    @jennysweet58 Exercise has so many benefits. I always say that I exercise more for my mental health than my physical health. Sometimes, I don't feel like exercising, but once I convince myself to start, then I always feel better and energized afterward.

    @Lilylady3k You are so creative! I'm sure your granddaughters will love the cards you made for them.
    RE "@age _is_just_a_number and @plantpowered - taking a step back is always a good idea!!! I retired in 2019 weighing 245 … obviously retirement has been good for me! Down 40 lbs! Every little bit helps. My ultimate goal is to weigh less each year." —> I retired last year. In fact it has been exactly 13 months ago today! The ability to really focus on myself has definitely been good.

    I was more focused yesterday. I did get my workouts done and hit my food goal. I didn't have a moment to eat dinner until just before bed due to an unexpected meeting. I stayed within goal, but I went to bed with food in my belly. It's not my favorite feeling, especially when I still feel a bit full in the morning.

    Anyway, I'll hit my goals again today.

    Thank you @Lilylady3k and @age_is_just_a_number It's true. it's easy to get frustrated with the day-to-day when, on the whole, things are going in the right direction . @Lilylady3k Your watercolor ghostie is so cute!

    Thanks all for your words on my cut finger. It doesn't hurt, it didn't hurt when it happened, that is a glass cut for you. It is on the knuckle area (the inside of it), so that is why I was not supposed to bend it for 24 hours. It is bandaged such that I can't really bend it anyway. It was amazing to have an extra day off. The nurse said no vinyl/rubber gloves because keeping it dry was important for the steri-strip to do its job.

    I am Dawn. I turned 65 this round. I have changed my eating habits over time. I basically eat half of the amount that I used to, and have limited eating Ribs to once every 3 months instead of once per week. I eat everything, just less of it and/or less often. I topped out at 207, at 5'2" that is not healthy at all! I joined MFP at 198lbs. Ultimate health goal for my arthritic feet is 110-118.

    Day 64—10/25 — 136.2 - I am okay with a .4 gain, I didn't get dinner until 1am! I kind of had to. I left work, came home, my friends were here, we walked over to the theatre and then came back here after. I really needed to eat after they left.

    Day 65—10/26 — 136.6 - We have had discussions about not being able to outrun the fork. I subscribe to Scientific American, and this study of ultra marathoners is interesting.

    Day 66—10/27 — 137.6 - Ouch! 3 nights of eating late. Expecting to be home from work by 3:30 today and my day off is tomorrow. This usually signals eating something a bit more fun and having a few cocktails, but after seeing this weight I may have to rethink that. Just a little more than 2 months and I plan/hope to cut down to working 5 days a week, ultimately 4.

    Day 67—10/28 — 137.0 - A good night's sleep, earlier dinner, small drop in weight. Watched the baseball game and of course I am rooting for the Toronto Blue Jays, but….I think that I have a crush on Ohtani from the LA Dodgers lol.

    Day 68—10/29 — 137.8 - I had a nice little walk before the sun hit my yard. I just don't find the time to do that very often, but I do plan on working less in 2026. I spent hours in the yard, I just kept going because it was my day off and I needed to do the 20-25' bean/pea garden - weeding, pulling out the stalks and cutting them up for compost, then covering the whole length. Not sure about the gain in weight, but sometimes that happens when I do a great deal of yard/garden work. After it got dark I put together a chili with stuff from my garden plus Yves Mexican ground round. It breaks up better than beef and is very tasty. I had some of that for dinner while watching the World Series, and am going to have that again tonight. I got 8 portions altogether to eat and to put in the freezer.

    Maybe I will begin to harvest beets and carrots next week. I don't pull the beets until I have time to process them because the skins get too soft if they sit after harvest.

    Day 69—10/30 — 137.6 - I picked up a shift at my second job while I was at my first job yesterday (bid system via text). It was going well until I cut my middle finger on some glass. Argh. Off to the nurse. Not supposed to bend it. Held together with steri-strip rather than go and sit in Emerg for 8-10 hours for a stitch. Not going to my primary job today, it was to be only a 4 hour shift anyway. No gardening or stuff like that. I will get out for a nice long walk, and likely a bunch of Fitness Marshall.

