I am breastfeeding (11mo. old, just got my supply down to how much she eats, I have donated over 45 gallons of milk!) and I have a pretty set weekly routine for working out and such. I am very active. I am a horse trainer and ride 5-6 days a week, then I het the gym for HIIT cardio and weight lifting 3 days a week. But since I am so consistant, I eat a daily amount to avarage over the week. I don't do the daily net amounts for workouts. I eat 2000-2300 a day, pretty consistantly. But if I am hungry and had a good workout, I eat more (keep it too mostly protein-type snack). I would rather lose slowly and build muscle, so my skin wil shrink back nicer. And breastfeeding my daughter is way more important. Besides, if you don't eat enough during breatfeeding you will suffer. Your milk supply, and your body will be hurt. Our bodies know they need to feed that baby and are very effective in getting the needed fuel from somewhere. I found when I didn't eat enough, I would not lose weight at all! I ate more, and bam! nice steady weight loss. But I have a hard time eating enough.
I am 5' 6" and 157 right now. I do have a lot of muscle, and I am very active all day long between being a SAHM and doing barn chores. On top of my "workouts" of riding/training horses and the gym. My goal is around 145, but more concerened about how I look and feel at that point.
Anyways, your body is far diffrent then others. And breastfeeding adds a huge factor to be accounted for. So you will need to eat more then most ladies. So do it! Besides, skin shinks back nicer if you lose weight slow! LOL Thats what I tell myself anyways!
I just want to say that I love you...platonically and over the internet kind of way And this is for 2 reasons: 1) YEAH BREASTFEEDING!! I exclusively nursed my son until he was 8 months and then continued until he was 15 months - I would of went to 2 yrs if it wasn't for going away on vacation without him for a week and my supply twindling (My fault completely, I didn't pump enough). 2) YEAH HORSES!!! I love horses and everything to do with them, I even love cleaning the stalls0 -
I'm 45, 5'8", eat around 1900 a day. Don't really care about my weight at this point, just focused on lowering body fat a bit more.0

I'm on 1560 a day, setting is slightly active so unless I treadmill, bike or swim I don't knock any off for exercising.
I'm 5ft 9.0 -
MFP calculated that is should eat 1320. 5'8 200lbs0
-
I am 5'3 (and a half) 143 pounds (started at 177-180) and I eat 1400, MFP had me set to 1200 and I did that for a while but was uncomfortable so I bumped myself up a bit.0

I've just started and want to loose 2pounds a week, i'm aiming to eat 1,200 because that is what is recommended by myfitnesspal if i want to stay on track, is this too little?
I'm 60kg/132pounds and 5'40 -
1800-2500+ Average around 2000.
My BMR is around 1350
My TDEE on average is 2400ish (1800 on super duper uber lazy days, 2200 on "rest" days and 2800-3500 on lifting/very active days).
I'm 166cm (just over 5'5") and weigh 63.2kg (139lb).0 -

Do some research on here. You definately need to eat more than you are.ok...so I'm VERY NEW to dieting and I'm apparently clueless to what I'm suppose to be doing but how can you eat so many calories and still lose weight? I thought you ate less calories=weight loss? I workout out guaranteed for 30 minutes of the 30DS and i try to jog/run/walk at least 2x/week. My calorie goal is 1100. Is that right?0

With 10 pounds to lose, your weekly weight loss goal should be 1/2 pound per week. Only people who are obese/morbidly obese can lose 2 or more pounds per week.0 -
I am 5 foot 9 and eat between 1,300 to 1,500 calories per day.0
-
1200 non-workout days, 1500 house deep clean days (3 days a week), 2000 long run days (3 days a week). I find that the variation keeps my metabolism going. Currently losing about 3-4 pounds a week and feeling great! And I'm 6'0
-
I eat between 1500 and 1900 a day. I am 5ft 5. I was eating less and exercising more, but just felt sluggish all the time. So I upped my cals and lowered the amount of exercise I do, and I am still taking the weight off at about 2lbs per week. I eat 50% to 80% of exercise calories back.0

Don't mean to be rude, but to those of you who posted that you're 5'1" or shorter, but eating 1450 calories or more on rest days: how much do you weigh? I'm 5'1" and my no exercise maintenance is 1320! BUT, I'm 99 pounds. Height can't be the only factor here. Just curious, again, not trying to be rude.
I'm 176lbs right now, and dropping a bit faster than I would like. I work out strenuously though and have taken up distance running. My BMR is around 1460.0 -
I usually eat somewhere between 1500 & 1650 and exercise off about 300 calories by walking or running. I have not exercised the last few days due to a migraine and yesterday I *way* over ate due to some stress at work. I am feeling better and am heading our for a nice long walk now.0
-
Supposed to be 1400 on rest days (but I end up eating nearer 1550 ). Active days I'm on 18-1900, and lifting days 2000-2200.0
-
2,200 is what I'm allowed each day. I tend to burn about 630 working out. I keep the workout calories as a "savings" account, just in case I want to splurge that day. But if I don't feel any especial urge to, I just leave them. More deficit for me!
I'm 5'11.0 -
5'6". Net 1500. I lift heavy 3x/week and jog/HIIT 2x/week. Some days my food intake can reach 2300. But I still net 1500. I ALWAYS eat all exercise calories back. I love to eat - refuse to deprive myself.
Edit:
Oh, and for anyone confused about TDEE and BMR. This is a great resource: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/974889-in-place-of-a-road-map-short-n-sweet
You don't have to deprive yourself! Just learn what your body needs based on your activity and desired results.0 -
1700 every day. That's a 15% deficit from TDEE. I'm 5'0. I lift heavy three days per week and pretty much just do mobility work on non-lifting days. I do a fair amount of walking on weekends, sometimes hill sprints, but that tends to interfere with my lifting, so I've cut back on that.0

5'3 here.....I have found that 1500-1600 works best for me and I eat a little of my exercise calories back. My cw is 126.2 and my gw is 125 (maybe a little less since going on maintenance might make the scale jump up a few lbs.) I exercise about 4 times a week - 50 min on the eliptical and alternate between legs and upperbody strength training. Been on here since about the middle of January and have had to work through some serious plateaus but overall I am very happy with the results : )0

Your calories are too low -depending on your height and current weight, you need to figure out your BMR which is the calories you burn just by "being"-digestion, getting up, showering, etc.
Although you are correct that less calories = weight loss, cutting your calories too much puts your body into starvation mode and the body starts storing fat. Then of course, you burn more calories when you work out so you need to account for that as well...If you eat 1100 calories and burn 600 during a workout, you are only giving your body 500 calories to sustain itself...which it can't for an extended period of time and be successful.
I would recommend you find your BMR add about 400 calories when you workout (if it is a moderate intensity) and then subtract 250-500 calories a day to get your caloric intake for the day and this should give you sustained, even, and sensible weight loss
Good luck!!0 -
