Visited my in-laws yesterday. FIL is still in rehab and likely will remain there for at least another 6 weeks.
In the car for a total of 3 hours. Had a very light lunch and went out for dinner. Ordered a burrito plate; essentially, all the inside of a burrito without the tortilla. Also enjoyed two cocktails and still stayed within my IN target. I call that a successful day.
Walked the dog, but didn't exercise. I absolutely must exercise today. I just spent an hour or more picking up garbage in the park behind our house. It always looks so much better after I do that. I'm going to eat the first part of my breakfast, rest a little, then exercise.

Day 29—09/20 — 136.0 - I am okay with that. So that is my weight on my 65th birthday. Could be better, could be worse. What a difference at 65, hoping to poop before weighing, compared to my rockstar days. Lmao over here. I started a fire last night, the first time that I have had a woodstove/fireplace since early 1997!! Yes, I googled/youtube I specifically wanted to practice so that I could have a fire on my birthday if I wanted. I have been gathering wood since Wednesday. This morning….it was 1c, weather network said "feels like" -1c There are 2 little heaters here (3 season cottage) but I did start a small fire this morning to take the chill off. Today will be indulgent sort of. I have my mini champagnes, I have camembert, and I will be eating prawns for dinner : - ) Haven't had any breakfast yet, but ready to get out for a walk now that it I have had one coffee, 30 minutes of dancing (I will do more of that later, just needed to loosen up my body) and it is now 7c it was 27c here the first few days. Monday is to be raining (90% chance) and thunderstorms in the afternoon. I will make sure to bring lots of wood inside to stay dry. Totally hope that there isn't a power outage, shouldn't even put that out there lol
Day 30—09/21 — 137.2 - Although I had yummy stuff yesterday, my calories in were still only 1300 (Prawns have very little calories, and I measured the cheese and stuff. Sigh.
Tomorrow (starting tonight) will be raining 90% + risk of thunderstorms. I will make sure to have enough wood and stuff inside and dry, and bring anything in that I don't want to get wet. There will be no walking outdoors whatsoever, so I will definitely walk today, but it is only 3c right now, so maybe in a few hours.
I opened my cards and presents in the morning. I sipped my 6oz of champagne in many locations around the property in the afternoon. Here is a boatload of photos of that and my "lunch", and dinner. I had 2 rice cakes with nut butter for breakfast earlier in the day, and prawns for dinner around 7:30
Day 31—09/22 — 137.4 - 5am weigh in, so not sweating the .2 pound gain, I really felt lean today. Walking up and around and over rocks is so much funner than pounding the concrete! I kayaked yesterday and thought of you Lynn.
At 5:30am I was drinking a coffee, cueing up some workouts, it was pitch dark, but strangely warm in the cabin compared to this week. 10 minutes later the power went out! I lit a couple of candles and turned on the mobile data on my phone. First I checked the circuit breakers of course. Being so remote I was unsure if this area would get power back on. When I found the map of outages and clicked on the spot it looked like it would be back on here at 9am. It went far, right into the GTA. Of course I wanted another coffee, but no way to heat the water for my road coffee, instant. It came on around 7:30.
I was really looking forward to a rainy day, one that would have me relax inside, read and stuff, do a gazillion dance workout songs, listen to science shows.
I felt like yesterday was a turning point and today (after the power came back on), I felt like I was fully present with being here, and comfortable. I knew that it would take me awhile to wind right down, and it took Wednesday - Monday.
The rain was just intermittent, and not as the weather network had suggested. I did circles around the property many many times, went up and walked the road, all in between bursts of rain, during which I did dance workouts and read bits of the local paper.
Very good day even though it was surreal early in the morning without power in the darkness.
Day 32—09/23 — 137.4 - It is raining today, sounds so lovely. It is quite warm for a morning, 18c, hardly any wind. Forecast is for 30% chance of rain increasing to 40% chance of thunderstorms from noon until 11pm. Not lighting a fire this morning, but building it here and there. I have had my 2 coffees, about to have a rice cake and nut butter (I was sure glad that I had lots of that available during the power outage yesterday). No particular plans for today other than to read some of my book in the bunkie, some of it in the gazebo. I will definitely do lots of Fitness Marshall dances here and there : - ) Going to just try to relax and enjoy a free day.

