I also just want to say good luck on your strength training. I do think it will help to get advice or info online or from books (possibly from the library) just to make sure you are strengthening and not injuring. There has been a lot of good recommendations in here such as: You Are Your Own Gym. He has info on a website (http://www.marklauren.com/) and also a newer book out now for women called: Body By You. And Nerd Fitness. Another good one is The New Rules of Lifting for LIFE (deals with injuries). I like Strong Curves (bretcontreras.com) which talks about injuries and has body weight plans and many variations (also using bands). I'm glad you shared and reached out to the community here.

Now what do I have to do all this with no room, not a whole heap of money to spend & without stepping foot in a gym?
It's probably this sentence that people interpreted as a request for help or advice!
Like I said...I'm sorry I ever doubted it..... but why didnt someone warn me that my back would hurt more now than it did before? Like really my back is so bad now that I almost wish I'd had the epidural into it.
As someone who has a multitude of back issues please take advice that if you are in a world of pain you are either doing the wrong things, trying to progress too fast, too heavy or wrong range of motion for your current condition.

Take it slowly and build up. Prioritise your core strength. I've been under "final warning" for major surgery for eight years and four years ago I was on constant meds and tearing disc capsules washing the car or even getting out of bed in the morning.

Now I'm back to about 90% of my lifetime best for strength and (mostly!) able to live a normal life (including sporting life) with a few mishaps when I've got a bit carried away!
But it has taken four years of steady and progressive work - be patient.
The gym ball for me was the key to making a start back to health BTW.

As much as I would love to help I just remember you being needlessly mean and contentious in thread after thread so I can't bring myself to do it this time. Congratulations on finding the joy of resistance training and I wish you good health.

Funny I didn't ask for help. Did I? I didnt ask for advice, help or anything actually.

All I did was make a post saying sorry it took me so long (basically) to get to strength training. I don't have to explain anything or ask for anything. I got this MY way.

ummm you posted a thread asking for advice on strength training, so you did ask for advice….

Actually the thread is FItness & exercise. Where does it say advice? I did not once ask for advice at all.
OP - if you really want to strength train I recommend joining a gym so that you can lift heavy using compound movements, or getting the equipment to do this at home = barbell, bench, power rack, dumbbells…

Sorry I guess that part about not a heap of money, also no room at home to have equipment was totally gone? Nope I still see it on the opening post.

I didn't ask for anything. I was more proud of the fact that with the little things I do have I took the initiative (with my Dr's guidance) to do this.

Sorry that I also dont have the money for back specialists or physios. I guess that's what happens when the people who caused your injury think you are all cured cause you can walk & lost weight so they stop paying for all medical.

Oh wait...was that me explaining myself.

Nah next time I'll just hope that nobody else is just as proud about themselves as I WAS. Perhaps not now, I feel like more of a failure thanks to some in here. Oh well. You can all move on to the next target. I'm no longer sorry for anything.

    I'm in Australia/Melbourne too.

I'm sorry that due to to your marathon walking and weight loss success you've had your medical payouts stopped, but going to see a Dr and a Physio cost the same amount.

Not on a payment, physio is $70 a 30min session. Dr costs me $0.

    OK then.

As I mentioned in my first post. You should 'probably' avoid some dynamic kettlebell swings, depending on where/why your back is injured.

I know you don't want my advice. That's just my opinion.

    Carry on.

    I don't do that anyway.

If you have a low income health care card you should be able to get 6 physio sessions paid for by Medicare . If this applies to you , ask your doctor about it. They will need to set up a treatment / management plan that fits the guidelines.
