Baby.

I cannot stand being called 'baby'. It drives me up the wall when I hear other relationship people call each other 'baby'.

What soppy names could you do without when you're in a relationship? Sweetie? Love?

Do you hate it when people you don't know call you lovvie or sweetie?

Note: Keep it clean people, this thread is about the soppy names, not the rude and crude.

I don't generally get too worked up about it. When an older gentleman calls me "honey" or "sweetie" it is simply a representation of a bygone age, and in my mind, a term of endearment.

I don't like being addressed with "yo", although the likelihood of that happening outside of south Philly is pretty remote.

To be honest I kinda dig pet names in the context of a relationship:) My problem is when they're used in a work environment. I'm in a male-dominated field and being called "hun" is so remarkably demeaning in my opinion

I don't mind it if the person saying it is my S/O. However, if we don't have the title, I don't like being called that.

My man calls me Baby, Babygirl, and Muffin. I like all of them :) I don't like it when strangers use pet names condescendingly, but other than that I don't really care.

My Ex called me baby or princess. I don't mind Princess (strangely enough) but HATE baby with a passion!!! He STILL calls me baby and every single time, without exception I say "don't call me baby". Still does. Probably just to annoy me.

Current new man of the moment calls me either by my name or "Sweetie" or "Beautiful", which at present I think is cute. Lets see how long it lasts though!!

    This

I think we use babe, hun, honey a lot in my house. The thing that grates me is when couples have to state the obvious. I have 2 acquaintances whom are always referring each other as their 'fiancé' WE GET IT, YOU ARE ENGAGED!!! :grumble: I get it if you are talking to people that don't know you but people who do? Just use their name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I hate it when people call me pet names like hunni, baby, boo, sweetie, etc. I don't know why, It just bothers me for some odd reason. I just really prefer to be called by my name. Even in relationships, I hate it. Just call me by my name and we're good lol.

    Daughter?

btw, I call people pet names if I'm being condescending. My favorite one is "doll face." Oh, or "angel face."

I like all terms of endearment! Unless it's someone who's just being creepy, but I don't want them talking to me in general...

I don't like endearments in the beginning of a relationship. I learned early on that when a guy only calls you babe, he probably doesn't know your name or doesn't want to mistakenly call you by whatever other girls name that he's also seeing. After this stage passes and I'm confident this isn't the case, I LOVE terms of endearment. Whatever name it is, it makes me feel special.

Pet names within a relationship don't bother me, but I have a coworker who calls me "bud" all the time and drives me crazy!