Yesterday I did an hour of walking. I walked up the hill and back at dusk. I ate out with mom and sis, but did OK at the restaurant. I could feel the high sodium in my body after I left even though I had ordered lighter fare.
This week's challenge is to get the food and exercise columns completely into the green zone.

Day 29—09/20— 139 lb. Forgot to mention last Monday the plaster cast was removed from my arm/wrist. Now I have a light vinyl one, which I can remove when showering - Yay! now I can shower by myself. Have to do exercises every 2 hours, no problems with that so far.

Day 32—09/23— 138.9 lb plus a boxful of knitting patterns lighter. Many of them are vintage (inherited from grandma) and I've long been meaning to donate them to the School of Fashion Design, which has an excellent collection, and today I finally did it. They were esp excited with the WW2 ones from the Uk (she was a War Bride), as paper and colored ink was very closely rationed then, so few patterns printed.
Next - look to lose a boxful of yarn!!!

Thoughts at the start of this round:
This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We can’t control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Day 31—09/22—183.4 ✅ (Trend Weight: 184.7) So nice to see a drop. Progress! My tummy issues seem to be settling in now, much less pain. A couple of weeks ago I joined a local book club through our public library. I only had a couple of weeks to get through the book, but I managed and really enjoyed it. Tonight is the first meeting where I will meet the other members. I’m very nervous. Meeting new people and friends is something I’ve found to be a bit difficult as I’ve gotten older. Oh, the free-spirited days of being a trustworthy child and young adult who was not so self-conscious! Trying hard to stay engaged and putting myself out there in my retirement! I sure do miss my husband who is in Heaven now.
🐝🐝🐝🐝 Day 32—09/23—184.4 ❌ (Trend Weight: 184.7) I enjoyed the new book club immensely. We were assigned a new book for the upcoming month. It is much smaller so I also checked out another book by the same author as the one I just read. It was highly recommended. I think I can handle both books. I had a few too many snacks that were offered. All sweet. I don’t think I’ll ever get over my obsession to partake in “new” or “free” foods. It harkens back to my youth, growing up poor. At the age of 65 now, I just don’t see that it will ever feel right to pass on those foods. I guess I’ll just have to make some adjustments over the next couple of days that will smooth it all out. Just like I do when I eat at restaurants or travel. It does slow down the timetable on progress, but it doesn’t eliminate it. I’m just not panicking about it today and that feels very healthy.

Good Day, Friends!
@tinathescreamer , vintage knitting patterns....WOW! I am more of a crocheter than knitter, but I can imagine how delighted they were! I have worked on destashing… I never get rid of much. I am working on trying to use some of it up.
Day 22—09/20— 161.6 - Slept through breakfast so I had a grilled ham and cheese for lunch. Not sure about dinner yet. Want to get a bike ride in today.
Day 23—09/21— 161.4 - Did get a short bike ride in after it took me awhile to attach the new phone holder to the handlebar....and set the bike up, unfolding the parts. But I will be riding longer next time. I have to practice not only getting used to handling it, but becoming faster at the set up. It runs well, though. They were setting up for a wedding at the park, so I didn't hang around.
Had Siggi's for breakfast.....may have soup for dinner. Not sure what I will be in the mood for. But, ok....I will own it. I had a slice of Wegman's Ultimate White Cake. I haven't had that in over a year. It's a one and done. Which is why dinner will be conservative.
Day 24—09/22 - 161.2 - Had a cheese omlette for breakfast. Used up the last of my eggs....will have to contact my egg lady. Might have another salad for dinner, or might make macaroni....depends on my mood. I am feeling unsettled again....not pleasant.
Day 25—09/23 - 161 - I pushed myself to get up early, shower and get out the door. Got my bloodwork done and my nails, too....hair and nails are a big pickup for me. Made macaroni for lunch....will be a light dinner. More carb friendly. And I finally finished the first of 3 afghans I am crocheting for my grandkids....something to remember me by.

