Good evening, ladies! Just popping in to say hi. I've had a VERY busy day! I went to church at 9 a.m. to help with clean-up day and there were enough folks already working in my classroom so I asked the pastor if there was anything else that needed to be done. I got to go shopping with HIS credit card (actually, the church's) and buy items for health/hygiene kits for the homeless. He could not have chosen a better job for me! I had up to $500 to spend, so I called him after I'd purchased the items needed for 100 kits and had spent only $245. He sent me back out to buy more so our youth will pack 169 kits tomorrow afternoon and we still have $100 left over! He and I packed up all of the items into boxes and I did a few more things around the church. Got home after 3:30 p.m. without having eaten a proper breakfast and no lunch. (I was expecting to be gone maybe two hours!) Wolfed down a PBJ and then spent the next 4 hours ferrying my son around town. I took him to visit his grandmother (my ex MIL) and he asked if she would be willing to pay for a gym membership for him. She said yes, so he is now a full-fledged member of Planet Fitness and has an "unlimited" guest list, so I can go with him any time he goes -- for free! I wouldn't go every day, but it would be nice to have some place to go on a weekend to do something different. Then he decided he was in dire need of groceries. I've been to Wal-Mart THREE times today! On a Saturday! I told my pastor that I needed some kind of medal of honor for braving that place today to get supplies for the kits. I never expected to need to go back! So, home, put away the groceries, a session of 30-day Shred, a quick dinner, and then walking in place to get in the rest of my steps. I'm tired!

I was down another .6 lb today! I hope it's one of those times when the numbers drop for 3-4 days in a row.

Off to bed now. Tomorrow is church and then my son is doing sound for an outside group at church during the afternoon, so we have to be back at church at 1:30 p.m. so he can get that set up. I hope he will spend the whole afternoon there between the special event, packing kits, and then regular youth. I need some time to myself. AND, I need to get my laundry done for the week!

    Good night!

Barbie: The Complete Idiot’s Guide to RVing might be just the book for me. I wonder if I can find the book. I wouldn’t want DH to know I was reading it, though. He wants an RV and I’m not so sure it is the right thing for us, so I’m dragging my feet. I don’t want to give him false hope, and I don't want to argue. I have a lot of things I don't want. It sounds really negative when I lay it out.:ohwell:

Meg: If there are promising new treatments for MS, add me to the list you share the news with. DH was diagnosed just a few years ago. He’s been seeing an MS specialist for a little less than a year, and the medicine he is now taking has improved his quality of life much more than we were led to believe is possible. The new doctor was full of optimism, and rightly so.:flowerforyou:

Sylvia: Your pork sirloin sounds yummy.:flowerforyou:

Renny: I hope you have a safe trip.:flowerforyou:

Margaret: I also took the AARP online driving course, and found it very valuable. :flowerforyou:

Anne from the Vancouver BC area: It sounds like you’ve found a good trainer this time. What is an omega?

Michele: My pinterest skills closely resemble yours. I have no idea how to use it.:embarassed:

Alison: I’m so sorry that your FIL is having such bad problems with his health and his care providers.:frown:

Carol in NC: Congratulations on your weight loss. WTG!

Have a good night and stay safe and warm.

    January goals:

    1. Log every bite and swallow.
    2. Focus on fitness: daily cardio plus strength training a minimum of twice a week.
    3. Water: According to an article a friend posted on facebook, drinking water at certain times maximizes its effectiveness on the body. So I’ll try to follow these recommendations:

    * 2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
    * 1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
    * 1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
    * 1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack

Still keeping up on exercise. I took Friday off to recoup, and to rest my backside in particular. I got a little carried away doing the back kicks in Bodycombat, and strained my glute. Ha. It seemed to be better today for my walk with DH today.

Not much going on here. Some days, I feel like the zookeeper taking care of everything and everybody. It sure does fill up a day.

I am about to choke down some water and call it done for now.

    Good afternoon all you beauties!

    Raining here AGAIN!

Skyped my DGS this morning. It's lovely now that at 2 2/3 he can have a proper conversation with the two of us. He told us he was a "Good Boy". Then he told us it was because he was using the potty! Fantastic! At Christmas he was still completely in nappies and now has switched over with no hitches. He was also enjoying the noisy builders who are making a new room in the roof and they had put a flag on the house.

We also had some sad news yesterday. Some of you may remember I was worried about DH'S nephew's baby and had thought, from as far back as June that she could be autistic. It upset me that no one was mentioning the possibilty and it made comminications difficult with DSIL (the granny). Yesterday the mother published on her Facebook a link to the Autistic Awareness society and a photo of a crying child, with the caption, "My child isn't giving me a hard time, my child is having a hard time." I think the chances of this being a random posting are pretty small. My heart goes out to them. The child is now almost a year old and a beautiful little girl.

