Determined to Improve

Hello, everyone. I am from Charlotte, NC and just joined MFP yesterday. Please give a yell if you live near the Charlotte Metro Area. I have plateaued on my weight loss journey and found MFP through a thorough search for a way to assist me onwards to my goal of getting down to 200 pounds. I started in July 2024 at 287 pounds and bottomed out at 242 pounds in July 2025. Hence, my search and arrival on MFP. Hopefully, I will find a way to attain my goal and maintain it going forward.

    Hello and welcome!

I joined MFP in 2015 under semi-similar circumstances: I'd already lost nearly half the amount of weight I'd eventually lose, and while I hadn't strictly speaking plateaued/stalled, my weight loss had become less predictable. I started logging food to make the process more predictable so I could manage it better, not just for weight loss but also for nutrition and health. (I admit, weight loss was my main focus at first.)

Calorie counting was the perfect tool for me: I lost at a managed, moderate pace down to a good weight, and have been at a healthy weight for nearly 10 years since. I admit a few pounds have slowly crept on, then needed to be crept off again. The knowledge I gained from logging helped accomplish that pretty painlessly, too. For that whole decade, I've been in a healthy range and the same jeans size (I hate to clothes shop!).

If food logging and calorie counting suits you, I'm betting you'll have a similar experience.

    Wishing you success!