@Crochetluvr There are lots of vintage patterns for free on the web now, right back to the late 1800s! Just google "free vintage crochet patterns" and you will find whole websites with them!
@deepwoodslady Grandma never threw anything away. Nowadays I guess she'd be labelled a hoarder, but I think it was likely her childhood in the Depression and teen years in WW2 rationing that made her hang onto things - a lot of the older generation were like that when I was young. So I'm working not to leave a houseful of accumulated stuff behind, which my poor family will have to deal with.
Day 29—09/20— 139 lb. Forgot to mention last Monday the plaster cast was removed from my arm/wrist. Now I have a light vinyl one, which I can remove when showering - Yay! now I can shower by myself. Have to do exercises every 2 hours, no problems with that so far.

Many of them are vintage (inherited from grandma) and I've long been meaning to donate them to the School of Fashion Design, which has an excellent collection, and today I finally did it. They were esp excited with the WW2 ones from the Uk (she was a War Bride), as paper and colored ink was very closely rationed then, so few patterns printed.
Next - look to lose a boxful of yarn!!!

Day 29—09/20 — 136.0 - I am okay with that. So that is my weight on my 65th birthday. Could be better, could be worse. What a difference at 65, hoping to poop before weighing, compared to my rockstar days. Lmao over here. I started a fire last night, the first time that I have had a woodstove/fireplace since early 1997!! Yes, I googled/youtube I specifically wanted to practice so that I could have a fire on my birthday if I wanted. I have been gathering wood since Wednesday. This morning….it was 1c, weather network said "feels like" -1c There are 2 little heaters here (3 season cottage) but I did start a small fire this morning to take the chill off. Today will be indulgent sort of. I have my mini champagnes, I have camembert, and I will be eating prawns for dinner : - ) Haven't had any breakfast yet, but ready to get out for a walk now that it I have had one coffee, 30 minutes of dancing (I will do more of that later, just needed to loosen up my body) and it is now 7c it was 27c here the first few days. Monday is to be raining (90% chance) and thunderstorms in the afternoon. I will make sure to bring lots of wood inside to stay dry. Totally hope that there isn't a power outage, shouldn't even put that out there lol
Day 30—09/21 — 137.2 - Although I had yummy stuff yesterday, my calories in were still only 1300 (Prawns have very little calories, and I measured the cheese and stuff. Sigh.
Tomorrow (starting tonight) will be raining 90% + risk of thunderstorms. I will make sure to have enough wood and stuff inside and dry, and bring anything in that I don't want to get wet. There will be no walking outdoors whatsoever, so I will definitely walk today, but it is only 3c right now, so maybe in a few hours.
I opened my cards and presents in the morning. I sipped my 6oz of champagne in many locations around the property in the afternoon. Here is a boatload of photos of that and my "lunch", and dinner. I had 2 rice cakes with nut butter for breakfast earlier in the day, and prawns for dinner around 7:30
Day 31—09/22 — 137.4 - 5am weigh in, so not sweating the .2 pound gain, I really felt lean today. Walking up and around and over rocks is so much funner than pounding the concrete! I kayaked yesterday and thought of you Lynn.
At 5:30am I was drinking a coffee, cueing up some workouts, it was pitch dark, but strangely warm in the cabin compared to this week. 10 minutes later the power went out! I lit a couple of candles and turned on the mobile data on my phone. First I checked the circuit breakers of course. Being so remote I was unsure if this area would get power back on. When I found the map of outages and clicked on the spot it looked like it would be back on here at 9am. It went far, right into the GTA. Of course I wanted another coffee, but no way to heat the water for my road coffee, instant. It came on around 7:30.
I was really looking forward to a rainy day, one that would have me relax inside, read and stuff, do a gazillion dance workout songs, listen to science shows.
I felt like yesterday was a turning point and today (after the power came back on), I felt like I was fully present with being here, and comfortable. I knew that it would take me awhile to wind right down, and it took Wednesday - Monday.
The rain was just intermittent, and not as the weather network had suggested. I did circles around the property many many times, went up and walked the road, all in between bursts of rain, during which I did dance workouts and read bits of the local paper.
Very good day even though it was surreal early in the morning without power in the darkness.
Day 32—09/23 — 137.4 - It is raining today, sounds so lovely. It is quite warm for a morning, 18c, hardly any wind. Forecast is for 30% chance of rain increasing to 40% chance of thunderstorms from noon until 11pm. Not lighting a fire this morning, but building it here and there. I have had my 2 coffees, about to have a rice cake and nut butter (I was sure glad that I had lots of that available during the power outage yesterday). No particular plans for today other than to read some of my book in the bunkie, some of it in the gazebo. I will definitely do lots of Fitness Marshall dances here and there : - ) Going to just try to relax and enjoy a free day.
Day 33—09/24 — 137.8 - Small rise in weight. I can see that my weight was pretty much the same since the day of my birthday, the 20th. Since then I have eaten exactly the same thing every day. My calories have been good, and my output has been good, always a nice deficit at the end of each day. The one wrinkle is that I have been having 1/4oz of Camembert and 1/2oz of Montpelier cheese each day. Normally I don't eat cheese. I still have the same amount left for today. I am down to 4 cashews and 1/2oz of Grand Marnier. I had my last 6oz bottle of champagne yesterday with my cheese portions. Tomorrow I am travelling to a motel close to Toronto Pearson airport. This morning I am taking my garbage to the dump, which is only open today from 8am-2pm. I wanted to take it earlier because of the prawn tails in there, but there wasn't anywhere to take it. It is just becoming light now. I lit a nice fire this morning and am about to have my second cup of coffee. Friday night I will be home. I am definitely going to be having my once per 3 months Ribs on Friday or Saturday. I was melancholy wandering around here yesterday, knowing that I am leaving just as I was really settling in. I will be happy to be home though, and happy to be at the motel near Toronto tomorrow night so that I can finally have a bath, only a small stand up shower without lights here. Below has been my typical calories in/out, except for I only did 50 minutes of Fitness Marshall songs throughout the day yesterday (during bouts of rain) but the day before I did 69 minutes so the chart looked a little different. Input, like I mentioned has been the same, since I have what I brought here to the cabin from the city, no more, no less. In and around that 1200 calories which is my norm even though I have gained almost 2 pounds since my birthday.