    Day 70—10/31 — 136.6 - 11-7 shift today, so I will be home to watch the World Series. I went for a great walk around a park yesterday that I haven't had the time to go to for quite some time. They paved it around 15 years ago, so when it is raining it is a good choice, no mud. It was a beautiful day and a perfect temperature for walking. I did a bunch of Fitness Marshall while it was still -2c, and then went up to the park. Some of you have seen this park in the past. This was my happy yesterday.

    The end of this dock is where I put my skates on in the winter. There is a hut, but then you have to get down the bank with skates on. From the dock is ideal for me.

    @dawnbgethealthy Gosh, I wish we had paved paths in my area. It used to be rough but now most everything in the woods and near the river are impassable since the ice storm in late March. They will never clear it or clean it up. They never have and it has gotten worse each year. Now, well…. it's sad. I do miss it. I enjoyed seeing your pics. Beautiful!

    Thoughts at the start of this round:

    This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We can’t control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Thanks for sharing your journey with me and allowing me to share mine. I am grateful for you all.

    Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

    This week I came back from an Amazing Cruise in Caribbean ✈️🛳️🏝️🌊 We were lucky, great weather amazing places to visit, more than please with our vacation!❤️

    Back to work right away, was a crazy week 😉 Trying to get back on track, good routine, eat less and better, exercise etc but didn’t go so well this week. Oh well, hopeful for the weekend! 😉

    🎯 Started strong and then just got back into the maintain mode. Not complaining since it is lower than my last 209-211 holding pattern. But really want to strive to feeling more comfortable in a bathing suit before cruising in the South Pacific in March. Pep Talk Time! 6 months … half a year! Plenty of time to lose 20-30 pounds if I focus on 5 lbs per month … basically a pound a week. Dedicate the next 24 weeks to breaking through those mental barriers and pushing the holding pattern lower and lower. Next month’s goal … <203

    9/9: 208.6 / 207.8 - Crazy busy day coordinating and testing 58 adult ESL students plus my art class. My Marley Spoon box came in. I love the variety that they offer and the meals are healthy though the portions are too big. It made it really easy to serve pork loin with butternut squash and Brussels sprouts.
    9/10: 207.8 / 207.9 - bike 30 min Today I’m devoting to watercolor and making sure I get on my bike. I had 2 compliments that I’m trimming up (especially the legs) … due to the almost daily bike ride. My hematologist oncologist visit was cancelled for today after they tried for 3 weeks to get insurance approval for the lab work. No reason to see him if we have no lab results to review. When I switch to Medicare in October the lab work will not need approval and will be covered. I guess there is one good thing about turning 65 soon.

    Ready for NOVEMBER and ready to tackle the rest of my 200+ pounds!!

    Proud of myself this Halloween. I didn't buy nor did I eat any Halloween candy. We were at my daughter's with all my kids and grandkids for the evening. There was plenty of candy and the grandkids were also willing to share their booty but I passed. I did indulge in a couple of Krispy Treats that I brought to the party LOL

    We didn't know quite what to expect since she moved into the neighborhood in April and this was their first Halloween at their home. We were told to be there before 4:30 to get in.

    The neighbors blocked off the U shape street and had a huge street party. The organizer wanted to set up in my daughter's very wide long driveway which she agreed not really knowing what that meant. We parked our 6 cars in the driveway and they still had tons of room. So the DJ, costume contest and balloon guy were all in her driveway & yard. Then someone on her street owns a Mexican restaurant which set up their food truck close by as well with nachos, tacos, quesadillas and margaritas. The owner gave all the neighborhood families free tickets for food and drink. I stuck to the chili my daughter made and some wine we brought. Party broke up at 7pm and the kids started trick or treating on the street. It was a fun evening.

    I think this was the best costume I saw … a carousel. But there were many many others … babies all the way up to adults dressed for the occasion. My daughter and her husband with another neighbor.
