    I'm a publc safety telecommunicator...

So basically, I answer 911/emergency and non-emergency police/fire/ems calls and then dispatch said units to their destination...

Oh, and since I work graveyards we also handle after hours calls for public works and animal control :)

    WHAT UP?!?!?!

    :-)

Just doing the job...dispatching on the fire/ems side tonight

I bet you have some stories.

I sure do, the good, the bad, the ugly and the hilarious!!

My husband has a friend that works for police dispatch here. When he was 20, he had a police car turn its lights on behind him, pulling him over. He quickly called his dispatcher friend and told her what was going on, she said she'd take care of it and hung up. He pulled off the road and the police officer slowed and appeared to be pulling in behind him, then just drove off. He got a text from his friend saying "you're welcome."
He had no clue why he was being pulled over. He went home and began checking his car and discovered a tail light out. This is probably all it was but it could still have prevented a ticket :p
  • Mostly retired, but I work part-time three days a week at a vehicle rental company to keep from getting bored.

I'm a stay at home mom, but some days it doesn't feel like a lot of staying at home , taking kids to school, doctor's appointments, activities, etc… I'm a homework helper, cook, maid, slave driver (if you ask the kids), chauffeur, nurse, counselor, etc.

The pay kind of sucks, but the benefits can't be beat!

    Physics professor.

I gave my students a lab on work, energy, and power this week. They had to do pushups and run up and down the stairs and figure out how much energy they were expending. The Athletics Training majors were really into it. It was a riot. :)

Workaholic ... I am a professor, serial entrepreneur (CEO of my 2nd biotech startup, CFO of my 3rd) and in my spare time I am editor-in-chief of a scientific journal. Definitely part of the problems, since I sit in-front of a computer most of the time.

    That is awesome.

    And crazy! I'd probably drink...alot.
  • I am currently employed as a restaurant hostess (hardly a way to avoid temptations, I know).
Otherwise I work as an artist by trade; offering affordable commissions and personalized pieces.