Things are starting to get back to pre-camping. @deepwoodslady Happy birthday to you. Thank you for posting about your book club. I'm glad you are enjoying it. Your post reminded me that my local public library hosts one on Saturdays. They call it a silent book club where you can read whatever book you want and you're free to either discuss it or just read silently during the meeting. I had forgotten about this until you brought it up. There's also a ukulele jam session group that meets right before that, and that sounds like fun too. The library is about five blocks from my house, so it sounds like a fun and nerdy afternoon to me.

It was stupid-hot yesterday. I walked a little during my breaks. I did not want to work out after work as we don't have AC, but I ended up doing a 10-minute HIIT cardio session, a 10-minute core session, and a 10-minute total body strength workout. I wanted this dashboard to turn green.

My parents were the same. They saved string. I'm very grateful that they downsized before they died. I'm even more grateful that my sister took the lead on going through they things afterward.
Unfortunately for me though, my husband is of the "it could be useful one day" mindset. Let's say our house is full of 'treasures'. I do my best to keep our bedroom and the main floor of the house tidy(ish), but the garage and basement cupboards are full with I don't know what but he does.

Difficult, but not impossible. I find the MFP food library very useful. One tip I picked up when searching for a food item and a big list of similar items is presented, select the one with the highest or second highest calories vs the one with the lowest. I'd rather over record calories than under record calories. Also, check out this 'hand portion' guide from Precision Nutrition.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We can’t control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. I had a few too many snacks that were offered. All sweet. I don’t think I’ll ever get over my obsession to partake in “new” or “free” foods. It harkens back to my youth, growing up poor. At the age of 65 now, I just don’t see that it will ever feel right to pass on those foods. I guess I’ll just have to make some adjustments over the next couple of days that will smooth it all out. Just like I do when I eat at restaurants or travel. It does slow down the timetable on progress, but it doesn’t eliminate it. I’m just not panicking about it today and that feels very healthy.

