I am loving all the charts and graphs from so many of you. Unfortunately, I'm not quite THAT computer savvy. All I have is what the trendweight website tracks for me. But I love reading everyone's imput.

@age_is_just_a_number Thank you for the suggestion of ending a day early. I decided to go ahead and do that on all my challenges. My monthly challenges show that From Nov 1st to Nov 29th I lost 6.0 lbs so that was double my goals and I am more than happy to end November with those numbers. Looking over my yearly trendweight graph, I see that I don't normally do well in the fall or winter. And those are long seasons in northern Michigan. My good month's were June, July and Aug. That's about it. So it is difficult to make up weight in 3 months what I've stalled or put on in 9 months. That's the real value I've gotten out of my yearly graph which I'll probably post at the end of Dec to show the whole year. I was very much in need of this good November. I need some good weeks and months in the winter too! Knowledge is power so I will have to work on that for sure!

Thoughts at the start of this round:
This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We can’t control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Thanks for sharing your journey with me and allowing me to share mine. I am grateful for you all.

Day 99—11/29-- 178.0 ✅ (Trend Weight: 179.8) It’s Thanksgiving dinner at my house today for all the kids and grandkids. I’m looking forward to us all being together. November has been better for me than Sept & Oct when I kind of fizzled out. I had a good summer though. Today I have achieved more than double of my weekly goal. But I am shy of my overall 10 lb challenge goal, but close. I think taking it in bits, part & parcel has helped me psychologically and emotionally and seems to basically be working. I will keep going in the next challenge with my experimental goals.

🦃🦃🦃🦃 Day 100—11/30…..(Final Weigh- In)- DNW. Our Thanksgiving dinner was yesterday. The day after my Thanksgiving feast is not a good day to end a 100 day challenge as it would not be an accurate weight or reflection of progress. Especially with the way I bloat. So, even though I am 2.4 lbs away from the 10 pound goal for the whole challenge I set way back on day 1, I am ending a day early on Day 99. I think I could have got a bit closer if not for Thanksgiving yesterday. I have lost a total of 16.2 lbs in rounds #23 & #24. I lost 7.6 lbs in this Challenge #24. I am very happy with that. Everyone did a great job this round sticking with it. I’m so proud of everyone for hanging in and making the efforts.
Thanksgiving dinner was delicious and I pushed as many leftovers on the kids to take home as I possibly could. There is still more left. They even took many desserts with them but I'm still left with chocolate cream pie, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake, homemade pumpkin roll, and pecan pie. They took the rest of the eclair cake, lemon squares and cookies. Sweets are my biggest temptation and I'm sorry, but I just can't toss that much food. I will have to navigate this very carefully. Yesterday I skipped breakfast & lunchtime meals and waited for the FEAST at 5:00 pm. My dessert didn't come until midnight because I was too full even though I only put a couple of tablespoons of each thing I like on my plate. Overall, I think I did okay. I know there is some bloat and some gain because the foods were different and that always gets me. I kept the dessert last night smaller than normal.
We got bombarded with another 8 in. of snow overnight so back outside I go to shovel. There is an intricate highway of roads and paths I must make for the squirrels and ground-feeding birds in the backyard so they can navigate their feeding spots and so I can get out there to them. My son can work on the sidewalks. Even being on a hill with steps all the way down to the road, his is the easy part. I WILL NOT use this extra calorie burn from all the shoveling as an excuse to overeat today. I must keep my attitude and perspective good! See you tomorrow when we all have fresh starts and renewed opportunities!

I don't know that much about it. There are plenty of lovely little cottages on the Filbert Steps, but this one caught my attention because it had/(has?) a sign "The Brown House" posted right below the house number (228). Here's a photo I took in March 2022, and if you zoom in, you can see the sign to the left of the front door.
I don't believe I am related in any way to Phillip Brown. My dad's family moved to the Central Valley from Nebraska about 100 years ago. Depending on what you read, "the Brown House" was built in 1869, 1882 or 1895 (Zillow).

