I've seen a few threads around here asking if anyone as lost weight not eating clean and most of the answers are yes but as anyone lost body fat not eating clean? I hear that to lose weight all you need as a calorie deficit but to lose body fat you'll need to eat clean

I could point you to several regular posters who have done this very thing. but I suspect they'll be along shortly.
Incidentally, how is "eating clean" being defined for the purposes of this particular thread?0 -
It's just that for years I've always heard people say ''To lose body fat you gotta eat healthy'' and I was just curious to see if that was true0

Where's Jonnythan when you need him?0

We just had this thread! It's going to roll soon though.

I read a post where if you eat healthy and don't enjoy it - you won't stick to it. It also said as long as you eat the right amount of calories, you'll be fine. I don't eat as healthy as I should - but I have try adding more fruits and veggies. I don't know if it's the correct way to lose, but it's been working for me. Good luck on your weight loss journey!!0

i eat whatever I want as long as it fits into my macros for the day. Eating Peanut butter toast and a banana right now actually. lol0

Other than the fact I don't like peanut butter or bananas. I second this!0 -
Yes, I've lost 65lb's of body fat, and gained quite a bit of muscle from eating ice cream, pizza, and whatever else I like. I think you can view my before and after pics on my profile. ))0

Check out the IIFYM threads on here. Plenty of people on here who've eaten "dirty" and lost weight, myself included.0

"Clean eating" means different things to different people, so it's really all a matter of perspective, food preferences, and beliefs about eating. For example, I had a jr. bacon cheeseburger and chili for lunch yesterday, and I consider myself to be a lean, mean, clean eating machine.0

I eat a lot of unhealthy foods. I used to have at least 35% body fat and now I'm at 22% body fat.. Within a year. lol.
I eat a lot of string cheese, pizza, french fries, fruit loops, vanilla frosting, jolly ranchers/suckers, etc... I am very picky and hate most fruits/vegetables.....0 -

"Healthy" and "clean" are concepts taht are not particularly well-defined, are interpreted differently by everyone, and (most importantly) OFTEN DO NOT MEAN THE SAME THING.0 -
Yep I have. I've lost 28lbs and my body fat % has gone from over 30% to 21%. I have some sort of chocolate every day, I have pizza once or twice a month. I do eat healthily but not all the time. If it's too restrictive you won't stick to it0

Come to think of it, when I was younger, (before having kids) I lost a lot of weight by eating fast food almost daily, and drinking lots of beer, although I wasn't really trying to lose weight. It was just my first time being out on my own. I also didn't exercise. LMBO!!!0
-
Yes. Since I don't have any 'forbidden foods' I tend to make healthier choices but sometimes I'll have a cupcake or a piece of candy, even pizza. I lift weights and exercise so that my body doesn't get rid of muscle, at least not much. I eat to my goals.0
-
Yah I've gone down about 7-8% points without eating "clean"0
-
Try IIFYM (If it fits your macros). It's great and a whole lot more flexible and enjoyable then eating clean 100% of the time.0

Eat "good" or "clean" or "healthy" (whatever those words mean to you) 80% of the time. Fit yummy, portion-controlled treats into your calorie goal. Deprivation can lead to binges.

I've lost a little weight eating a variety of foods, including pizza, ice cream, and cookies.
Here's a recent blog I wrote to give you some better perspective:

I usually don't shower before I eat and eat what I like as long as it fits my allotment for the day. Throw some strength training into your exercise to ensure that the weight you are losing is more fat than lean mass.0

Yesterday I had both KFC and Taco Bell. Sunday I had pizza for breakfast, Chinese food for lunch, and McDonald's for dinner (with a giant Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pie for dessert).
I'm actually bulking instead of losing weight right now, but a typical losing weight day looked like this: oatmeal and protein powder for breakfast, Subway for lunch, McDonald's or Taco Bell for dinner, and a small bowl of ice cream for dessert.0 -
Sadly I can not really show any progress pictures as it's friggin' difficult to post a picture here. However, it did definitely work for me.
On topic: While I don't avoid healthy stuff I certainly don't eat the way people would consider as "clean". By now I've lost about 13lbs over the course of 15 weeks or so (Christmas turned out to be horrifying ) and I don't think I've lost significant amounts of muscle mass.0 -
No clen eatin' here.0

Dropped lbs's on lb's of fat before bodybuilding eating fresh bakery goods daily (lived 2 minutes to a pastry shop).
It's all about calories, don't let anyone else tell you different.0 -
I still eat what I did before, including McDonalds breakfasts, I love em :$ and I've lost 6 pounds in my first week.
I just know now when to stop, when I need to burn some off and how to spread it out during the day, Its so easy having a number to work with.0 -
From August until now I went from 26.8% body fat to 22.4% body fat (that's pretty good, IMO).
I eat whatever I want; I try to follow IIFYM, but don't always succeed - my goals are 100 g protein, 44g fat, 200 g carbs. (I tend to be over on fat and not quite enough protein, lol). But I certainly have never tried to eat "clean" by any stretch of the definition. I eat fruit. I eat veggies. But I also love my ice cream, pizza, and sushi. Oh, and chocolate and diet coke. I lift heavy 2-3 times a week, and am moderately active in general with 4 kids.
I've been pretty lazy about tracking, so I know I've gone over calories quite often. But I've still lost body fat and even a few pounds overall. I've gone down 2 pants sizes, too.0 -