Dawn, what an amazing way to celebrate a milestone BD. I've fallen behind on reading posts so missed why the cabin in Ont. It truly sounds heavenly tho. After watching hubby dealing with intense nerve root pain for the past month, as selfish as this sounds, I long for remote cabin with no cell service etc. Glad you got out kayaking … actually it's only 11C here today but the sun is shining. Seriously considered loading up my boat but the yard is a mess. DH (dear hubby) usually takes care of that but not this year. Had hoped DS (dear son) was coming up to help but his DGF (dear girl friend) was more appealing. ;)

@age_is_just_a_number Agreed on the "take the higher calorie value" - the values given for, say, a bowlful of homemade mac and cheese (which I had at a friend's for lunch today - didn't want to put her thru the Inquisition over how much cheese in the sauce, etc!!!) can vary wildly.
Day 29—09/20— 139 lb. Forgot to mention last Monday the plaster cast was removed from my arm/wrist. Now I have a light vinyl one, which I can remove when showering - Yay! now I can shower by myself. Have to do exercises every 2 hours, no problems with that so far.

Many of them are vintage (inherited from grandma) and I've long been meaning to donate them to the School of Fashion Design, which has an excellent collection, and today I finally did it. They were esp excited with the WW2 ones from the Uk (she was a War Bride), as paper and colored ink was very closely rationed then, so few patterns printed.
Next - look to lose a boxful of yarn!!!

