You Know, I DO Have A Name !

I'm okay with pet names. But if you're calling me a pet name ALL THE TIME, then it gets annoying. ALSO if you don't know my name, you DO NOT have permission to call me pet names. It's really irritating.

OKAY: Hey, Donyelle, do you mind helping me bring the yoga mats to the spinning studio ? Alright, sweetie, just put them right there in the corner. Thanks hun !

NOT OKAY: Sweetie, do you mind helping me carry the yoga mats to the spinning studio ? Thanks hunny, right there is fine.

I once had an assistant teacher in 5th grade who RARELY called us by our names. All we heard from her mouth is hunny and sweetie. 2nd semester I called her out and it took her a while to stop the habit.

OH AND BOYS ! STOP CALLING ME BABY ! I'M NOT YOUR GIRLFRIEND !

I guess that is the difference between living up north and living in the south Hun! It's a term of endearment here and much appreciated.

Nothing like a guy with a little Southern charm :flowerforyou:

Okay, there's always a first. But I leave you with a bigger question to ponder:

More importantly, what if we just don't care?

Living up north, I considered "ma'am" and "honey" and "sweetie" total insults. Once I moved down south, I realized "welp, better get used to it". Now it doesn't bother me. I guess it's all in the perspective

they're being polite because they don't know your name and don't want to shout "hey lady" at you.

    don't get your jimmies rustled.

Sweet Thing, I’ve noticed people who use pet names in general are happy people.
