I am Dawn. I turned 65 this round. I have changed my eating habits over time. I basically eat half of the amount that I used to, and have limited eating Ribs to once every 3 months instead of once per week. I eat everything, just less of it and/or less often. I topped out at 207, at 5'2" that is not healthy at all! I joined MFP at 198lbs. Ultimate health goal for my arthritic feet is 110-118.

Day 85—11/15 — 137.2 - Getting 2 days off per week officially came into play yesterday. I'm not sure if it will begin this coming week or later on. It will be an adjustment for me after years of 6 or 7 days per week. I will hit my stride after getting used to it.
Day 86—11/16 — 137.4 - I have been re-arranging my downstairs bathroom for the last couple of days, because the plumber comes tomorrow to service my pump down there and everything was in front of it. I had to take apart the over the toilet shelving unit which was a bit hilarious. This morning before work I will clean everything down there, which is my primary bathroom. I actually never use the one on the main floor. No final answer yet as to whether my schedule will change starting tomorrow or not. I really need the 2 days off in a row to get the rest of my garden harvested, turned over, mulched/composted, and covered until April.
Day 87—11/17 — 137.8 - Day off tomorrow, so tonight might be a bit indulgent, probably the 6 frozen cooked chicken wings left out of the box of 12. I almost skipped dinner last night, but I had made it, so ate it. Jump up on the scale, it was 400 calories that I didn't need I guess. Watched the Grey Cup from work, and then when I got home (I live close to work, so left during a commercial). Starting next week I am going to get 2 days off per week instead of 1!! Yay! I have one garden bed left to do, I will get a start on it after work today and then spend all day tomorrow on it. Awaiting the plumber this morning. Argh to having to take apart the over toilet cabinet, moving everything, and cleaning. I will slowly put it back together over the course of this week.
Day 88—11/18 — 137.4 - My neighbour had a pack of frozen chicken cordon bleu that she inadvertently had thawed. She offered me 2, because as we know you can't refreeze thawed chicken. I cooked them both in the toaster over….and ate both!!! I had a half cup of basmati underneath. Delicious. Way over my usual calorie intake, but I still ended up with a deficit for the day and lost .4 of a pound. Maybe it will catch up with me in days to come. We are in a water advisory for 2 days, so I have many things filled with water. Raining on my one day off today, as I knew that it would be, so I went hard in the garden past dark.
I had planned to process beets and carrots all day today, but with the water advisory I think that I will have to wait, and save all of my buckets of water for flushing and stuff.
If the rain stops I will get out for a walk. Not wasting water on cleaning today lol. I had a fantastic bath last night after the garden in preparation for not having water for 2 days. Today will be lots of Fitness Marshall, and I don't know what else I will get up to today. All of the things that I normally do include water.
Day 89—11/19 — 136.8 - Water advisory was not lifted, not getting my Wednesdays off this week and next : - ( I could have taken a job at Joseph creek (LTC + Independent living) but I am feeling sorry for myself so I am going to go to my first public skating of the season after work today instead of taking a job/working : - )
Day 90—11/20 — 137.2 - Water advisory still in effect, I had 3 days of dishes, and just washed them anyway. I suppose that I will dip them in a bleach solution later, I was out of counter space. I am itching to get my beets and carrots processed, but I will have to wait. Skating was so great, 40 minutes although I planned only 15-20 for my first skate of the season.
Day 91—11/21 — 138.6 - Double ouch. Nothing different yesterday, so pretty dismayed by this number. I feel like I should get back on the yoghurt/granola thing? I peeled one bowl of carrots last night, cut and cooked them this morning. They are cooling now and I will put them in the freezer before work, or at least the fridge. I will make stuff with them another time: carrot burgers, carrot fritters, baked chana flour coated wedges, carrot pakora, and just plain to smother with gravy on a turkey dinner at Christmas.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We can’t control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Thanks for sharing your journey with me and allowing me to share mine. I am grateful for you all.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

Day 90—11/20—179.6 ❌ (Trend Weight: 181.5) I had a glucose drop last night and probably ate too many smarties to bring it back up. Otherwise my day and exercise were good. It seems like a lot of gain just for packs of smarties, but then again there is the technical thing that goes on with the glucose too. Today will be another good day. I’m not giving up my 170’s, not by a long shot! I will increase my carbs slightly and see if that helps the glucose. A friend is coming to put a new battery in the dead pick-up truck today so I can get air in the tire. It’s been sitting too long I guess. I hardly use it. I’ve never had it fixed on the spot, just at the local garage. However, it’s dead where it sits. So hopefully the repair/replacement will be okay.
🦃🦃🦃🦃 Day 91—11/21— DNW ↔️ (Trend Weight: DNW) No weigh Friday but it was a good day yesterday. Ended up with OMAD because the meal would be more calorie/carb heavy. That kept it at goal. 30 minutes of planned exercise. Horrible sleep last night due to no blood getting to my feet and toes (again). This happens several days per week. I am thankful and grateful that the past couple of nights have been good but last night was truly a nightmare. I need the opposite of elevating them and it seems there is nothing that can be done unless I just stand upright in the middle of the room and try to sleep!