Margaret - the ice sculptures sound fantastic. You sound like a real culture vulture!:flowerforyou:

Katla - here's wishing you some lovely rain for your area. Drought is not good.

Renny - the hat memorial service sounds perfect. I have told DH I want people to dance st my funeral and I have slready chosen the jolly music including an Irish jig and Klesmer. My main tune is "Enjoy Yourself it's Later than You Think"

Barbie- The lunch memorial also sounds lovely and very moving. I hope everyone will eat well at mine.

Sylvia - so glad your pipes are surviving. The bald eagle sounds fabulous. My DH would so love it!

Anne - your new trainer sounds llike a keeper. Good for you for not putting up with the old one.

OK folks. Have to make some yoghourt and hibiscus drink. I ate the left over haggis for lunch so it's prawns for dinner to compensate for a meat overload. I was extremely abstemious last night so don't think I went hugely over calories. Everybody else tucked in with gusto. We have one salmon roll left each for our afternoon snack.

    Hello friends
I have so many posts to catch up with:blushing:
Mom has left along with one of my sisters, the other one is leaving early tomorrow morning. Although it was fun, I need to get back to my routine which has been hijacked :grumble:
I was very confident it wouldnt happen. Lesson learnt I still have a long way to go:cry:
Atleast got in an hour of yoga this morning.
Running to complete my plan for the coming week and prepare for it. Glancing through a few posts on this page gives me an idea of what most are doing.
    Take care ladies.
Barbie :flowerforyou: love that you are teaching a couple of dances now.

I agree Anamika, lots of posts to catch up on. I did manage to skim quickly and probably remember about 25% of what I read:ohwell:

I do need to take a few minutes later to take a good close look at last week and make the necessary adjustments. I still owe about 20 minutes of cardio to meet my goals. I did FAIR to GOOD on my calories and balancing.

Looks like another stressful and busy week ahead (aren't they all). My mom will have the nerve block procedure on Tuesday morning and possibly have to stay overnight at the hospital. My brother's popping through town for a quick visit/check in while travelling on business late next week. We're expecting still more frigid temps and I'm crossing my fingers that there will be NO school cancellations so I can get my work, housework, workouts, etc. done in the middle of it all.

"My" Zumba instructor's out of town this week so I will settle for Beto and his DVD a couple of times instead of risking an often disappointing replacement. I also love yoga. I used to go to a Zumba class on Thursday afternoon, followed by the perfect yoga class. I lovingly referred to it as "happy hour". Two best hours of my week BY FAR. My yoga instructor moved back to Norway to open her own studio and I haven't been able to find a suitable replacement, with workable timing....but I'm still trying. My SIL is also an instructor and a "good fit" for me but they moved to Iowa a few years back because of my brother's job. Sometimes when they visit I make her "teach".

Sooooo, let's celebrate our victories of the past week, forgive our mistakes and look for our "areas of opportunity".

    Happy Sunday,

:flowerforyou: Katla, here are the things that I liked the most about traveling in an RV:
*sleeping in my own bed every night with my own sheets, pillows, and blankets
*using my own bathroom with my own towels and personal items in the same place all the time
*not having to pack and unpack when going from one destination to another
*doing my own cooking----I lost most of the weight the last summer we had our RV
    *having our pets with us

I know there are a lot of things to not like about having an RV, but most people decide to get one because of the benefits.

DeeDee: in NC: M’s wife was working, and couldn’t come to the brunch. Thank goodness. I would have been so embarrassed if he'd acted that way in front of her. :blushing: He’s a nice man who is having trouble adjusting to an early retirement prompted by his company shutting down. :ohwell: Give the boys a good talking to; they need their instructions for the week.:flowerforyou:

Heather: Sorry to hear that you were right about your DH’s nephew’s baby. I had several gifted children in my classes over the years who were also labeled as “autistic.” Some of them were great kids and hard workers. Others were troubled. I hope the baby in your family turns out to be in the great kids group.:flowerforyou:

Anamika: It sounds like you’re about to get control of your life back. I hope we’ll see more of you.:flowerforyou:

Barbie: Thanks for your “reasons you liked the RV” list. It matches all of the things that DH wants so he can travel comfortably, and is helping me clarify my own thoughts. The reasons I am dragging my feet include having one more thing to take care of, no place to store an RV until our son moves his sailboat out of our storage unit, and being a cheapskate who doesn’t want to spend the money. I’m working hard on being more open-minded and less of a cheapskate. Sadly, it isn't easy.:noway: :ohwell: :flowerforyou:

    Good Morning,

    Drinking water.:drinker:

Heather I just finished the book Look Me in the Eye a story biography of a man who lives with Asperger a form of autism, The Horse Boy is a documentary of a family who travel to Tibet to get help for their son with autism. Both helped me understand better what a person and those who care for him/her with this condition goes through. There is so research out their now that is looking into digestive health of these individuals as an underlying cause. I wish I had known more of this when I was teaching full time. I did have autistic children in my classroom. In terms of education using an I-pad is a great tool for working with students with autism.
    I like that culture vulture.
My DH is into soccer in the US and is curious which Football team do you support?

