hi, i'm 32 years old and the mom of two fabulous boys. my oldest is 8 and my youngest is 7. they are a handful. my husband and i have been married 10 years this month (!) and he wants to take me on a delayed honeymoon. normally, i would be thrilled about a cruise or a resort vacation, but i don't really want to go if i look and feel like this. i hate how flabby my stomach is now and the wonderful 'muffin-top' i have over my jeans. not sexy. :)

i weight 129 and have 16 pounds to lose. i have a medical condition that has made me slowly gain weight (without a change in my lifestyle) for the last couple of years. it has been frustrating watching the scale climb just a little bit higher every year despite my best efforts to maintain an active lifestyle and a healthy diet. it needs to stop now. it has become down-right embarrassing to go from a very petite size 2 to a large size 12-14 in less than 5 years. now that i know about it, a drastic change is taking place.

i have been working to change what has happened and reverse the weight gain. i am on medication that is supposed to help and it is slowly working. i consider myself to be a fairly healthy eater (regarding the food pyramid/recommended daily servings), but now that i can no longer eat as much, portion control is key. i am not always very good at that. :) i would like to have a stronger core and run a 15k in march next year in new york city with my awesome sisters and mom. my goal is to be 113 and a lovely size 6 before the end of the year.

    I'd be interested...

I'm turning 42 next Friday, am a chemistry/algebra/engineering teacher at a private high school, have two kids (12 YO son and 8 YO daughter).

My favorite "free time" activities include: running, weight training class, scrapbooking, wallyball, camping, and many more.

I would like to be down at least ten by Thanksgiving, getting me to within two pounds of my lowest weight (where I was when I ran a marathon in 2004 and was again about two years ago when I reached my lifetime membership at WW).

I will try to remember to check in next Wednesday.

I would like to join too. I currently weigh 191 but by November I would like to be down 20+ pounds. I'm a stay at home mommy of a little girl. She starts kindergarden this month. It is time for a change, I don't want her to think that being big is good. I have struggled but not really cared about my weight since she was born. My changing point was when she came up to me and said "mommy I want to be fat like you" that just broke my heart. I started my journey August 12, 2010. My end goal is 130.

Hi! This is a great idea! I've been looking forward to Thanksgiving, we are traveling to CO to visit with family. I'd like to be running at least 2 miles by then and lose another 15#. I want to inspire some family to join and get healthy. I'd also like a new cute outfit.

My current weight is 171.5 and my goal is 155 by Thanksgiving. I'm 34 and my goal is to be 135# (my high school weight) by my 35th birthday in May. I didn't think this goal was achievable until 3 weeks ago when I took action and joined MFP.
My husband and I will be celebrating our 15th anniversary August 19th. We have 4 children ages 13, 12, 10 and 5 months. I am a stay at home and home school mom. I love photography, baking, talking, walking, hiking, sewing, decorating...keeping busy and productive. I enjoy taking care of my family but sometimes do not like sharing my husband with my kids.

I live in a beautiful area where people keep to themselves too much for my chatty personality. Maybe I'll start feeling better about myself and have more energy so I can organize fun activities and meet new friends.

I'll join. I'm 35 and single. I have plenty of free time, so doing this should be easy right? Well, I will do my best. I currently weight 172. I would like to lose 10 - 20 pounds by Thannksgiving. I'll take whatever I can get. I'm going to Chicago to be with family for the holiday and would like to feel comfortable getting my picture taken. Will check in on Wednesday.

Got room for one more? I'm 37 and single and will be going to see the family at Thanksgiving, and would like to surprise them with a skinnier me. I'm 160 now (down from 165) and would like to get to 130.

Hello I’m Stormy Weathers and I’ve been on mfp since Mar 2010. As I approached sixty I saw my health and fitness level declining fast. I started to look for ways to improve overall health and have done some things both right and wrong to reach my current state of fitness. I have to say that mfp has contributed significantly to my overall fitness . The food /exercise log have kept me accountable and these communication threads have motivated and inspired me.

I’ve been on a long journey to my ultimate weight goal of 148 pounds. In January of 2009 I weighed 2009 pounds. Last week I weighed in the 150s for the first time in at least 15 years. I think this will be the perfect thread to help me fight off the last tough 10 pounds to get to my happy weight. I’m looking forward to hearing all of your success stories and participating in any challenges you offer us . Hope to hear from you all on the 18th for our first official weigh-in..

Thanks Dawn for starting this thread!!!

    I'd love to join!!

I'm a 35 (almost 36...yikes!) mother of one boy who just turned 7. I work full time as a Human Resources Director for a hospital. I used to be very thin, until I went off a migraine medication a year and a half ago and I've gained 20 pounds....almost overnight. My goal is 140 by Thanksgiving. Currently rockin' the scale at 159 (down 1 pound!!), and I am 5'5". Be gone size 10 jeans...hello size 6!!

    Bring it on!