@Crochetluvr Sugar cookies! I have to admit, other than the fun shapes, they are not my favourite kind of cookie. I have a recipe for a white bean cookie that I've been thinking about making. They are packed with fiber, protein, chocolate chips and raisins.
My all time favourite cookie is any kind of ginger & molasses cookie.
@dawnbgethealthy RE wearing out joints. When my FIL was first in the hospital in July, the physicians assistant did an update while we were there and he said "the parts of out of warranty".🤣My FIL is 91.

I am Dawn. I turned 65 this round. I have changed my eating habits over time. I basically eat half of the amount that I used to, and have limited eating Ribs to once every 3 months instead of once per week. I eat everything, just less of it and/or less often. Yesterday I walked on my breaks and after my evening dance workout. I will get my cooking done this weekend because it made a HUGE difference last week. Thoughts at the start of this round:
This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We can’t control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Day 91—11/21— DNW ↔️ (Trend Weight: 1801.0) No weigh Friday but it was a good day yesterday. Ended up with OMAD because the meal would be more calorie/carb heavy. That kept it at goal. 30 minutes of planned exercise. Horrible sleep last night due to no blood getting to my feet and toes (again). This happens several days per week. I am thankful and grateful that the past couple of nights have been good but last night was truly a nightmare. I need the opposite of elevating them and it seems there is nothing that can be done unless I just stand upright in the middle of the room and try to sleep!
🦃🦃🦃🦃 Day 92—11/22—179.6 ↔️ (Trend Weight:180.8 ) Well, I was hoping for a better drop since my last weigh-in two days ago but apparently not. I was not feeling very well yesterday. Couldn’t put my finger on it but I felt too weak to even exercise. I was proud of my son though. He exercised without me and he has never done that before! I really couldn’t eat until pretty late last night when the glucose began dropping and I had to, quite quickly. Although I pre-logged, it was too elaborate of a dinner for how I felt and how quickly I needed it. I ended up with a can of soup and too many Ritz crackers. It seems like I gained last time I ate soup too. Anyhow, my calories for the day were 936, my carbs over goal but still under what a “normal person” eats. I don’t always understand the numbers but I’m moving on and hoping for more cooperation from my body today. I will try to get my exercise in since I’m feeling somewhat better but not quite 100% yet.

Day 92—11/22— 160 - I have been working around the apartment in preparation for switching out holiday decorations. Next weekend I will be bringing out Christmas and putting away Fall things. And I have to try and pare down....I have a lot of decorations and running out of room. But many of them have sentimental memories attached so its not easy. The moving around, carrying and such is my exercise for the day.
I had scrambled eggs and a cup of milk for breakfast. Dinner is leftover Chinese.

I didn't post yesterday. We visited our youngest son. Ended the day with a surplus.
Today I'm meeting a friend at the ROM. If all goes well, we’ll have lunch, then go to the AGO, then back to my place for dinner. My husband has been planning dinner for a few days. He is making pork tenderloin with a mushroom-shallot sauce, Lima beans, beets, squash and an apple tart.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We can’t control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Day 92—11/22—179.6 ↔️ (Trend Weight:180.8 ) Well, I was hoping for a better drop since my last weigh-in two days ago but apparently not. I was not feeling very well yesterday. Couldn’t put my finger on it but I felt too weak to even exercise. I was proud of my son though. He exercised without me and he has never done that before! I really couldn’t eat until pretty late last night when the glucose began dropping and I had to, quite quickly. Although I pre-logged, it was too elaborate of a dinner for how I felt and how quickly I needed it. I ended up with a can of soup and too many Ritz crackers. It seems like I gained last time I ate soup too. Anyhow, my calories for the day were 936, my carbs over goal but still under what a “normal person” eats. I don’t always understand the numbers but I’m moving on and hoping for more cooperation from my body today. I will try to get my exercise in since I’m feeling somewhat better but not quite 100% yet.