Anamika glad you had such a lovely visit with mom and sisters.

Katla the AARP I took was also online. I liked it because I could take it at my own pace. There were eight units. I would do at least one to two units at a time because there was a quiz after each unit and a final test at the end. Info for anyone considering taking it. You do get a 10 percent savings off your car insurance for most policies. Check with your agent.

Carol your day made me tired too. You deserve a rest.

Anne glad you found a trainer that is a better fit for you.

The ice sculptures are part of our annual two week Winter Carnival celebration. It was started as a way to convince others that St. Paul was a fun place to be in the winter. This winter is particular we need all the fun we can get. Getting ready for church. Choir doesn’t sing today, so I am off to 10:30 service
    Goals:
    Limit TV/computer
    Communication/contentment
Life is too short for a bad cup of coffee.:drinker:

Well let's just say I browsed through all the posts. Lots of victories and wonderful attitudes.

I had quite a vice grip type headache last night. I eventually rolled over, took a Lortab and turned my alarm off that was going to get me up to go to church:sad: headache is finally gone but I feel so, so draggy. maybe some of it is because I feel so bad about missing church. I so wanted to get in a good habit about it. I will go this evening to their 7 PM service.

my youngest wants to try Applebees tonight. they have an interesting under 550 calorie menu. The sodium is a little high but my other meals usually pretty low. After filling in bedtime snack, which I consider my mini meal, lunch and supper I have quite a few calories left over, no protein or sugar left in the diary. There are two different fruits in the diary which do raise that natural sugar up which Doc says is OK, not to worry. But I need some more calories, like about 300.

Not much to say today, mind isn't alert enough to say or think it.

Hi girls. I’m checking in a little early today. We went to church (our turn to serve communion) and came home to read the paper. DD#2 has dinner in the oven…baked chicken…yum with stuffing and a marinated veg salad. Plus we’ll have frozen corn. I’ve had this bag of corn in the freezer for about 3 months now, so time to use it up. It’s overcast today but in the 40s. Later the winds are kicking up to around 50 mph. Tonight’s low will be -8 so the wind chill tomorrow morning will be grand LOL.

Today I am thankful for my church that has supported me and doesn’t judge us for not going every week LOL! Some days I just need to sleep.

Renny: I think it’s just wonderful when someone dies and the memorial service brings them to life through pictures and stories. I remember when my mom died we had her senior HS picture on the wall. She looks just like Ava Gardner with lighter hair. The minister said we shouldn’t think about the old lady in the casket, wrinkled, used up…..We should look at her picture and remember her when she was a hot young lady. That brought smiles to everyone there.

Margaret; when we were worried about dad driving, my brother turned him into the state and he had a mandatory driving test. The tester physically had to put him in the car, physically take him out of the car, and gave him the answers to the written portion…AND passed him. We were so disappointed.

Anne: glad the personal trainer will work out for you! The old cat used to take tapazole too. We used to just put it in his treats at night, but near the end we coated it with “calorie boost” and put it on the roof of his mouth, then immediately gave him cookies. It worked really well.

Joyce & Katla: I have heard about some stem cell work that actually causes the damaged areas of the brain to repair themselves, or rather the stem cells turn into those cells. The news story I saw last about it said it’s probably 5 years out for a treatment…it’s still in testing.

Michele: I pack the same way you do, only I put all my stuff on the guest bed and keep looking at it. If I try to pack the night before or even 2 nights before, I forget about half the stuff I need.

Carol: Walmart on a Saturday!!!!! You do deserve a medal. GAAAAAA that gave me the shudders!

DeeDee: I just sent that chapter off…yay!!!!! I kept waking up last night thinking “what else can I write questions on????”. Benny
Beagle is doing fine except he piddled in the house yesterday. None of us is sure when that could have happened. One of us was with him all day as far as we can figure. I think I told everyone the diaper idea didn’t work either…he just takes it off and last time he hid it.

