Forgot to mention a great place for swim wear. When I bought a tanking, wasn't impresses. Some swim shorts & tops will ride up.

I went to the one piece suit because we move a lot in water aerobics. This company uses great fabric! Have a couple pieces from 5 yrs ago that looks like new.

Last yr I got a suit from Kohls that changed color in a few wks! No more.Don't like spending the $$, but these are worth every penny.

:flowerforyou: Jb, I told Jake about your fire extinguisher and wonderful note and he gave it two thumbs up….you are a very fortunate woman.

 My favorite walking friend is back in town so we were able to meet and walk for 90 minutes this morning.

 I ate no candy for Valentine’s Day. One of my line dance students gave me candy and I brought it home to Jake to eat for me……he was delighted.

 Welcome to all who are new….please come back every day and join in the conversation.

Yesterday was a bad day - stress eating with a sick car and too much snow. But today is another day, so will just start once again.

Alison - I'm with you! Let's visit Gail in Jamaica now please:glasses:  Ben to Jamaica a few times and really do like it there, especially on the southern coast around Treasure beach.

I forgot to mention the best part of my morning!! Including my 3/10 lb yesterday, I've lost 1.5 lbs this week! I'm set to lose only one pound per week, but I'm not complaining. AND, I tried on a goal dress and pants and I can wear both of them out of the house if I want to! They will fit better with a few more pounds gone, but it's exciting nonetheless! It's getting time to head to Goodwill for another goal piece of clothing.

    Hi everyone,

It's great to catch up on your notes. I am fairly new here so getting to know you all. Thanks for your encouragement. This is my second go round with weight loss. I lost 100lbs about 10 years ago but it found me and brought almost 20 friends with it. This time its going to be a life change not crash diet.
So this week was rough, breast biopsy not fun but results good. Worked hard on resisting overeating from the stress. Working in Hospice I know all too well what cancer can do to you. Only 1 more biopsy and a colonoscopy to go and I will be done.

I seem to be doing pretty good during the week but the weekends are tough. I kind of walk around the kitchen and cant figure out what to eat. I try to keep a water bottle in my hand so I don't start grazing. My new outlook on food seems to be having some effect on my daughter. She has signed up for MFP and is starting to ask about food, good vs bad. I tread lightly here she is so sensitive about her weight, looks, clothes you name it. I can say something that I think is so innocent and she is stomping up the stairs crying. ugh! But she used to be a cutter when younger. I worry so much about her. She is my last little bird left in the nest.

Ok so I really don't like water and have been using Mio for flavor. Any comments? good or bad about the product?

Please go ahead and friend me so we can encourage each other throughout the week!

    :flowerforyou:
all the best to my fellow MFP's

I don't think this is my group, BUT I have been so encouraged by reading your posts. I have even created a Word document with some of them so I can look at them when I feel discouraged or need a new idea to jump start my attitude. I am currently in cheating and overeating" mode. I ate 1/2 a can of Planters nut-trition mixed nuts before bed! I am doing self-sabotage. I didn't log it. :frown: I am committed to healthier eating and do mostly stay within my calorie goal and have reached one mini-goal and am 60% to the next one. Can't motivate myself to get to water walking. :embarassed: Thanks for sharing your lives! Hi to al the other PNW members!

:flowerforyou: Stephanie - I DO think this is your group. Welcome to you. Getting fit and healthy is a one day at a time journey. You will find lots of encouragement here and also great strategies. I wish you well. :drinker:

I had my hair cut this morning. Always feels good. Later today and tomorrow a windstorm is supposed to hit our area. It would be too bad to lose power. However, I've got candles handy, and fortunately we have a wood fireplace.

It took me a long time to get over jetlag and actually I still feel tired. Slowly but surely I am weeding through the bookkeeping and paying bills. So I better get back to it, because I likely won't be able to do a thing the coming week.

    Take care,

Happy Saturday! We are having a heat wave the next couple days--up in the 50s. It is my weekend to work so will not be able to enjoy it much, but gives me hope Spring is not far off. My goal for today is to read and hopefully catch up. Talked with mom last evening and they got dad all settled into the rehab and he seems to be fine with it. But he is more alert and wanting to do things and have his phone. All good signs. I did buy a joural and start writing while I was sitting in the hospital. I admit I did feel better. I just have to get over the fear someone will read it.

Alison--I am behind but just read about your gain. You have been having alot of stress and I know when you get back on your schedule you will lose it. Just take care of you.

Jane--I agree I am a stress eater and lately it does not take much and seems I think about eating alot. Have to get myself back on track,

Sylvia--Congrates on the great doctor report.

Welcome to all the new ladies. You have a found a great group. These ladies are my life line and keep me going when I want to give up.

Heather--I have found it some much harder to receive help then give it. I am trying to do better, but sure not easy. All your parties sound like so much fun. Wish you were closer as I could use your help with DH open house for his 60th birthday. So far I have the church rented and cakes ordered. Yesterday I went to the newspaper so they could put his picture and info about open house in next Sunday (Feb 23) paper. I guess I have not put anything in the paper lately. I was surprised to find it cost $53 to put 3 inch picture and Happy Birthday open house in the paper. But he will only be 60 once so its worth it. DC are to be firguring and doing the decoroating so be interesting to see how that works out. Great NSV!!

