off to where it’s now refreshing
Barbara – I heard from another guy at BK that the guy who delivers their bread was in the hosp. Well, I saw him Sat. and we were talking. Basically, in the heat he got so dehydrated that his kidneys started to shut down
barbie – that was so nice of that guy to let you into Costco
Rosemarie – I tend to eat too much of the good things
Jess Vince and I went to dinner tonight at this Japanese place. Not bad, but I was so full I brought half of mine home. I got the shrimp and chicken with broccoli, carrots and mushrooms. Only water to drink. Took Ganon for a very short walk since it was getting dark outside
Lisa – the pods at Sams were rated quite highly by Consumers Reports which is why I use them too
Ange – happy birthday
Allie – makes me feel so good knowing how well Alfi is
pip – yes, I’m sure Yogi ordered Ethel for you
Need to take a shower and want to get to bed. Don’t know why, but I’m so very tired.
Good thoughts to everyone and prayers for those who need it.

Happy birthday Ange! Hope you had a good one.
Had a good weekend. Very warm but didn't have a lot that needed to be done outside. Mostly cleaned house as we have company coming on Friday. DD has her birthday on Wednesday. We are going to wait until her friend gets here to celebrate. Also got some things together for the rummage sale at church.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA

Good morning my friends!
Rosemarie Yay for the treadmill! And I think everyone has to find their balance with how much people interaction they want. I find it depends on what else is going on. The worse Dad gets at conversation, the more I need to talk to other people.
Lisa I thought you already painted your fridge some time ago. Am I remembering wrong?
Ange happy belated birthday!
Allie Yay for visiting Alfie!
Debbie I love that rock with the footsteps!
As for sweeteners, I'm fine if I stick to one cup of tea with honey each morning. But if I start getting into the ice cream and cookies, I only want more more more! Dad's diet is getting worse. He eats a lot of ice cream and cookies. He can do that much himself but otherwise he is lost in the kitchen. Which is a good thing. I don't have to worry about him and the stove.
Well I was complaining about dishes to my friend Saturday, and now the dishwasher quit draining. It's probably a clogged filter, but I'm going to call a repair person today. So I have to wash a load by hand which isn't the end of the world but the chore weighs heavy on me. Probably because I need more of a life outside chores. I haven't made it to the library yet.
May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Worked from home today.
Went for a long walk at lunch.
Went swimming with my husband … not a lesson, just practice. I need the practice!! Still trying to coordinate breathing, arms and kicking. I can get 2 of them in sync but the third falls apart.
I swam a little over half an hour and covered about 300 metres with several stops because I ran out of puff.
If I want to attempt a very short triathlon, I'll need to double that amount and not stop so much.

I often wonder what it would be like to have an evening or weekend where I don't have to work on a long list of things.
I do get one very occasionally (a few times a year) and usually spend it reading and sleeping.
This evening, after working all day (and going for a walk and a swim), I ordered groceries, dealt with a few emails, packed things for work in the office tomorrow, and did a little tidying.