Heather: I love what you daughter posted. So many people look at children like that and think they have behavior problems or the parents are a mess, when the child would probably give anything to not be that way. Blessings to her parents and to you. I hope she starts with all the therapies. They can make a huge difference.

Anamika: visitors are fun but they do make a mess of your routine. I am glad you got a nice long visit with them.

Gloria: I too need to look back and see what worked and what needs tweaking. Weekends are the worst. I need to plan them better so I am not exercising right before bed like last night!

Jane: glad to see you posting!

All the talk about the RVs makes me remember an RV trip I took with my parents in the early 90s. It was a “consolation prize” for getting divorced. We spent two weeks in it and traveled through the west. It was awful. My parents argued the whole time, I had to sleep on the “dining room” table, and when we got back to their house (in Arkansas), they had been hit by lightening and their power was off. Their insurance company would pay for everything of course, but even would pay for the food in the refridgerator if it was inventoried. OMG Guess who got that job??? I suggested they just make up a list of what they usually had, but noooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Not only did I have to inventory it, I had to put down how much was left (i.e., Hunts catsup, 18 oz bottle, ¼ left). UGH. When I opened the fridge a swarm of black flies and gnat-things flew out at me like a horror movie. The smell was unbelievable. AND they wanted me to clean it so they could use it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No way. I inventoried, but that was it. Reminds me of some of the “Hoarder” shows I’ve seen!!!!!

Well…now it’s time to eat dinner LOL. I need to color my hair and do my dragon nails today too. Take care all, Meg from weird-weather Omaha

Happy Sunday from cold Nebraska where the wind is blowing again today. It is my weekend to work so not out in the cold for long.
I was not really good logging my food this last week, so hope I don't gain when I weigh in on Tuesday morning.I just finish my food log for yesterday and I went way over. Not good-- today going to log before I eat. Keep better track. I am not sure if I am having stress eating or just feeling sorry for myself eating. Know I have to get back on track and sooner the better. BS are down so that is good.Last Wednesday evening I did acouple things just for me. I got my hair cut and put in a color. I went with a darker color which is more my natural color and I do like it. Then we have a lady in our CMA group that works in a nail saloon so Thursday I went and had my nails done. She did something called slacken and it uses my own nails. I do like it. Feeling spoiled. My goal for today is to catch up on this thread.
Friday evening DH and I went to an hockey game with a guy he works with and his wife. I had not been to one for years and did enjoy. They went into over time and then had a shoot out. Not sure about all that but enjoied the evening. It was cold in there so DH went and brought me a sweat shirt. I asked him to get 2x as that is what I have been buying and it is big. So that was a great NSV. I really need to sort my closet out and get rid of all the 4 and 3x's. Maybe this next weekend.

Heather--Congrates on getting your trip booked. Sounds like you got a good deal and going to have alot of fun. Sounds like your DH is a keeper also. Sounds like they maybe coming to terms with the baby and just starting to let people know. Prayers to them and you.

Alison--How terrible for your DSIL. Hugs and prayers for you both. I do not understand why some people feel the need to steal and then destory it. Glad to hear Sean is doing better. I do hope things go well for him when he is home. How terrible for FIL would it do anygood to make another report?

Jane--prayers for you and your friend. Your dad sounds like my DH grand father. He would drive all over the town they lived in. He would not let anyone help with his finances. He went and paid the electric bill 3 times in one week. Finally one of the boys went and took a part off the car so it would not start. It worked and kept him from driving. I can see the picture of you driving all in red, made me smile. Thanks. Sounds like we may have the same color shoes. I love bright things and trying to use them more, get away from blacks.

Pat--I so know what you mean about showers and birthday partys. My DGS had his 4th birthday party at this place called the Party Hut. They have jump houses and games for the kids and then pizza and pop. I asked my DS what it cost and he said for 12 quests it was $115. That is crazy!!! My DH is turning 60 the first of March and I am having an open house at the church from 2-4 serving cake, nuts, coffee and punch. I told the kids if they feel the need for anything more they can do it. Does that show my age or what!!

Connie--Sounds like DH is a keeper. They can surprise us at times!

Joyce--that woman sounds like areal !!!!. When my biological dad passed his wife gave all his guns to her three sons, I did get his sweater(not sure how that happened) and I wear it sometimes and makes me feel safe. Anyway that is to bad that she did not give you a chance to have something.

Amanda--sure hope you are feeling better. Hugs to you!

Liz--Have you talked to your doctor about your spells? Please do and becareful.

Margaret--We had to put a new furnance in just acouple months ago. New one is so much less noise and I keep checking the vents to make sure it is working. Looking forward to see if bills are lower. Good Luck on yours.

