Anybody else hate fruit?

Ok, so maybe hate is a strong word for that, but I really don't like it. I know I'm supposed to eat to keep my diet balanced, but it's more like forcing myself to. I could never eat a piece of fruit for the rest of my life and be just fine with it. Suggestions to make eating it little more bearable...without having to douse it in something sugary....

Mehhh I don't think you need fruits to have a healthy diet. Stick with tons of veggies and protein and you should be fine0
-
Have you tried every fruit? If not how can you say you 'Hate' them all0
-
Agree with both of the above posters. And do you enjoy things with fruit in them? Because you can always add fruit to stuff.0

eat veggies instead.0

I can't imagine life without fruit... :sick:0

I am not a fan of anything sweet, fruit included. Eat veggies instead.
And steak.
And bacon.0 -
Who hates fruit? Seriously.0

I don't hate fruit exactly, but I rarely eat it because I always feel hungrier afterward. Weird. Anyway, like others have said, I don't think you necessarily need to force yourself to eat fruit just because you're "supposed" to, provided that your overall diet is balanced and you are getting the nutrients you need from other sources.
Having said that, I'm a firm believer in trying new things, so why not try some fruits you've never had before, or heck, even just try one that you haven't eaten in a while. I try foods that I really do hate every few years just to see if my tastes have changed. I recently discovered that I LOVE 4% large curd cottage cheese, after hating the sight of all cottage cheese my entire life. Obviously cottage cheese is not a fruit, but just an example of how tastes can change.0 -
I've never cared for fruit. And I don't see any real value in eating it. You can get all the nutrients you need from other foods.
Except the occasional pie. Then it is OK.0 -
There are so many different kinds of fruit - they taste different, have different textures... do you dislike all fruit? Some fruits ? Is it the texture? Is it the flavor? You don't necessarily have to EAT fruit... you could make smoothies and DRINK fruit instead...?0
-
You have to try a lot of things more than once if you don't like it immediately. Unless you have a severe aversion to it (textural, etc: and I understand this, because I have some severe food aversions), you can "train" yourself to like at least...many things.

Right? If you are dousing fruits in something sugary I'm assuming you're going with fruits that aren't very sweet which probably means they aren't very ripe. Also, bananas. If I could go my entire life without another banana I'd be super happy because I can't stay away from them. If bananas were crack, I'd be a crack addict.
Edit: RIPE bananas. You know, the nasty, black, disgusting looking things. Take a super ripe, almost bad banana, mash it up in a bowl with cinnamon, freeze it and wait for like an hour or two. Oh god it's good.0 -
My problem with fruit is the prep work involved to eat it! I will eat fruit till the cows come home if it's already nicely cut up for me. Because that doesn't happen very often, I keep a bag of frozen blueberries to stir into my yogurt or to add to my cereal.0

You're giving me dangerous ideas! My vice is watermelon, but luckily it's only in season for a few months out the year so I am forced to add variety to my diet. :P0 -
I love the tropical fruits. Mango, papaya, pineapple, coconut, etc.0
-
Honestly I am not a huge fan of fruit either.0

I'm not a fan of most fruit either. I don't hate it, I just would rather eat vegetables. My husband and I both have fruit allergies, so between the two of us, we keep very little of it at home.0

Don't force yourself to eat anything you hate. Take a multivitamin with one of your meals to help fill in the micronutrient gaps you miss by not eating it and don't worry.
But seriously, fruit is awesome. It's like eating the babies of unicorn trees.0 -
You can get the micro-nutrients you would get from fruit, from veggies instead. Just eat a variety of veggies and don't force the fruit. When I am not pregnant, I eat a very low carb diet due to health issues. Because of this, I can't eat fruit very often at all and I am not missing any of the nutrients that I need.0

Apologize! Apologize, and go wash your dirty mouth.0

I also dislike fruit, because I don't care for anything sweet. And since I live in a semi - tropical country all our fruit are very sweet I still eat two pieces every day ( usually grapefruit), but I make up with vegetables, which I adore. Luckily I eat all of them and often between 7-11 portions a day. I could just like you live easily without eating fruit, but get to be in a bad mood and grouchy, if I have to go more than a day or two without vegetables.0 -
I'm not big on fruit by itself so I add it to things-green smoothies, oatmeal etc.0

PS - how can you not like strawberries, blueberries, apples, oranges, peaches, pears, watermelon, grapes, and bananas? you should check all over your body for an ON/OFF switch... you might be a robot.0 -

........I don't like tomatoes either...or anything with tomatoes/fruit in it....I've been known to simply just go hungry before I will eat it. It's in the house & readily available, and tons of different varieties...try to encourage the kids to eat it...but don't even like fruit pies or smoothies......i'll just eat more broccoli...could live on that & chicken and be perfectly happy :happy:0 -
I don't like much. Apples (honeycrisp, Fuji & granny smith only), red grapes, watermelon, honeydew, strawberries, peaches...that's about it. The occasional banana, but I often feel like I have to choke down the last few bites.0

try a durian

I'm a picky eater and only eat pretty much the same 10-15 foods...
the only fruit i'd eat is apples--namely only washington red delicious apples...
The only vegetables I eat is green beans(canned only), corn (on cob, frozen), or potatoes (idaho or russet only, baked, boiled, or grilled..)..
Everything else can go in the trash IMO.0 -
I only like bananas,grapes,plums... sometimes..... I am a veggie person I love me some vegetables. So I drink those V8 fruit splash.. it does the trick0
