I got addicted to a donut.

If you are dreaming about it, then you have a problem.
And really, how people would rather have 500 calories from one single sugar/bad fats loaded donut instead of from a juicy perfectly grilled steak it's beyond me.
I'm a vegetarian.....bring on the donut!0 -
For me these things can go one of two ways. Either I eventually get tired of it and am on to my next food love, or one is no longer enough and then it is two, etc. I am OK with indulging the first, just fitting it into my day for a limited time frame, but the minute it starts teetering on "if one makes me happy think how happy TWO will make me!" then I have to nip it, cold turkey. I have a certain number of calories I allot to discretionary things, and I function better all around if I do not regularly go over that number.0

I think of myself as a non-practicing chocoholic. I haven't had chocolate since February. Since there's no way for me to have 'just a little bit' I had to go cold turkey instead. If you have a tough time controlling yourself, abstaining may be the way to go.0

For me, I know it might be weird. Do you remember that commercial, where the person that ate a lot of donuts, was wearing a huge donut prop around them? And the lady that ate honey buns, had huge prop ones on her buns? Anytime I eat potato chips, ice cream, donuts, or anything that makes you fat I picture that commercial, and imagine for instance a bag of potato chips stuck tp the front of my shirt. Weird I know. But it helps me to avoid fatty foods. Remember, a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips.
Fatty foods don't make you fat.0 -

This is so me. I'm a total chocoholic. It stinks. OP I completely get it. I don't know how you get over it, but I know how addicting some food can be. Basically you've created an emotional attachment to the donut. From what I've heard you have to create an undesirable emotional attachment to get over it. Not sure if this works or not, but that's what I've heard.0 -
I would buy 1 dozen and make yourself sick.0

its obviously the topping that you like. so why not slice the top 3rd of the donut off (with the topping) and ditch the rest.
BAM, 500cal probably became 250.0 -

No, I love the entire donut! Didn't you read about it being filled with coconut cream throughout? And it is a rising yeast donut. It is a light fluffy pleasure that melts in your mouth.0 -
Oh. My. OP, you have my sympathy. How about cutting it in half and throwing one piece in the trash, quickly? Or walk back down that line and offer the second half to a random person. That could be fun
I was going to suggest this, too! Or if you don't want to share with a stranger, how about a coworker or other acquaintance? You might just brighten someone's day and isn't that worth giving up half a donut when you get one each day? Then, you get all of the goodness inside and out for only half the calories!0 -
I am a DONUT HOAR!!!
So I can't look at this page too long...
Want me to do something for you? Bring me a DONUT!
Imma a dirty, dirty, dirty donut trollup..lol
But I have given them up...and I miss them..
ME, TOO. I should NOT have opened anything with the word "donut" in the title! Thank God my hubby wants to support me more than he wants to exploit this weakness. I've been craving donuts for weeks! A while ago, I had several over a weekend that did nothing to curb the cravings. It's odd because donuts used to make me sick if I had more than one or two, but not anymore. We only have one little small town bakery and I don't go to town so I now dream of making donuts daily. Luckily, I can't cook so it would be a disaster!. :laugh:0 -
Goodness OP, I have he same issue! But my addiction is the auntie Anne's almond pretzel dipped in caramel sauce. I fell in love with that when i was 10, but the stall near my place place closed down in a few years, so I only ate it sporadically....till I moved to a new country and GUESS WHAT I FOUND A MERE 15 MIN WALK FROM MY PLACE?!!
I crave this everyday. And it's filled with tons of childhood pleasures, years of eating. I'm thinking whether I shld just suck up the 530 calories or eat 6 (4,800 calories!!) now and never eat it again till the end of the year
Or it might just be my period is coming0 -
Ok I ordered 5 and I could barely finish 3. So sick of it now. But I'm craving meat now. Gonna eat a small beef bowl and then buy some liver for tomorrow! May the cravings go away now.Goodness OP, I have he same issue! But my addiction is the auntie Anne's almond pretzel dipped in caramel sauce. Donut any day. As long as it's a good one.0 -
I also love their creme brulee cream filled mini donut.
They constantly rotate flavors:
"• Doughseeds — our mini, round filled doughnuts. Launched with our signature Creme Brûlée, flavors now include Rose (with a rose water pudding and dipped in a rose water glaze, topped with an edible rose petal), Hazelnut Chocolate, Matcha Green Tea, Peanut Butter & Blackberry Jam, Pistachio, Strawberry & Cream and Wild Blueberry & Cream."
And there are so much more to try - Tres Leches (filled with condensed milk)...
Help me.0 -
I did not get one today, so I am suffering from withdrawal.
I'm going to spread the misery, so here:
Peanut butter and jelly donut in peanut butter glaze:
Pistachio
There are also Lavender donuts, Mayer lemon donuts, hazelnut creme donuts...0 -
Don't eat till your sick, but come on, we need a little enjoyment. My motto is I run so I can eat! I am going to have a treat. Getting real though, every day? Might be a little extreme. Cut back to every other day and keep up the workouts.0

You sound like you can probably afford the donut, OP. Be kind to yourself.0
-
Really? Move on!0

OP, you clearly have a problem. You just replaced one donut with another one and you're still going to the same store. :laugh:0

I want the hazelnut creme one!0

You love the doughnut, you're willing to work out to make up for the extra calories, you're not gaining weight. Run the problem by me again?
This. Maybe eat one every other day (maybe Tues Thurs or MWF) so it doesn't take up so many of your calories, but if it's your favorite treat and you don't mind spending calories on it, enjoy it.
The only reason one might be a little concerned is if they contain man made trans fats since those are kind of horrible for you.0 -
Just looked at the site. I'm sooooo glad I don't live in NYC or I would be way fat from that doughnut shop.0
-
om nom nom.
just have one a week. it's frequent enough that you are enjoying it often, but infrequent enough that it's still a treat
done and done.0 -
That reminds me of this little bakery in the middle of nowhere (Tipton, IA). They have these pastries that are made with a cinnamon role base, topped with a layer of coconut flacored cream cheese, and then sprinkled in toasted coconut. They are the most delicious sweey thing I have ever put in my mouth, but I think one exceeds my daily alotment of calories.0
-
I have not tried the cashew and orange blossom cream filled one yet.
I am a very inquisitive person and I just have to know what that tastes like.
Shop near me has a very limited selection, I have to go to Chelsea for that one.0 -
Peanut butter and jelly donut?! Holy yummmm!
After a while they might not seem like a huge deal anymore, and you won't want them as often. I tried the gorging thing hoping it would turn me off chocolate. All it did was make me poop a lot. I started eating Pop Tarts again once I realized it was ok to eat them. I had stopped because I always ate both, and sometimes 4. Now I log one and bag the other for later. I was eating them every day, and now, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually getting Pop Tarted out. Can't say the same for ice cream, but I'm ok with that. :bigsmile:0 -

Oh no! I'm in Des Moines. I'll pretend I have no idea about this bakery. Good thing it's far enough away that I can't go everyday.0
