I'm 5'5" and 140- I wear a size 2, 4 or 6 (depends on brand, etc.- mostly size 4). When I was in high school and weighed 140 I was in a size 9.
The difference now is (starting at 160) I lost 30~ish pounds, and put some weight back on by lifting. It all depends on body composition
I can relate. I'm 5'5" and 143 and currently wear a US size 6. In high school I was 135 and wore a size 9. More recently in fact at my heaviest I was 168 and still managed to squeeze into a size 10/12. However I had no strength or muscle definition and was very squishy. I've lost about 25 pounds now. The difference as you said is body composition. I exercise now and back then I did not. I think it makes a difference.0 -
I'm 5'3" and at 173 pounds I wear a size 18 UK so, I think a US 16. I'm carrying a lot of excess weight in my tummy and naturally have bulky legs and a big backside plus wide hips. I also like my jeans a bit longer so don't buy petite.0

Depends how your body is made up really. I started this time round at 167lbs and was wearing (UK) 16. Previously around this weight I could fit comfortably in a 14.
I got down to 150 a couple of years ago and could fit in some size 10 jeans (still size 12 tops)
Currently I'm 114lbs and wearing size 100 -
I am 5' 4" and weigh 177 pounds. Size 12 feel a little tight, 14 a little big! At my starting weight of 189 I had to pour myself into my 14 and was probably a size 16, I just couldn't go out and buy them. Sizes have so changed since I was a kid, manufactures have changed the labeling to make us feel better about the number on our pants. I am trying to take my goal off that number and put it more on my body fat but after 35 years of judging how I look by the size I wear it will be tough, haha!0

5' 3" now 146lbs (woop!) Just jumped into my size 8 jeans with no muffin top!
8 weeks ago I was 168 and squeezing into a size 12-14
A note on body composition- my thighs have shrunk a bit so my rear looks better in the 8's0 -
I love this site whenever I need to compare sizes:

Just checked out this site! LOVE IT!!!!0 -
I am 5ft 4in, weigh 222 and wear a size 20 to 22 jean. I have seen posts by others and they are heavier than me but wearing a smaller jean size. I just keep telling myself "they must be tall".
So if you are right around my height, what is your weight and jean size? Just curious. Thanks.
anyway, I am 5.2 or 5.3 (i think 5.2). i started at 233 and i was size 22-24, between 2x and 3x
i lost 19 lbs, so now i'm about 214 and i am *almost* fitting into size 18s (as in i can barely close them but i can't breathe). my 3xs are all falling off/too baggy, most of my 2xs are too big.0 -
5' 4 1/2" - in my 20 and 30's (age) I weighed 120 and wore a size 8. I am now 161lbs and wear a size 8. Barely! My weight is in my tummy, so, a size 10 doesn't squeeze the muffin out. LOL. I was down to 150 this spring and the 8 fit wonderfully!!! Trying to get back down to that size. My doctor wants me to get to 135lbs. Not sure if I'll ever make it, but felt really good at 150. I think we have come to an agreement that I will get down to 145 and we'll see after that.
It seems to me that most of the girls wear about the same size at 135-140 and 5' 4. But, we all carry our weight in different places depending on how we exercise. (Maybe?) Anyway, make sure you are losing weight for yourself and not so you can get into the size someone else is at your height. Its all about you, girl!! Make yourself happy and you'll reach that goal! Good Luck!
P.S. At 197lbs, I wore a size 16/18.0 -
163cm, 72kg and I wear a size 40.
That's 5'4", 158lb and UK12/US10, for people who can't do metric. I find lbs and inches so confusing :-/0 -
I'm 5'3.5", weight 241 and I'm a size 18/20.0

5'4 130-132lbs size 3-6 depending on the brand.0

I'm 5'4"
at 180 I was a 14 or 16 depending on brand and style
at 168 I was a 12
at 145 I was an 8
at 123 I am a 2.
Hope this helps but each person has a different body type. I never thought to fit into anything smaller than an 8. When in high school and college I was 105-115 I was wearing 8's. I think the sizing industry has changed quite a bit!! :grumble: :laugh:0 -
I am 5'6 inches tall.
I weigh 141 pounds and I am in a size 10 jeans.
Used to wear size 12, but they are all too loose on me now.0 -
I'm 5'5" and wear an 18 jeans. 205 pounds. The seat and thighs are always looser than the waist due to an apple body shape. My tops are size 2 X.
My thin weight is 130 and at that time I was a size 9 jean and tops a medium.0 -
I'm 5'2 and wear a size 14 and weigh 190. But I'm also wanting to lose enough weight to be back down to a size 8-10 because I feel that's where I will feel my best and be able to keep up with my kids.0
-
5'3". Currently around 245 lbs. I wear between an 18 and 20.
....a few years ago I was around 190 lbs and wore 14's (tight) and 16's.
It's basically how you hold your weight.0 -
I'm 5'4 and 1/2 I weight 182 and wear size 14 pants.0
-
I'm 5'4 weigh ~136 and wear a 10. I can fit into some 8's but a 10 is more comfortable. I carry my weight in my butt and outer thighs.0
-
I'm 5'3.5. I started at 220 and I was in a 16/18 pant.
I'm now 162 and I'm in a size 10. My lower body is smaller than my upper - I have a big belly (still ugh)0 -
Im 5'10" ~ 200lbs.
Jeans are a 34w x 33l0 -
I'm a little over 5'4" ..
159 lbs.. size 13/14 fits me & is pretty loose now .. or a size 11/12 is tight
Shirt size medium or large0 -
Im 5'10" ~ 200lbs.
Jeans are a 34w x 33l
LOL
Going that route are we?!? Maybe all pants should be done like the men's, it would be more realistic.0 -
I am 5'4". I started at 204 wearing very tight 16 from the plus size store (would probably equivalent to an 18 in regular sizes). I am now at 187 and can get into and zip my size 12 Levi's but cannot wear them in public yet. I would say I could wear a 14 if I had them but not gonna spend the $$$ on jeans that I won't wear long.0

Hi I am 5, 4 and I weigh 144. I started at a jean size 14 and am now in a size 10 or 8 comfortably depending on the brand. Usually my shirt is medium unless it runs small.0

5'4" 258 Size 20-22 US (depending on fit). Lots of things make a difference though! I hiked approximately 1200 miles on the appalachian trail in 2006 and weighted 180 when I got back - I was in a size 8-10. (and I can't get any smaller than that - my hip bones are too wide!)0

I'm 5'5" and 140- I wear a size 2, 4 or 6 (depends on brand, etc.- mostly size 4). When I was in high school and weighed 140 I was in a size 9.

This is exactly me, as well. Lifting lowers your body fat % and makes a big difference in what size you are. Scale weight is the least effective way to measure, I find.0 -
I'm slightly shorter than you (5'2"), and I weigh 192. I wear size 16 jeans, sometimes a size up or down depending on brand.0

I'm 5'2" 147 and wear a size 10 petitie jeans or 8 petite dress pants.
I've just read some replies to your OP that girls taller and heavier than me wear smaller sizes, too ?!?!
So... don't get hung up on clothing sizes... I could wear a 6, too, but it would NOT look good ! :noway:0
