What do you sneak into the cinema?

then maybe places should have more offerings that are food allergy friendly?
i'm one of those people who dont really have a problem with the price but with my gluten allergy there really isnt much i can eat at a theater. And i also used to work at a theater, so dont say popcorn. i know for a fact the "butter" has wheat in it
Are you gluten intolerant or do you have Celiac disease? I have Celiac. However, I am asymptomatic if I eat things with a small amount of wheat in it or traces of wheat. However, I can't eat a roll of bread, for example.
But theatre popcorn? I can totally do that. And I get extra butter. In fact, I ask them to layer the butter. Put a little popcorn, squirt some butter, put a little more popcorn, then another layer of butter. Yeah, it's really bad. LOL. But I feel no guilt! I enjoy a small popcorn, extra butter, small coke. I also like Milk Duds from time to time.
But *usually* I don't eat anything from the theatre. If hubby and I go out to see a movie, we usually eat dinner first. Nom.0 -
Nothing since we usually eat at home or at a restaurant before we go to the film.0

i sneak in fiber one brownies, special k pastry crisps, and quaker rice cake minis, i like ranch and caramel flavors...0

turkey sub. sometimes i sneak in a chicken parm sub instead.0

Soda or wine. If I'm in a wine mood. But I like movie theater popcorn so I buy that. I might have to try the popcorn you guys are recommending though.0

this makes me sad. I help out at a small theater and people that sneak things in seriously hurt a theater. you have no idea how much money they don't actually make. you think they get to keep that ticket money? NOT.... the Film houses and Distributors like Paramount, Fox, WB,SONY, Disney they all take a % of the ticket sales right off the top sometimes even charging rent on the film that literally leaves the theater in the red unless they can make it up on concessions. Sometimes its REALLY Hard to make a profit on movies like that.
As for our popcorn... There is nothing better. Its from a local grower and popped fresh Every Showing.
I know this, but i still resent paying 4 bucks for bottled water and 7 bucks for a small popcorn. They need to think up other ways to make revenue.0 -
Previously some kind of KFC -_- + sweets + popcorn + whatever else I can manage to stuff in my mouth.
Now its Tyrrells Salt and Sweet Popcorn.

Booze
Another vote for alcohol! :drinker:0 -
I love going to the movies, I don't go as often now since I got laid off work, but when I did... I'd get the cheese sticks, or the sugar cinnamon pretzel, sometimes popcorn (made fresh at out theater Harkins), blue powerade (but they don't have it anymore and now I'm out of luck, though they say they got a low cal lemonade but I've not seen calorie information).
However since I started eating differently and watching calories I sometimes take in cereal, like corn pops, or honeycomb. I portion it in a zip lock bag and take that in with some water.
I used to take in personal size Peter Piper Pizza's, KFC, tried Chinese takeout out but too troublesome.0 -
I went to see The Hobbit the other day..I snuck in an apple and a Snickers bar. I bought a drink there. It was actually a delicious snack! The only thing I was worried about was crunching the apple loudly..haha!
I've snuck just about all types of food into the theatre..I think I snuck a Subway sandwich in once.
When I was a teenager, the movie theatre in the mall (the town's only one) was right beside a bulk food store that sold candy, among other things. We would go see Lord of the Rings with our backpacks BULGING full of candy. Good times for nerds.
EDIT: One of these days I am going to sneak booze into the theatre. I have to get a flask..0 -
So about 10 years ago I worked at AMC. What I didn't know it until I worked there but they had a policy that you could bring in any food you wanted (they reversed this policy like three years ago and you are no longer allowed too). We had a pizza shop and a chinese take out place next door. It was wild to see people bringing in large pizza and generals chicken to the movies, but it was allowed.
Weirdest thing ever, we got a complaint in a movie theater about a noise complaint. This guy had smuggled in his pet bird into the movie theater and it was chirping everywhere. I was in a small cage he smuggled in under the trench coat. People are crazy.0 -

There is one small theater in my area that I do not sneak food into because the cost of the tickets is lower and the food is reasonably priced, but the last time I took my 2 teenage kids and myself to a movie and bought a large popcorn and sodas for them and small popcorn and a bottle of water for me I was out nearly $65! I do not believe the large theaters are not making a huge profit on their concession stands and do not feel the least bit guilty about sneaking something in so I can treat my kids to a movie now and then. As it is, the tickets alone are nearly $35 for 3 adults in my area, so we are lucky if we get to go once every 6 months.
Yep, this is me, too. I have no problem buying food at the theater if I'm not paying $11 for my tickets.
I understand larger theaters are really raping people. Out adult ticket price is $7 and $5 for kids. a Large popcorn is $5 and gets free refills.
This is matinee pricing for our Regal and AMC theaters. Since I get off work at 3:30, we can go to the matinee, but the food is still ridiculous at AMC, but not so bad at Regal. I like the Regal better than AMC also for the fact that the crowds are much smaller. Our Regal is inside a casino, so most folks are dropping their kids at the Regal and headed to the casino floor.0 -
a popcorn box with a hole in it.
Yessssss! But honestly, our teenagers are generally with us, so none of that. :laugh:0 -
A bottle of water.
I don't like eating at the movies. The sound of wrappers pisses me off, and crunching of popcorn...grr. Needless to say, I don't go very often.0 -
Yup, the "burrito" response definitely got a laugh out of me, but I would probably do that too.0

I cut up an apple into slices (put it in a ziplock bag in my purse) - and a small bottled water.0

Angies Boom Chicka Pop Popcorn. Its so yummy..and only 35 cals a cup. i got my BF HOOKED and he doesnt even "diet"...when we ar ein th emood, we will go by walgreens or something and get the boxed Junior mints.. 3 for $4.00 versus the theatres $6.00 a box. Apples & Cheese slices are a good choice too!0
-
I usually grab a box of Jr. Mints or Raisinetts and a bottled water. I adore theater popcorn, but try to stay away from it.0
-
Beer and a water bottle. I brought Chinese one time, the entire theater smelled like orange chicken!0

dark chocolate, apples with cinnamon, or if the movie is during a time where I usually eat a meal I just bring my food in!0
-
Nothing. I go there every week, sometimes more than once so I make it my habit not to eat anything at the cinema.0
-
Berries, raisins or nowt. I also go weekly and I'm trying to get out of the habit of associating the cinema with food.
I always take in water though. Balls to paying £1.80 for 500ml.0
