Thanks springlering62,
I had a health crisis midway through 2024, and I came to terms with changes I needed in my life. I started listening to people who cared for me more than I did at the time: family, friends and doctors. Here's what has been working for me this year:
- I gave up alcohol.
- I was prescribed a GLP-1 and started taking it.
- I started monitoring my weight, BP and Glucose every day, sometimes more than once a day.
- I joined a wellness program through my health insurance company.
- I worked with specialists in diabetes, hypertension and nutrition and took their advice.
- I started logging my foods and exercises in MFP. I focus my tracking on protein, fiber and calories.
- I started walking, almost every day. I couldn't do more than 0.5 mile at first, but I gradually was able to walk up to 1.5 miles in a single walk.
- As my weight loss accelerated, I started to feel weakness and joint pain. My doctor recommended weight training to strengthen my core and combat the muscle mass associated with rapid weight loss.
- I joined a gym and booked a few sessions with a personal trainer to get an idea of the exercises I needed most.
Overall, I focus on consistency, not perfect adherence to everything that got me here. I've still got another 40lbs to go, but even as the weight loss slows down, I am encouraged by my success so far and that gives me hope that I will hit my goal by the end of 2026.
To those here on a similar journey, keep the faith! Persistence pays off. I'm living proof.
Be well.

that's awesome. I started on GLP-1 back in Aug. Down a little over 20 pounds. I have major back issues and struggled with my weight because of it. I finally feel better. Still got 30-40 to go.

Nice work! The GLP-1 helps, but if I don't do the things I need to, I won't see as much benefit as I'd like. Keep it up!

You're 100% right. because of my back, getting sick and the holidays I haven't been to the gym in over a month. So I hit a stall. So, back to the gym today and back to tracking food.

I really like that, when the flip switched, you took advantage of every opportunity to help yourself.

Dear All,
I lost 14 KG, from 92KG to 77.5 but I gain 5 KG back. I am standing at 82.5KG.
I want to reach to 72KG first and then my goal weight of 69KG. I need motivation and suggestion from you how to restart

Hi Nasim,
Think about the things that challenge you and the things you need to control (total calories, between meal snacking, carbohydrates, sweets, etc.) Focus on one thing first, and do your best to stick to that today and each day for the next few days. Then you can add in other things on your list. I shoot for a narrow focus and persistent progress when I find myself moving in the wrong direction on the scale. After a few days of progress on my path, I widen my focus a bit more to controlling other things. I find this gets me back on track. I hope it can help you too.
Hang in there! The struggle is real, but the community is there to support us with feedback.