🦃🦃🦃🦃 Day 93—11/23— 178.2 ✅ (Trend Weight – 180.6) Two observations looking backward and looking forward:
LOOKING BACKWARD: I see that most of the weeks I have met my weekly goal and even achieved extra weight loss to help make up for the “bad” weeks. However, it is clear that just those couple of bad weeks, or actually bad days, have created situations that take weeks and weeks to completely fix. I continue to rarely eat at restaurants in my own town and keep mainly approved foods in my own kitchen but travel continues to be necessary for me and will not stop. It is clear that I MUST be more careful in my choosing when away from home. I don’t think it’s portion control so much as I’ve (pretty much) mastered asking for the box and taking some home (which ends up being my dinner later). It’s more a case of my choices. Something I must continue to work on.

LOOKING FORWARD: Thanksgiving is this week in the US and I will be attending two of them, one on the traditional day and then our very large and food-filled family one in my home on the 29th when all my family can attend. With the challenge ending the next morning, I am not going to weigh in for challenge end until probably 48 hours later. I just don’t want to skew my start numbers for the next challenge by starting at a false high and then dropping dramatically. I really want to continue to follow my experiment and plan for weight loss goals and I need the numbers more accurate than the day after a Thanksgiving Feast in order to maintain accurate data! I will come back to post the realistic numbers and then also post those to Challenge #25 as a start weight. The other option would be for me to end a day early. We’ll see how I feel when I have more time to think about it and decide which makes more sense.
I have to travel (maybe even tomorrow) for Thanksgiving shopping. That usually results in a gain, not just from the restaurant but from the long-distance sitting to and from. We also have my DGS’ 8th birthday this weekend (probably on Sunday). It’s such a tough time of year to accomplish any of my personal goals in light of all this. Ugh! I just realized that my long-running goal from the start of the challenge would expect me to lose 4 lbs this week. While that’s very difficult in itself, I know I cannot accomplish this with 4 special days of food within the same week! As usual, I’ll do what I can, when I can. In any case, I am proud of all of us for showing up each and every day for the past 100 days and working toward our healthier selves. Let’s finish #24 as strong as we can and enter #25 with a head start on the Christmas holidays!

Good Evening, All!
This week as we head into a day of feasting, I am reminded of a saying that I heard when I was a member of Jenny Craig (remember that company?) We were told that a holiday celebration was "a people event with food present"......that we needed to concentrate on the social aspect of the day. However, we members used to say such events were "a food event with people present"....which really was more accurate.…lol! If a person wants to nibble on the veggie plate and drink water, more power to them. I am not that person. I have Thanksgiving, a holiday party the week before Christmas, Christmas Eve dinner, Christmas Day dinner and New Year's day dinner. Not to mention all the snacks....cookies, candy, pies....that will be around the whole season. I only have so much will power. And I am sure most everyone else feels the same way. 🙂
@deepwoodslady , it's going to be a usual holiday for most of us. I can only hope I can hold things even. I think I can....I don't expect to lose. We'll both do fine. 🙂
Day 92—11/22— 160 - I have been working around the apartment in preparation for switching out holiday decorations. Next weekend I will be bringing out Christmas and putting away Fall things. And I have to try and pare down....I have a lot of decorations and running out of room. But many of them have sentimental memories attached so its not easy. The moving around, carrying and such is my exercise for the day.
I had scrambled eggs and a cup of milk for breakfast. Dinner is leftover Chinese.

Day 92—11/22: DNW – went to a craft fair & then shopping for patio furniture for our new sunroom – stopped by a brewery and had a greek salad with wood-grilled chicken – very filling and yum!
Day 93—11/23: DNW – did a nature walk with DH, food prep & made tacos using meatless crumbles that were some fun & healthy football food. A good day!

Day 93—11/23 — 138.0 - Up early for my Sunday treat of Classical Music hour on the radio. Split yesterday, today, and tomorrow, my new schedule at my primary job. Transition week coming up, and from then on I will be getting 2 days off in a row!!
Day 94—11/24 — 136.6 - That is a welcome number. I worked 9 hours yesterday instead of my usual 6 or 7, so extra waitressing steps. Also the first 3 hours were absolutely dead, so I got 64 minutes of Fitness Marshall songs in, which I can only do if there are no customers. Those of you in the States, Thanksgiving is pretty close to Christmas. I feel like Thanksgiving is a super healthy dinner full of nutrients and also filling. Albeit, a slice of pecan pie is probably 500 calories, so I can see how the sweets could add up if over-eaten. I do like what @crochetluvr mentioned about it being a holiday to enjoy people : - ) As holidays go, I think that there are worse ones for food consumption, like Superbowl or the Grey Cup where we eat like nachos, wings, pizza and beer all day. As I write this, daylight has dawned, and there are beautiful big fluffy snowflakes coming down . Not good for lake ice if it snows before they freeze, but so beautiful to see and great for cross country skiing and stuff. Yahoo to snow over rain. It will probably melt before I go to work my split shift today. I might try to do a bit of work in my yard during my split break, we'll see.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We can’t control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Thanks for sharing your journey with me and allowing me to share mine. I am grateful for you all.

