@EmmaNemm27 welcome to the group! Congrats on that major achievement. That's impressive. This is a great group to help stay motivated and get support .

@plcarpenter- So frustrating, I can understand. I have gone through many phases of this exact thing. It might just be your body adjusting to going from sedentary to very active . It sounds like your doing all the right things. Hang in there. 💪

@Kupla71 that darn snacking monster! You will get it under control!

@journey2zen Welcome to the group. Back to counting always helps me get back in the right mindset when I feel myself going off track.

@SofaKween - way to go on completing that first run. I am not familiar with that and how they work? is it a series of smaller runs to achieve the 25K with a certain amount of time? Sounds like a great way to stay motivated.

    Sept
    9/1 DNW Lost Duncan
    9/2- 149.4
    9/3- 150.6 10K steps
    9/4- 149.6 10K + steps
    9/5- DNW
    9/6 Horse show DNW
    9/7- Horse Show DNW
    9/8- 152
    9/9- 150.6

Glad to see that number come back down.

Dragged myself back into my garage gym yesterday afternoon and did 15 minutes of walk/run intervals on a slight incline and then did weights. I was having yet another rough day missing my dog, as it was one week yesterday we lost him. So many reminders. I am trying to cope better but I randomly have episodes of many tears through out the day .Having my other dog here helps but she and I don't have the same bond and she is a bit out of sorts due to senility .

Anyways I got my workout done nonetheless. I was going to do a combo of upper/lower body but it morphed into doing mostly legs and butt. I felt weak. Even had to drop a plate on my machine where I do the leg raises so I just did more sets to offset it. Today has to be Bicep /Triceps /Back. My goal is to get a workout in every day until Friday when I leave for my trip. I will be gone until the 26th so no weighing , no logging, no checking in for quite a while. I am pretty worried about the food thing while traveling . We plan to go to the grocery store and get food to pack in our cooler that we will take with us as we make our way around the Ring road. But still..

Well I didn’t expect that. One night of skipping the snacking and I’m 2 lbs lighter. I felt hungry last night and just had a glass of Metamucil and lots of water. Anyway. I’m glad to see this number.

@plcarpenter Hang in there. Things will look up.

    @HappyDonkey75 - C25K is short for Couch To 5 Kilometres - not 25 😱 Kilometres.

Supposed to do 3 runs per week over 9 weeks and aim is to get you running either for 30 minutes with no walking or to be able to run 5K - 3.1 miles. Each session consists of a 5 min brisk walk to warm up then alternate easy running with brisk walking, followed by 5 min brisk walk cool down.

Gradually the running intervals increase and the walking intervals decrease. There's a free app that I have on my phone; it plays music and there's an encouraging voice that tells me when to start jogging and when to walk.

I've started it several times but only completed it once - last time I attempted it was early 2024 when I still had membership of a gym with a treadmill but i only got as far as week 3.

My minimum “walking for exercise” number should be close to 3 miles a day or 7,500 steps. Plus a daily yoga practice (YWA) for 30 days of September.

Second run completed – followed the week 2 schedule of run walking and doubled up on plasters on the backs of heels.  Not sure when the next run will be as transport strike is ending so should be able to get back to the gym. One run a week should be doable, but it will mean slower progress but i'm okay with that.

I haven't been weighing, my schedule is so off right now, in bed at midnight and up again by 6am. I'll be weighing/commenting sporadically over the next few weeks, even though I'm still focused. My latest frustration: my left shin is super painful. If I walk on it, it's a bit tweaky at first, but then it's fine; and then about an hour after working out, I'm in pain. So I didn't work out the past two days, not wanting to make it worse, and hoping whatever I've stressed or strained calms down so I can get back to longer walks again. This entire aging process is driving me nuts. I feel like I'm ready for a robot body.🤣

Welcome @EmmaNemm27 , @plcarpenter, @journey2zen, and anyone I may have missed — I'm trying to keep up with posts, but not doing a great job. I hope you find this small group motivating, and see that we're all on similar journeys here, even if we're at different points in the journey. We're happy to have you with us.

@tishsmith101 - Thinking of you, and sending you good thoughts and energy.

@HappyDonkey75 and @cupcakesandproteinshakes I hope you both make the most of your trips/travels — enjoy!

And happy Friday! It took forever for Friday to get here. 😂 Have a great day, everyone.

I went to see my naturopath to talk about improving a few health markers including weight. She’s a strong believer in intermittent fasting, it was the first thing she said. My weight loss has pretty much stalled so I’m going to give it a go. The protocol is a 24 hour fast once per week and otherwise 12 hours fast. If the 24 hour fast doesn’t work for me then I can just do 14 hour fast daily. She’s also encouraging me to amp up the strength training and protein which is fair.