Sue--I think it was good news no cancer, but not sure what that other was. Glad you are getting it all checked out. Take care of yourself.

ozgirl1981--Welcome. I had my teeth pulled about 6 years ago. I have found the pads work best keeping mine in. I am having problems right now as I have lost enough weight they are to big. Who would of thought that would happen. Anyway I am not buying new ones until I am at goal which is still about 50 pounds. Anyway I have found these pads work so much better then the paste. Good luck!

Sandy-sorry to hear your are not feeling well. Hope you feel better soon and in the meantime take care of you!

Renny--Safe trip and how speical to wear a hat to honor your friend. Seems every year when I go have my pap done they have a different height. But I am around 5-2 and can live with that. Like I have a choice lol!

Tina-congrates to DH on the new job. I do not do well with change, even if it is for the better.

Syliva--Hope all is well at the cabin. What a mess. I hope the pipes are ok and working.

Barbie--The celebration dinner is a neat idea. On K-love the other day a lady was talking about a party they had for her mom last summer when she was still able to enjoy it and then she passed acouple months later. Lady said it was the best thing she could of done.

Anne--Great news about new PT, sounds like he knows what he is doing and cares about his trainness. Good Luck!

Well I am up to date. I think I am glad I am at work this afternoon as DH came for lunch and last evening we bought one of those fake fireplace unit that you can put your tv on. When I left for work this morning he had all the parts out of the box and all over the floor. Sounds like him and DS were working on it all morning. I just hope it is done when I get off work and he will be relaxing. He is to go over to the Vets home this afternoon as our CMA group is doing Bingo with the residents. We try and do that acouple times a year and have a good time. It is funny as most the guys in our group wear the leather when they ride and some of the female residents get so excited.
    Blessed!

Hi ladies, I ended back at work today. One of our gals was sick so I needed to come in, which is fine as Jim was busy with teaching a silver casting class yet today.

Renny - I am sorry you are shrinking... age does it to all of us. I went from 5'9" to 5'7".. Really notice it now around the tall grand sons :ohwell:

Ozgirl. Both DH and myself have dentures. He has had his since high school, and me when I was in my late 40's.. Both of us have to use the temporary reliner that you can get a Wal Mart that lasts a few monthes each. (you mix it and pour it on the denture), but that helps so much. I cannot bite into an apple, but can corn on the cob and most everything else. Hope that helps! :flowerforyou:

Meg: Yummy Butternut squash! We fix it with some meat in the bulb area like a meat loaf mix. Makes a yummy meal.

Katla : We are looking into a pull along trailer and not an RV. We love the Trail Manor's and are thinking of getting one for our traveling to Rock and Gem shows for selling our jewelry.. They are really light, but very nice inside. The downside of that is we would have to go to the Colorado Springs area about 400 miles away to get one.... But it would be worth it. These trailers are amazing and can be towed with a SUV.

Barbie: So glad your are still doing and loving your line dancing - it has got to be great exercise!

Vicki in Ne: great NSV... smaller size and bigger shirts make one feel like you have made a big accomplishment! Good for you! :drinker:

I will have tomorrow and Tuesaday off.... and need it! I have to catch up with all my Mary Kay before our meeting .. lots to do and the house is a disaster..... baby steps.... lol:ohwell: Will pop in tomorrow, and finish tallying my food intake today.

    to all, Connie

Marking my place on this 3rd section! Wonderful weather earlier today, sunny and sweatshirt warm, but now cold, wind and ice pellets out there! Enjoyed watching and hearing the eagles outside all morning and early afternoon, while I cooked chicken vegetable stew.

Meg: Thanks for the news about stem cell possibilities for MS. We’ll just have to hang in there for about 5 years. Maybe there will be testing that DH & Joyce can get involved in. We’d sure be disappointed if DH was in the placebo group, though.:frown: We'd be disappointed if it really helped people, anyway. I am so sorry your parents chose to “help you” though your divorce with a forced road trip followed by the refrigerator from the black swamp. I’m sure it motivated you to go out and rescue yourself.:flowerforyou:

Connie: I sent the link on the Trail Manor Travel Trailer to DH. I’d like to see one inside, in person. I have seen them out on the road and wondered about them.:flowerforyou:

This has been a slow day. I know I’m starting to beat this cold, but I’m still really low on energy and haven’t actually done much.:flowerforyou:

No,we decided to get out of camping.Mom was in a nursing home & I wasn't comfortable leaving her. Then

I had several surgeries & being close to my Drs was where I needed to be.We had done so much traveling & our home
Seemed so comfy,we hated to leave. Just before the economy went South,we traded it for a Honda & never looked back.

    BTW,it's fun being spoiled.