Day 93—11/23— 178.2 ✅ (Trend Weight – 180.6) Two observations looking backward and looking forward:
LOOKING BACKWARD: I see that most of the weeks I have met my weekly goal and even achieved extra weight loss to help make up for the “bad” weeks. However, it is clear that just those couple of bad weeks, or actually bad days, have created situations that take weeks and weeks to completely fix. I continue to rarely eat at restaurants in my own town and keep mainly approved foods in my own kitchen but travel continues to be necessary for me and will not stop. It is clear that I MUST be more careful in my choosing when away from home. I don’t think it’s portion control so much as I’ve (pretty much) mastered asking for the box and taking some home (which ends up being my dinner later). It’s more a case of my choices. Something I must continue to work on.

LOOKING FORWARD: Thanksgiving is this week in the US and I will be attending two of them, one on the traditional day and then our very large and food-filled family one in my home on the 29th when all my family can attend. With the challenge ending the next morning, I am not going to weigh in for challenge end until probably 48 hours later. I just don’t want to skew my start numbers for the next challenge by starting at a false high and then dropping dramatically. I really want to continue to follow my experiment and plan for weight loss goals and I need the numbers more accurate than the day after a Thanksgiving Feast in order to maintain accurate data! I will come back to post the realistic numbers and then also post those to Challenge #25 as a start weight. The other option would be for me to end a day early. We’ll see how I feel when I have more time to think about it and decide which makes more sense.
I have to travel (maybe even tomorrow) for Thanksgiving shopping. That usually results in a gain, not just from the restaurant but from the long-distance sitting to and from. We also have my DGS’ 8th birthday this weekend (probably on Sunday). It’s such a tough time of year to accomplish any of my personal goals in light of all this. Ugh! I just realized that my long-running goal from the start of the challenge would expect me to lose 4 lbs this week. While that’s very difficult in itself, I know I cannot accomplish this with 4 special days of food within the same week! As usual, I’ll do what I can, when I can. In any case, I am proud of all of us for showing up each and every day for the past 100 days and working toward our healthier selves. Let’s finish #24 as strong as we can and enter #25 with a head start on the Christmas holidays!
🦃🦃🦃🦃 Day 94—11/24—177.6 ✅ (Trend Weight: 180.3) My magic 7!!!! So happy to see it today. I know it won’t last this week. I travel tomorrow and then there’s the birthday party and two Thanksgiving Feasts coming up, all later this week. But I’m so happy to see me starting a little further from the 180 border. There’s hope! I batch cooked two days ago, red beans & brown rice with simple veggies in order to change up my go-to protein and fiber sources for a few days. Last time I made this I gained weight every day until it was gone, so I ate smaller portions this time. It’s very high calorie and high carb and it’s not my favorite, but I’m proud that I’m at least trying to eat a few vegetables which makes it healthier than my usual fare.

Did not weigh this morning (I'm very inflamed from all the walking yesterday and couldn't face the scale). Had a great day yesterday with my friend at the ROM and AGO. We spent most of our time at the ROM and saw the Kusama Infinity Room exhibit. If you ever have the opportunity to see one of her exhibits, TAKE IT! Her exhibits really inspire thought and conversation.
I haven't been doing formal exercise over the last few days to rest my joints. I'm not sure how long my mental health will allow for that. It is all a balancing act. I think I need to look at my workout routine and find workouts that allow for muscle engagement without much stress on my joints.

Love your looking backward and forward thoughts. I had the same sort of dilemma throughout these challenges when trips. I ended the previous two challenges in the middle of or right after a trip, both times at an up weight. I decided to just go with it. The way I have my spreadsheet set up, I look at all my data and the challenges are just subset data points. Regardless of what you decide to do with the challenges, you need to focus on the overall trend for you overall.
And the next day was 177.6 !! You are doing something correctly right now. Keep it up and you'll be reaching the 160s by the new year.@bteri107 22nd to 23rd —> What a big overnight drop! That always feels so good.

It kind of reminds me of the cruise we did, the night I ordered a fruit plate for dessert. I got a few 'judge-y comments', but it is what I wanted, so I didn't care what anyone else thought. Perhaps rather than thinking about will power we need to frame it out differently; I'm just not sure what that different frame is. Someone once told me 'anything that is fresh and in moderation is good for you'.