This Gothic Revival house is the top contender for the most outstanding contributor to the District. Built in 1869 by Phillip Brown, a seaman turned stevedore, this house is an expression of a simple “Carpenter Gothic” style. Although the form of the house suggests there was a store in the basement, David Myrick explains in his book San Francisco’s Telegraph Hill that because Phillip Brown decreed that his wife was not to be a shopkeeper, the basement was used, instead, as the family dining room. (Myrick, page 187) It is sometimes incorrectly referred to as the “Captain’s House” because Captain Laughton was a frequent visitor who spent so much time on the front porch that people assumed it was his home.There are photos on Zillow of the house's interior, deck and view. I don't see the "Brown House" sign in Zillow's photo. Although it's not for sale, Zillow estimates it's market value as $1.685 million. If only I had that kind of pocket change. lol

2025 - year to date loss 15.2lbsOverall - a loss is better than a gain.
Congratulations to everyone for sticking with this challenge. I have found these challenges to be a game changer for me. I am so grateful to all of you for your insights, encouragement and discussions.

Your stats for 24 are incredible! The perfect place to be: lost nearly 10lbs of fat and GAINED nearly 5lbs of MUSCLE. That is the holy grail of body re-composition! Way to go!
@frankwbrown A loss is better than a gain! And we are both making progress with our mini-challenge. I said to my in-laws yesterday 'nothing like a little 1:1 competition to light a fire under my rear end!'. We've got this! 1 month remaining in our mini-challenge and Challenge 25 here we come!
I've debated for years about getting a DEXA scan. Please tell me if you believe they are worth it and how useful you find the data it gives you.
@deepwoodslady Congratulations on doubling your goal for November and losing 7.6lbs for the entire challenge (on average that is 0.5lbs/week, which is my target loss)!! That's awesome. You've been really consistent this round.
Re the winter vs summer months —> Winter isn't quite as long here in Toronto as it is in northern Michigan, but we do get our fair share of winter. My husband is like you (gain in winter, lose in summer). Strangely, I'm the other way around (lose in winter, gain in summer). You are absolutely right "Knowledge is power so I will have to work on that for sure!". We do not need to let the past repeat itself. I look at my data almost daily to assess whether recent changes are having an impact and if not, what to change.
So glad you enjoyed your Thanksgiving dinner. I don't know if it is an option for you, but sometimes soup kitchens or churches will accept food donations.4 -
Day 92—11/22: DNW – went to a craft fair & then shopping for patio furniture for our new sunroom – stopped by a brewery and had a greek salad with wood-grilled chicken – very filling and yum!
Day 93—11/23: DNW – did a nature walk with DH, food prep & made tacos using meatless crumbles that were some fun & healthy football food. A good day!
Day 94—11/24: 2017.8 – this is kind of unheard of for me – a loss on a Monday? But I guess I made enough good choices along with the bad this weekend! Or it’s a fluke, I guess I’ll find out tomorrow. Had a great weekend and looking forward to a short work-week, I definitely need a break.
Day 95—11/25: 208.6 – ok, so possibly a fluke yesterday! Unless TODAY is the fluke, ha ha! The scale can be devious…
Day 96—11/26—206.2 – who can make heads or tails of the scale? I’m just happy it’s heading in the right direction. Last day of work this week! Yesterday was at least a more productive day so I don't feel quite as stressed as I have the last week, and I am READY for a break!! DH and I will use the time to decorate for Christmas, which is kind of fun since it's a new house and we don't really have a "routine" here yet. I ordered some mini lighted Christmas trees for the walkway & front garden and a couple of lighted "urn fillers" for the windowbox, with some solar sort of random lighted "firework" lights that hopefully will fill everything out. DH is contemplating where to hang outside lights which cracks me up, since he does nothing but complain year after year about hanging lights outside!! I told him to skip it, the yard will still look nice but I think he feels competition with the other homes lol. We don't know quite where to put the tree in the house since there's not exactly any extra room in the LR, but I'm sure we'll come up with something. I haven't been able to work out properly for a week because of the incision where they removed the BCC from my chest, but I've at least been walking with DH in the morning and staying OP. I am about 6 pounds away from "Onederland" and I am hoping to give that to myself as a Christmas present! Or at least I'll be close...and once I get there I am determined never to leave again. You'd think I wouldn't have to learn that lesson more than once but I'm fighting hard for this one, so I think it's sunk in!!! It's kind of a relief to not have any plans or have to do any cooking, I really need to unplug my brain and just CHILL.
