What is your silly MFP pet peeve?

How there is no "read" function in the forums -- so when you click on a thread you have to go either to the very beginning or the very end, not to the last post you read. Unless there's a way to do that and I haven't figured it out yet.
^^^ this, and nothing to find your own posts either. So if someone bumps an old thread with a lot of pages, and you can't remember what you wrote in it (but you know you must have written something because it's on your "my topics" page), you have to go through the whole thread to find out what you posted....
but seriously, this. a "jump to first unread post" button in My Topics would be very helpful.0 -
mine is how everyone uses "BUMP" incorrectly on this forum.
"bumping" a thread is not so you can find it later (that would be P4L = post 4 later or MT = My Topic).
Bump means "bumping" a thread back to the top of the forum to help continue/ spur the conversation.
This drives me crazy for somereason0 -
I have so so many.
1) asking what counts as water? Mfp making people worry about water intake.
2) saying "I'm no expert but..." And then saying silly stuff.
3) saying "yeah but you're no expert, where are your peer reviewed studies to reinforce your point?"
4) all the talk about women and lifting and not getting bulky!!! *yawn!*
5) people who ONLY want to flirt.
6) ten people attacking one incorrect comment on a thread.
7) people who use any excuse to display their latest pics or videos of lifts shamelessly trying to draw attention away from the subject and on them.
8) "I've been doing this for a week and it doesn't work"
9) slagging spouses and other family members.
10) asking for advice so they can argue against every piece of advice they receive
And that's just the beginning but OK I'll stop....

If you're over 50, you're old, can't lose weight, have a slow metabolism, and are ready to be hauled off to a nursing home * creak, creak, creak * Plus you're computer illiterate.
That, and starvation mode... if you eat under 1200 one day, you've had it. You're starving.0 -
It's not the number of ellipses, it's how you use them....
I've recently become aware of how often I use them, now I am going to be paranoid too.......................................................................0 -

Others have posted "bumping for later reading", so I've followed their lead and done the same.
Thank you for clarifying, I'll start using P4L instead.0 -

Simply speechless here. I thought I was the only person in the English-speaking world who still cared about this. :drinker:0 -
OP's your pet peeve is genuine...You did not accept my blank FR.
But you will regret it because I am good enough, I am smart enough, and gosh darnit people like me!0 -
Mine is when the diary is not even visible to friends. I don't like to comment on those because being under on your calories can mean you are under by 10 calories or 1000. -.-0

"My foods" have any unit I want: ounces, grams, stalks, pieces, packages, cups, Tbsp....
But "My exercises" HAVE TO BE in minutes. WHY fer crying out loud (he cries out loud)? I don't get to a gym, but I do a lot of walking, and the stairs in my office building (eight flights, 172 steps, between street and office) are handy, and often faster than the elevators.
But look up "climbing stairs" in the exercise database or on the Web, and most of what you'll find is "climbing" on an exercise machine, or going up and down for x minutes. Know something? You do more work climbing UP stairs than going DOWN those same stairs. Looking at a bunch of papers on the Web, I finally found an estimate that you expend about twice as many calories going up as going down the same number of steps: at my weight, about 9 calories down, 18 up. So I added a My Exercise called "Walk down, ofc to st. (1 DESCENT =172 steps =9)". But I had to put the unit, "descent", into the name to remind myself that no, dammit, it is not minutes even though MFP insists on calling it that.
Similarly, I added "Trolley/bus to/from work (1-ways, not mins!)" for the walking part of my commute.0 -
For the FR with no message people, if they are on the app, they can't see your profile to know that you are requesting a message with your FR.
I still deny them anyway, but there could be a reason why they aren't listening to what you have asked.0 -