Joyce--sure not easy taking care of the spouse when they are sick. I just want them to be better NOW!! When we love someone we get upset, but in the end we love them and would not want them out of our lives. PLEASE take of you!!! Going back to bed sounds like a good start.

Carol--glad your DD's surgery went well. DS sounds like he did ok.

Vix--how scary and not getting a call back from doctor. Hope DH is doing better.

Patty--Congrates on getting a new grand daughter. I do believe Grand children are one of the best things God made and I love spending time with them and then sending them home.

Barbie--sorry to hear about your friend and her husband, but happy for you being able to teach class for awhile. It is not easy being happy when someone else is not.

Kayka-prayers and hugs to you and your friend. Happy early Birthday!! Congrates on the weight loss.

Meg--glad to hear from you. Good news about DH cousin, hope he keeps doing so well.
Well I am out of time for today and almost up to date so will work on reading more tomorrow. Have a safe and happy evening and prayers and hugs to each of you.
    Blessed, Vicki GI NE

Today marks 4 weeks since the fall. I can't believe how this has made me feel so old and helpless. I was terrified to go outside during the snow and ice. And then to top it off, we had an earthquake last night. Seriously! We felt it here, but I thought it was just a huge hunk of snow coming off the house. We don't have earthquakes in Georgia! I feel ready to get back to walking. I think tomorrow will be the day I attempt the whole 2.65 mile circle.

Loved the fire extinguisher valentine's gift. That has to be the best.

Welcome to the newbies. A trip to Jamaica does sound mighty inviting.

"Pat in OH: I used to be a stress eater but calorie counting put an end to that. I think chewing is the culprit because it releases some sort of endorphins that make a person feel more relaxed. The mental image of cows chewing their cud helped motivate me to quit chewing mine. Early on I substituted things like celery for higher calorie things like potato chips. "

Love my chips, but have learned to count them.....& no more than a serving per day ???? I often sub bread with lettuce leaves with
    Sandwich filling. Love the crunch!

Someone mentioned needing time to their self. When first married DH had a hard time understanding my need of quiet times.
That has always been a part of me.My parents had a near by creek with trees for shade. Many a summer day I made a sandwich, put it in my bike basket along with a book & spent time alone enjoying the book, the quiet & time to day dream.????????????

Supper was ????????,yummy & all accounted for.I do keep track of all,the good, bad & ugly.

Looking for temps in the 60's in a few dats.Snow will be gone! Of course the floods will follow. Some days we just can't win... Pat in Ohio

Hello everyone- back here since January 1- husband and I decided it was time we took our health seriously. We have been trying new recipes and keeping track on here and we are doing great. We both have diabetes- he takes insulin and I am on metformin. He has really had to adjust his insulin since we are eating healthier!! My doctor says mine will go away if I lose enough weight- that was 40 lbs last time I saw him in November- gained at least 10 lbs over the holidays, but I enjoyed every pound!!!(not now tho) I have enjoyed cooking our meals and the only time we eat out is on Sundays and that is at Subway!! I love the chicken teriyaki sub!! I have lost weight rather quickly as I had a lot of edema. Lost 17 lbs the first week- could not believe the scales!! It has slowed down now but I am still losing 2 lbs a week on average. Our church started exercise class three times a week. We are doing the Refit DVDs and I LOVE IT!! It is similar to Zumba, but we took breaks at first. Today I only took one break during the 45 minute DVD. Can't do everything exactly right, but I always keep moving and do the best I can. I can't wait to be able to jump!!
I will go for now- Good luck to everyone and let's keep those pounds erasing!!:smile:

LindaLou, so glad to have you here and it is wonderful that your daughter has signed up also. I'm sure there is a group likes ours here for her age group that had problems with cutting. They have a lot of groups here.

Charlie feels much better today. I asked him today if just going out last night to do his Karaoke thing and finding out that he could still have the energy to do it helped him. It is so hard for him to let me know any of his emotions, except anger of course. He will be leaving in a few minutes to go out again. I won't be as anxious waiting for him to come home tonight though. It made me feel a lot better to know he did OK. Our city had enacted a smoking ban in all bars, taverns and private clubs about a year ago but let our casino have an exemption. So a few small taverns and private clubs such as VFW appealed it and this week the Indiana Supreme court made them go back to the way it was. Most of the bars had found that they actually got more business by making it non smoking so most of his Karaoke haunts are smoke free. A couple of them immediately went back to smoking and so he has less places he will go to. His Saturday evening place is one of those. He will really miss this place if it is to smoky tonight. Some of the larger taverns built some really nice smoking patios and have had a good amount of success with both their smoking customers and the new non smoking customers.

I haven't got back in any kind of exercise habit since Charlie left the hospital. My body is still to tired. But I know that the longer I wait that it will be more difficult.