Hey everyone! I too would like to join, although I'm at work right now and do not have a scale at home so I may not be able to weigh in today :embarassed: I do hope this is okay! I will definitely find a fix for this!! Anyhow, my name is Sarah. I''ll be 26 a month from today =) I used to be an extreme health nut and practically obsessed with the gym and then I got married ... and divorced ... and once I started to get back into the healthy lifestyle I had missed for a couple of years it came to a screeching halt when someone rear ended me the day after Christmas. I have bulging discs and some other issues, but hopefully nothing that will be permanent! I am still going to therapy for this, so I find it difficult to work out like I've always been used to! I'm the type to dive right in and push myself as far as I can but this time is different; I have had to learn to start slowly with light walking, pilates, etc. Things that will not strain my back. In high school I ran cross country, so that is typically how I've always lost weight and gotten into shape. There is still no running for me, not yet anyhow. So this makes this quite the challenge for me!!! I definitely would like to lose 15 lbs by Thanksgiving. I know that may not be possible since I have to stick to light activities but I am going to try anyways!!! Ohhh yeah, and my brother is supposed to be getting married on a cruise the week after Thanksgiving so ... it would be super nice to feel more confident in my swimsuit by then

I'd like to join; it'd be nice to be reporting in and feel accountable, rather than just scowling at my scale for a change.

I'm 26 and fairly active, but have plateaued in my weight loss goals. I'd like to be down another 15-20lbs by Thanksgiving. I run several days a week, do BODYPUMP and love the Arc Trainer at my gym (I'm more of a cardio junkie, but have tried increasing other activities via BP). I'm in training for a few races this fall, and while I'm not competitive, I'd like to keep up the activity level and finish without pain.

    start weight: 180
    8/18 - 180
    8/25 - goal is down 2 pounds, to 178

Weighed in at 158 on the nose for our initial weigh-in. My goal is to lose 10 pounds by Turkey Day. These are the last few pounds to get to my happy weight  so I know they will be tough ones to shed. I'm looking forward to hearing all of your successes and challenges in the next few months. See you all next week.

I'm in. I've been here since Feb. and have fluxed between the same 4 lbs the whole time. In April, I got pregnant and 6 weeks later, had a miscarriage - so that really put a damper on any weight loss (now before anyone gets all sympathetic, it wasn't a healthy pregnancy and I was absolutely miserable and sick, so things just came to their natural conclusion).

I'm 37, 2 boys (10 & 7) and I've always lost weight really easily.... especially since I lived on nicotine and caffeine. I gained because I quit smoking in December after 20+ years. I haven't been this heavy since I was 13 (and subsequently, my first starvation diet - teens are mean!!!). I'm going to go ahead and say my start weight is 143.0 (AGAIN!). Because the weight has also just slipped off of me and I've never been more than a size 6 or 115, aside from pregnancy weight, I have some psychological battles of acceptance to deal with. I now actually have to WORK at this. I'm not as active as I used to be since I do some research projects for one of my professors from home = sitting on butt and I'm a full-time+ grad student (12 Cr. Hrs. this semester) = sitting on butt.

I need all the help & motivation I can get. It's horrible how my my inner-self continues to stifle this endeavor. For example, I haven't been able to find one of my walking shoes for 2 days now. How do you lose ONE shoe???? In your own house???? (and be over the age of 6!!!). Right. I'm going so far now as to eat things I don't even like just for the nutritional value (cottage cheese... gag). In fact, I'm off to choke some down now... I sure hope the pineapple works. The strawberries barely did it.

This is the perfect group for me! My name is Bonnie, and I'm a 20 year old college student. I lost 13 pounds with MFP last year, but then I went to France and most of it came back :( I'd like to weigh 135 by the end of the semester, and keep it off this time!

I'd like to join if thats alright. I'm leaving for a cruise tho on the 29th so the beginning of this challenge could be kind of ugly lol. Anyway, I'm meagen, I'm 21 years old. I work a part time job where I sit for 10hrs a day (ewww) and I'm a full time student. School starts sept. 23 and believe it or not I'm super excited for school to start. Then I get my gym membership back and the workouts will be on!

I've been on mfp since last march (I think) and when I joined I was at about 142 lbs then I lost 6 lbs but then one week my body went wacko and I gained it all back! I was so mad that I stopped tracking for a while and then next thing I knew I was 152lbs. AHHH! My mom said it was "water weight" at first but then that weight stuck with me for 2 more months and we decided it wasn't water lol. I blame it on my experimental psych class last quarter.... :blushing: So I'm going to attempt to loose 12lbs but I would honestly just like to be back around 140 and stick there, then I'd be happy.

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only fulltime student and employee! It's super tough to find time to work out AND eat right when you're so busy ALL the time!!! It's not to be said that it can not be done, because we all know that it in fact can - it's just super tough! I'm quite glad I found this group on here. I think this is the beginning of great motivation!!!! :flowerforyou:
