Wanted to say Hello

Hi, my name is Cindi , I live on the central California coast. I am on a heath journey I never thought I would be on. I need to lose 50lbs. It seems overwhelming. But I am determined to succeed. Thank you and God Bless.

Hi Cindi, I am John from Pennsylvania and my journey started in 2019. At 58 I realized that I needed to start thinking of my health during my retirement year, I called it retirement plan B. I was about 70 lbs over my target weight and not very active. I started out joining a gym and just walking on a treadmill for about 3 months. I started cutting certain foods out of my daily meals. I trained my mind to not focus on the end goal but to set smaller short term goals for my weight loss. I started logging my weight daily and very quickly learned that the scale results are a hate/love relationship. Being a data guy, I would track my loss daily, weekly, monthly and after time I shifted to monitor my weekly weight average loss. That helped me to stay in this fight mentally without the scale discouragement that cause some people to give up. Eventually I started adding weight training. I wasn’t looking for immediate success as I was looking for a lifestyle change, not just weight loss. I didn’t start a diet plan, I used things that worked for others that I felt I could be successful with and maintain. Once I added my fitness pal to count my calories the process ramped up. In 13 months I dropped 60lbs and settled in there for a few years. Fast forward I gained 10lbs and have recently lost 6.5 of them and my target is to lose 13 more to get where I originally wanted to be.
I say all that in hopes that maybe something in this will help you along in your new journey. It is a mental fight that is 100% worth it!
