Cheese fondue with crusty bread, apples, and veggies for dipping into it. Of course who would have cheese fondue without chocolate fondue for dessert, here the problems really begin, you dip strawberries, almond biscotti , and angle food cake in that. And a year's worth of healthy eating go down the drain. And what goes with all this, the magnum of champagne you get right before Christmas. :drinker:
But for a couple of hours you are as close to heaven as it gets.0 -
Not really a seasonal food because you can buy them all year long but those Danish butter cookies that come in a tin are my downfall at the holidays.0

Fall - Fresh and still hot apple cider doughnuts. I could eat them by the box. Seriously.
Winter - Eggnog. With or without alcohol.
Spring - Freshly shelled peas. I have picked 10 pounds of peas at a time and that will be gone in two days. They are my heroin.
Summer - Anything ripe in my gardens. I will eat my veggie whilst still in the garden on occasion. Don't judge.0 -

Pumpkin lovers try this, dry yellow cake mix (I use sugar free), 6oz canned pumpkin and 6oz of cinnamon applesauce. Mix those 3 ingredients and spread into muffin tins, loaf pans or by the spoonful onto cookie sheets and bake as directed on box. I usually bake might a little longer but they're a healthy and hearty treat and quite filling. They need no frosting but you could add some ff cream chess blended with cinnamon and walnuts for a decadent flare.
Pumpkin Protein Muffins
These are only 86 calories (may vary according to your protein powder), 8 carbs, 1 fat, and 11 protein! This makes 12 muffins.
Preheat oven to 375F
Combine:
-1 cup of oatmeal processed in a blender/food processor into flour. *1 cup BEFORE it is processed, it will be less afterwards*
- 5 scoops of vanilla protein powder. * I have done a mixture of chocolate and vanilla before and that was great too*
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp of cinnamon *This is an estimate. I just throw spices in until I like the taste. *
- 1 tsp of pumpkin pie spice * Again, an esitmate. Adjust to your liking.*
- Egg whites from 3 large eggs.
-1 cup of Libby's pure pumpkin
- 1/2 cup of no sugar added apple sauce
1/4 Cup slivered or sliced ( Toast on stove top) (optional)
1) Mix all dry ingredients together Well .2) mix all liquids together mix well. 3) pour liquid into dry and mix well with beaters.
4) Aluminum cupcake holders in muffin tins. Fill evenly til all 12 are full using all of the batter
Bake at 375F for 15-20 minutes depending on your oven. If you over bake they get a little dry

Surprisingly not all the fall/winter holiday goodies... I enjoy many of them, but usually I manage to keep it under control by enjoying them at friends' homes rather than having it in my home with unlimited access...
MY "seasonal" one is matzo ball soup, which is available year-round but at Passover time the stores seem to have end caps set up where I see it and want it and give in every time... Holy sodium Batman. But I love them.... Especially the ones from Jerry's Famous Deli the size of softballs...0 -

Cutie oranges for $5 a box! I love those things. I hardly eat oranges during the rest of the year because they are never on sale here! Other than that, apple cider and apple-cinnamon anything.

This. I am terribly in love with the taste of pumpkin. I'll even take a can of unflavored pumpkin, put pumpkin pie spices in it, mix with some cream or milk, and eat it (spread out over a few days, obviously lol, not all at once)- SO good!0 -

Pomegranates.
I don't care how much they cost. I load up and eat them every day - straight off the rind, make something with them, or just put the whole seeds in other foods like yogurt or ice cream. Plus they look pretty sitting on the kitchen counter.

I can and have devoured an entire pecan pie. It's my weakness. I love pecan pie so much... But I can't have it anymore... Pretty sure I won't be able to stop at just one
Me too! Way back in the day my mother made a pecan pie for the holidays and burned it and no one else would eat it so it was ALL MINE!! I had it for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack. Nom nom nom
Pumpkin is my big seasonal treat. I've already had a pumpkin bagel with walnut raisin cream cheese (Mister Bagel for any other Mainers) and several cups of Green Mountain Pumpkin Spice coffee.
For those of you who are also pumpkin fans, you can make yummy low fat (fat free?) muffins by combining a box of spice cake mix or even carrot cake mix with a can of pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling). Makes 24 muffins, about 100 cal each (depending on cake mix). Just bake for 20-25 min at 350. For chocolate lovers, use chocolate cake mix.
My friend makes those muffins then makes a dairy free "cream cheese" frosting and dips them in coconut - talk about heaven!
Also, mixing a can of pumpkin puree with a small tub of cool whip and a small box of instant sugar free/fat free pudding and you've got a yummy whipped treat!0 -