I can't imagine being a hospice nurse and being on a diet. It was hard enough just being a regular nurse but the stress of being in hospice would be so much greater. Plus the hospice unit my Mom was on was constantly kept well stocked with goodies by the volunteers and I know families brought a lot of things in to. To much temptation for me.

katla - and here I always thought that Mrs. Dash was high in sodium! I know that Adolph's meat tenderizer is. Learn something new every day.

jb - what a wonderful gift you got and so inventive!

Jane in CO - which car are you set on?

Did an hour of challenges today. First did the No nonsense Challenge that is longer (it has the lying flys in it), then did the one that is shorter. Then I did the Tank Top Arms one three times. At first I wasn't sure what was meant by "shoulder Presses" but then looking at the rest of the exercises, I'm pretty sure what was meant was a military press. Only used 8# weights for the bicep burners, I probably could have used 10# had I not done the full curls both arms at the same time. But I did. What I should have done was 4 half curls from middle to top and 4 from bottom to middle. I used 8# weights for the tricep kickbacks, the first two times I did the workout I did 15 on each arm, the third time I did 15 using both arms.

Now this may just be me, but I find that when doing the mountain climbers on the No Nonsense Circuit Challenge, my heartrate goes up. Then when I do the plank I find that I'm breathing real heavy. Is there any reason why I couldn't do the mountain climbers after the jumping jacks and before the squats?

Tomorrow I'm planning to do a DVD that I have of taichi.

Well, looks like we'll be leaving for FL Tuesday. I'm THINKING that we'll be staying until around March 4. That just means that my exercise has to change up since I'm not at home, have to be conscious of the other neighbors. But I do go to the Y down there, it's always interesting to see the changes.

Alison - I love seafood. Have a great dinner

yanniejannie - the Daytona race is the 23rd. There's this friend of mine, her daughter wants nothing to do with her and her husband. The daughter, her hubby, and their son go to my church. The other week the son was an altar server. You know, I wouldn't say anything to her because I don't have any proof, but to me, there's something wrong with her. I was surprised at how far apart she and her hubby were sitting. Then, after the mass, she quickly walked out of the church alone. It looks like the hubby was waiting for the son. To me, it just isn't right. She, to me, doesn't look real good either, she looks very thin. But, that may also be her makeup. Now her mother and her other sister are on the heavy side. But, like you said, can't fool mothers. I swear I knew something was wrong with Denise a while ago even before she told us. Sure enough, she was sick and had to go to the hospital.

DeeDee - why of course the weather is going to be georgeous, we're leaving! Like I said above, Vince said we'd probably leave Tuesday, at least that's the day I'm planning we're leaving (have to cancel things etc) and I'm planning we'll be coming back March 4. Now is that when we're coming back? I don't know. He probably doesn't even know. But that's what I'm planning on (how much clothes to take, etc). Fortunately, we have the washers down there so only have to pack clothes for 1/2 the time we're down there, then do laundry, and wear the clothes again. Vince is a person who needs his alone time, I'm not so much, I'd rather be with people

Went to drop off my Rummikub game at this gal's house who is hosting this month, then stopped at Lowes foods to get the asparagus they had on sale. I just don't like asparagus frozen so I'll take it to FL with me and finish it there. Then went to Bi-Lo to get things on sale and a few things we needed. Then home. I'll go to church later tonight and then home for dinner.

A few years ago someone at the Y bought a swimsuit that was chlorine resistant, only for some reason this one didn't fit her (I'm suspecting that maybe she didn't like the color), so I bought it. It really wasn't that expensive, and I think I've had it for 2 years so far. Admitted, I only wear it to the Y once/week. But the suits I used to get at penney's or Kohl's I only wore once/week and the chlorine did wear them away. So in the end, I'm coming out ahead.

Paulette, Linda, and Kim - welcome!

Sandy - (swirling arms in a circle in front of her) oh yea, oh yea, oh yea. You know something, you're helping all of us because we're dancing with you and dancing burns calories!

Pat in Ohio - I found that the suits I would get at Kohl's, althought they might be low in price, really didn't hold up well at all. Now they might do better in our pool since it's salt water and not chlorine. Haven't tried it. After the problem I had ordering a suit, the company sent me one (probably to shut me up) but it didn't say "chlorine resistant". the reason I ordered from them was because their suits were chlorine resistant. So I'm wearing the one they sent me in our pool.

Alison - on your way down to see Gail, don't forget to pick me up!!! Hey, I'll make it easy for you, I'll meet you at DeeDee's so you can get both of us at the same time.

Carol in NC - You go girl!!!!!

Linda_Lou - so glad the biopsy turned out good

Stephanie - I can only encourage you to log everything, no matter how bad you think it might be. Sometimes you'll find that it really isn't all that bad. No one here is going to beat you up if you go over. We've all been there.

katie - I had heard that there was an earthquake in GA and thought of you. Glad you're safe

mamajane - welcome. Sounds like you and dh are well on your way

    Michele in NC
