I announce. I do it to give those that are about to be deleted a chance to speak up. I don't need a cry for attention. My friends are very active.

When people announce they will be cleaning their friends list before they do it or deactivating but going to wait a few days to do it. To me its just a cry for attention.

Your double post was clearly a cry for attention.

This Sometimes I've read something that you (general) posted and want to become friends or maybe you're friends with some of my friends. I shouldn't have to explain in full detail why I want to be friends. It's stupid.

Sure, but who sends a random FR from the app? Usually FRs from strangers come because they saw you on the forums and the forums can't be accessed from the app.

Ppl who make a big deal out of FR. It's not like a FR means that the person wants to exchange numbers. It's just a FR. And, you can find ppl one of maybe three ways on this site: the forum, a mutual friend's wall, or a blog. Why do you care how they found you????

That leads to my other pet peeve: ppl who put a million restrictions on their FR. The worst are the ppl who give the reasons that they'll delete others. Dude, are you on a power trip? It's not that serious. It's just a site.

i like how it's so simple to explain why the FR was sent when these two posters are complaining about it but the very idea of expressing it when they send a FR offends their delicate sensibilities. all I can assume is that they don't get very many FRs because if they did, they would realize that if the people that can't be bothered to type a single sentence into a FR also don't interact and tend to disappear from the site rather quickly. yet somehow i'm the bad guy for wanting to know if we have anything in common

Why would I care how long someone sticks around this site? LOL. Again, it's just a FR. I'm not actually trying to create some type of long-lasting relationship with anyone on this site. The point of me stating the three ways that ppl find out about others' profiles was to point out how stupid it is to have someone put that in the request. Unless you're advertising your profile outside of MFP, how do you THINK I found your profile and what other reason would I ask for the FR? And, the thing that we (except the flirters) have in common is our desire to be healthier. That should be obvious. I mean, this is a fitness site. So, it's also somewhat stupid to ask them to tell you what you have in common. Some of you are clearly looking for some type of companionship on this site. I don't get it, but whatever...

People who get offended over something that wasn't directed at them, but clearly feel guilty, and try to start an argument over a message board. I love the ignore button.

No, that is not the point at all.

mine is how everyone uses "BUMP" incorrectly on this forum.

"bumping" a thread is not so you can find it later (that would be P4L = post 4 later or MT = My Topic).

Bump means "bumping" a thread back to the top of the forum to help continue/ spur the conversation.

This drives me crazy for somereason

No. Bump = Bring Up My Post.

ANY word will push the thread to the top of the forum.

Clearly not eating enough different types of ice cream if its getting old. Try switching it up in order to keep things fresh.

Bump means whatever the poster wants it to mean.

Thanks for that. I didn't know what 'bump' was supposed to be used for. I think I used the search forums & majority of them said it was so you could easily find the topic again :embarassed:

Mine is when people send FR with no message. My profile clearly states why I don't accept FR unless you include a message so I find it very frustrating when people don't take the time to read your profile before hitting that "add friend" button. I think it validates my feelings on the included message with FR...
