There's a difference between a baggy cotton shirt and PJ pants or yoga pants, and a night gown with or without pajama or yoga pants.

none of those in public. When I see that I really wonder if people have lost their sense of self respect.

None of those with the exception of yoga pants. Not cute, I don't care if you're just going to Walmart.

I wear yoga pants all the time in public. Especially right now when I am spending all day in the library. Sometimes it's worth it to be comfy.
  • Nay. Nay. Nay. No way. Never. Ever. Nope.

Any of these are only acceptable in public if you are over the age of 80 & have gone a wandering...

*Back in 1996 when there was a craze for short satin dresses I did used to go clubbing in a nightie :embarassed:

I used to wear yoga pants out, but I had to stop recently because my husband gave me a hard time for it. Ok, yes they were covered in paint and smelled like turpentine, but I'm an artist! Lots of people go out in their work clothes! But I still keep my "fancy" pair of yoga pants (meaning they're clean and smell normal), that I wear when I'm going on a long trip in the car, plane, or train. They just look like leggings. But I still keep some jeans in my carry on. But I wouldn't do actual pj pants. So my vote would be a nay.

You'd be surprised. In London a few years back a lot of teenagers had a thing for going out in pj's, Ugg's, & dressing gowns

Any lounge clothes other than yoga pants is totally sloppy and inappropriate. And yoga pants aren't even sleep wear, they are workout clothes, so they don't even really apply to the convo. So NAY.
  • I go out in my pyjamas all the time, just throw a parka coat over the top and I'm good to go.
Then again, I'm known to wander around town in all kinds of states of disarray, onesies, pyjama sets, bare feet

I gave up caring about what people thought of my appearance a long time ago

I live in town where going out in one's pajamas is not considered an offense. I'd at least put a sweatshirt on over 'em, though.

Only if it is silk boxers or lingerie.
  • I wore PJ's in public once and it was completely by accident. I was jammied up when my husband said he had to go to staples. I wanted to change and he said no, I could stay in the car. Well, staples is hands down my FAVORITE store so of COURSE I forgot my attire and went in with him.

That was way before any one was wearing pj's in public so I guess I'm a trendsetter LOL.

I have worn yoga pants in public because I was too lazy to change but I really don't make it a habit. I find the look -- regardless of how done up you are and what it's paired with -- to be sloppy. I am also not one who usually wears sneakers with jeans when I go shopping for the exact same reason.

    But that's my personal opinion.

Seriously, why the hell would anybody want to wear pyjamas out in public.

    The end.

I personally, do not give a flying *kitten* what people wear to the store. lol
  • I do pj pants and yoga pants often...I however have not yet stooped to the low of a nightgown. I have also went places in a full camo onesie.
Maybe I am unfit for the public arena? Whoops.

As long as they aren't breaking any indecency laws, why should you care?

Because I'm not worried anymore about what people think I look like if I run out to the convenience store. I used to be 300 pounds and no matter how dressed I was people looked at me with disdain...now, I'm just a cute girl in her jammies.

    Yoga pants - yes
PJ -no - unless you are at Walmart. Apparently it's expected there.
  • Well my pajamas aren't flannel pants or night gowns. I usually wear a tshirt and either shorts (summer) or sweatpants (winter). So I'll sometimes where what are considered my pajamas out in public. Obviously if I'm actually going out somewhere I'll wear put on normal clothes but I have so many tshirts and lazy clothes that I'll wear them in public, but I'll make sure its not ridiculous