Day 29—09/20 — 136.0 - I am okay with that. So that is my weight on my 65th birthday. Could be better, could be worse. What a difference at 65, hoping to poop before weighing, compared to my rockstar days. Lmao over here. I started a fire last night, the first time that I have had a woodstove/fireplace since early 1997!! Yes, I googled/youtube I specifically wanted to practice so that I could have a fire on my birthday if I wanted. I have been gathering wood since Wednesday. This morning….it was 1c, weather network said "feels like" -1c There are 2 little heaters here (3 season cottage) but I did start a small fire this morning to take the chill off. Today will be indulgent sort of. I have my mini champagnes, I have camembert, and I will be eating prawns for dinner : - ) Haven't had any breakfast yet, but ready to get out for a walk now that it I have had one coffee, 30 minutes of dancing (I will do more of that later, just needed to loosen up my body) and it is now 7c it was 27c here the first few days. Monday is to be raining (90% chance) and thunderstorms in the afternoon. I will make sure to bring lots of wood inside to stay dry. Totally hope that there isn't a power outage, shouldn't even put that out there lol
Day 30—09/21 — 137.2 - Although I had yummy stuff yesterday, my calories in were still only 1300 (Prawns have very little calories, and I measured the cheese and stuff. Sigh.
Tomorrow (starting tonight) will be raining 90% + risk of thunderstorms. I will make sure to have enough wood and stuff inside and dry, and bring anything in that I don't want to get wet. There will be no walking outdoors whatsoever, so I will definitely walk today, but it is only 3c right now, so maybe in a few hours.
I opened my cards and presents in the morning. I sipped my 6oz of champagne in many locations around the property in the afternoon. Here is a boatload of photos of that and my "lunch", and dinner. I had 2 rice cakes with nut butter for breakfast earlier in the day, and prawns for dinner around 7:30
Day 31—09/22 — 137.4 - 5am weigh in, so not sweating the .2 pound gain, I really felt lean today. Walking up and around and over rocks is so much funner than pounding the concrete! I kayaked yesterday and thought of you Lynn.
At 5:30am I was drinking a coffee, cueing up some workouts, it was pitch dark, but strangely warm in the cabin compared to this week. 10 minutes later the power went out! I lit a couple of candles and turned on the mobile data on my phone. First I checked the circuit breakers of course. Being so remote I was unsure if this area would get power back on. When I found the map of outages and clicked on the spot it looked like it would be back on here at 9am. It went far, right into the GTA. Of course I wanted another coffee, but no way to heat the water for my road coffee, instant. It came on around 7:30.
I was really looking forward to a rainy day, one that would have me relax inside, read and stuff, do a gazillion dance workout songs, listen to science shows.
I felt like yesterday was a turning point and today (after the power came back on), I felt like I was fully present with being here, and comfortable. I knew that it would take me awhile to wind right down, and it took Wednesday - Monday.
The rain was just intermittent, and not as the weather network had suggested. I did circles around the property many many times, went up and walked the road, all in between bursts of rain, during which I did dance workouts and read bits of the local paper.
Very good day even though it was surreal early in the morning without power in the darkness.
Day 32—09/23 — 137.4 - It is raining today, sounds so lovely. It is quite warm for a morning, 18c, hardly any wind. Forecast is for 30% chance of rain increasing to 40% chance of thunderstorms from noon until 11pm. Not lighting a fire this morning, but building it here and there. I have had my 2 coffees, about to have a rice cake and nut butter (I was sure glad that I had lots of that available during the power outage yesterday). No particular plans for today other than to read some of my book in the bunkie, some of it in the gazebo. I will definitely do lots of Fitness Marshall dances here and there : - ) Going to just try to relax and enjoy a free day.
Day 33—09/24 — 137.8 - Small rise in weight. I can see that my weight was pretty much the same since the day of my birthday, the 20th. Since then I have eaten exactly the same thing every day. My calories have been good, and my output has been good, always a nice deficit at the end of each day. The one wrinkle is that I have been having 1/4oz of Camembert and 1/2oz of Montpelier cheese each day. Normally I don't eat cheese. I still have the same amount left for today. I am down to 4 cashews and 1/2oz of Grand Marnier. I had my last 6oz bottle of champagne yesterday with my cheese portions. Tomorrow I am travelling to a motel close to Toronto Pearson airport. This morning I am taking my garbage to the dump, which is only open today from 8am-2pm. I wanted to take it earlier because of the prawn tails in there, but there wasn't anywhere to take it. It is just becoming light now. I lit a nice fire this morning and am about to have my second cup of coffee. Friday night I will be home. I am definitely going to be having my once per 3 months Ribs on Friday or Saturday. I was melancholy wandering around here yesterday, knowing that I am leaving just as I was really settling in. I will be happy to be home though, and happy to be at the motel near Toronto tomorrow night so that I can finally have a bath, only a small stand up shower without lights here. Below has been my typical calories in/out, except for I only did 50 minutes of Fitness Marshall songs throughout the day yesterday (during bouts of rain) but the day before I did 69 minutes so the chart looked a little different. Input, like I mentioned has been the same, since I have what I brought here to the cabin from the city, no more, no less. In and around that 1200 calories which is my norm even though I have gained almost 2 pounds since my birthday.
Day 34—09/25 — 137.0 - I was up way too early, first woke at 4am and then got up at 5am. Almost a pound drop on the scale though. I got to see it become light out one last time. Overcast, so it was gradual. Supposed to be raining all day today, but not yet. No cheese eating yesterday. I have 1/4oz of Camembert left, and 1/2oz of Montpelier. I have about 2/3 of a cup left in the egg whites carton, I will have that before I leave today and put cheese in it, no toast left lol I had my 1/2oz of Grand Marnier that was left yesterday sipped slowly in the Gazebo, so close to the water and a bit of a breeze so that I could clearly hear the water lapping. I don't plan on leaving until around noon, so will putter packing things, some for the motel tonight, I will assemble snacks for the plane and for the layover tomorrow - while I still have knives and stuff here. I will walk the property many times, and get some good workouts in because I will be driving all day. Sad to leave here, but eager to have a nice bath in the motel tonight. I will probably cry as I visit all of my special (to me) spots along the property and take my last photos. I will remember my 65th birthday trip very fondly, and forever.

I'm was a bit under the weather yesterday. I did some light walks yesterday and did a slow yoga session in the evening. I'm a bit better today, but I'll keep doing light walks and yoga today based on the numbers I'm seeing in my watch. My fitness numbers started getting weird a few days before I realized that I was not just tired, that it was a bug. I'm a bit better today. This is a very mild cold.
