Anybody else hate fruit?

 I was going to suggest durian, too!0

Sometimes I cut up half an apple and add it to my salad.
I joke that I may be the only American with skurvy because I just don't like fruit. I eat it... once or twice a week.....but I'm like you.... I could care less....I prefer veggies and I never really worry about it. Besides, what am I really missing out on? Sugar? I wouldn't worry about it.0 -
try a durian
:laugh::laugh::laugh:
This is only funny if you know what this smells like. Ick.0 -
try a durian
I don't think I've ever even seen one of those things....
went on an experiment for about a month some time ago, mostly for the kids, but for me too, try a new fruit that you've never eaten each week, needless to say, they loved most of them & I ended up spitting most of mine out....0 -
I can't imagine life without fruit...
Me neither. I love fruits, and like everybody else I have some preferences, I like some and I love others. I have 3 to 4 servings everyday. They are my choice of desert for lunch and dinner. Yummy with cottage cheese or greek yogurt.0 -
I am not a fan of anything sweet, fruit included. Eat veggies instead.
And steak.
And bacon.
this
although that being said- I love fruit- but it's more of a treat than a huge aspect of a balanced meal.
Protein, Fats to me are more > betta than carbs and sweets and stuff (well I LOVE the other ones- I just chose to focus on protein and fat because STEAK OMOMNOMNOMNOM)0 -
My problem with fruit is the prep work involved to eat it!
You mean that effort of lifting it out of the bowl and putting it in your mouth?0 -
When I first saw your post I thought you dislike fruit cause your not into sweets. But then you mentioned dousing it in sugar. I am confused. lol0
-
What kinds of fruit have you tried before? I personally like all fruit and enjoy it even more if I blend it. Maybe that will help?0

Pink lady apples by the way- are incredibly sweet.
Give one of those shot.0 -

I've tried several, not just the common super market varieties. I guess what i'm really asking is, do I have to eat it? I don't know enough about nutrition to say that I can go completely without any of it without missing something essential.0 -
You probably don't *need* fruit, but if you want to see if you might like them in another way you could try making smoothies. I really like yogurt + banana + honey + almond together in a smoothie, with maybe a little bit of cocoa powder on top. Lots of protein, calcium, potassium, fiber, and good fats.0

Scurvy is a vitamin C deficiency. You're probably getting enough without eating fruits.
OP, you hate fruit, but eat bananas. What's tasty about bananas for you?
You might want to look into veggies that are biologically fruit, like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, peas, beans, pumpkin, etc.. I certainly eat way more fruit than I thought.0 -
I haven't noticed anyone else saying this specifically, but could it just be that you don't like RAW fruits?
I used to be like that with vegetables - couldn't stand eating any of them raw, but once cooked or added into meals I was fine and loved them. Perhaps it's the same with fruit for you too? For instance, I was never big on pears, but then I had a pear oven-baked with chocolate drizzle on top *drools* and my mind was opened to a whole new way of eating fruits. Even eating them in yogurt instead of by themselves may make the difference you're looking for.
If you really can't stand them, I just wouldn't eat them and leave it at that. You can get the nutrients elsewhere in your diet.
Although I weep for your poor soul
No wait, that just means more fruits for me!  :happy:0 -
I love fruit, but can only eat certain ones as we're pretty sure I'm fructose intolerant (currently on a dr. monitored elimination to find out)... So my favourite fruits like apples, watermelon, cantaloupe... All out
So no, don't hate fruit, just can't eat a lot of it.0 -

I myself like berries the most. Strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, rasberries, ect. I like them more when I blend them in cranberry juice.... so you might want to give that a try.0 -
TS, do you like pizza, spaghetti, or anything else with tomatoes in it? If so, then you do not hate all fruits. I am with the other posters who asked how anyone could hate all fruits?, just wow. I can understand someone not big into eating sweet food, but since you mentioned needing to add sugar, thats not the case. Its no wonder why some people have trouble losing weight and dieting.0

Oh!!! The agony of food prep . . .0 -
I'm with all the posters who don't like sweet things, including fruit. I do eat it though, because an apple is a convenient portable snack.0

Nope ... Sweet Tango apples are where it's at ...
Also, OP needs to get some ripe fruit ... There are plenty of YouTube videos showing you how to pick ripe fruit or how to ripen it at home ...0 -
I don't hate them. I don't love them either really tbh (oh, except berries). I'll have berries and bananas regularly as I like those, don't force myself to have anything else though! Prefer veg in all honesty0
-
Cant stand the texture of it really, but I force myself to eat a banana most days. Oddly I really like synthetic 'froot' flavour things like haribo or skittles, I prefer these sweets to chocolate.
Could all be down to my Scottish upbringing I guess, never really had fresh fruit in the house when I was small, frankly if its not deep fried in batter then I rarely enjoy any food.0 -
fruit wrapped in bacon??????????????? bc everything wrapped in bacon is aaahhhhhhhhhhhhh0
