I'm from the South and hear this a lot. I'm also used to dealing with construction workers and such, and have worked with all men for the past ten years. Over the years of getting to know their true personalities, for the ones I have encountered at least...it's endearing. They can think of me as sweet and all that good stuff, but at the same time they also know I mean business and I'm damn good at construction managing and such. It's your preference, and that's great and fine. I however, don't mind. Like I said, in the South it's typical, and I think of it as sweet and endearing whether it be from a man or woman. My husband, and most of his friends call me Mama (Short for Hot Mama). I was the first of our friends to have a baby, and so I got the nickname, and I love it! Makes me smile when I hear one of them yell for me. It is hilarious when I am out somewhere random like the store, and I hear a grown man yell Mama! I turn around and sure enough there is one of them barreling down on me for a big o'l bear hug!
