Yes, let's discuss hate and the internet. Four kids beat up a fifth, stole his money and skate board, and carved a freaking swastika into his forehead because he called their friend "gay" online. On top of that, now most of the news stories report that it may have been in retaliation to "bullying" because people are so used to viewing one negative online comment as actual bullying now. This is an extreme example, but I seriously believe people are losing their ability to differentiate things that really affect them and words on a screen.

This scares the hell out of me.

So someone told you Colon Blow is a poor weight loss plan, and that your magic pills are a waste of money? Get over it, it wasn't personal, but it was someone trying to be helpful. You can ignore them or better still you can listen to them and then do some actual research.

The *kitten* you save could be your own.

I'm not Canadian, but curling is awesome. It's the only spectator sport that makes you feel stoned.

This is the thread that prompted this post, just for reference:

Disagreeing with someone or being blunt is not hate. I doubt anyone on this website cares enough about anyone else here to actually hate them.

This is heavily on my mind because I watched The Monuments Men earlier this week. There is a scene where they're looking for art the Nazis stole and they come across some barrels filled with little bits of gold. One character reaches in, looks a little more closely and says, simply, "Those are the teeth."

I don't think I need to explain what that means.

That, my dears, is hate. What happens on this website is human interaction and some people simply clash in personality and manner. It is not hate.
Hey, don't speak for me. I hate everyone!

I don't think people are mean on here. The Knot- ****ing *****es. My first post there the forum regulars told me I shouldn't be getting married because I didn't have enough money.

I should start posting over there. I bet what I have planned for my wedding would blow their minds.

    DO IT!
Not today. but I'll let you all know when I decide to field trip so you can watch.

Please? Because this would be so fun to watch!

I've never been over there, but how can there be regulars? Do they just keep getting married, or are they just bored newlyweds with nothing better to do than tell people not to have a cash bar? Ok, you know what? I may have to check them out for recreational reading, LOL...

Some people take a LONG time to plan a wedding. Plus I'm sure people get to know each other and stick around to talk about wedding stuff.

But even if it's always a new crop. I imagine they all have the same "issues."

I agree tough love an honesty are good but there are appropriate ways of saying it calling someone a slut or skank for the way they dress not appropriate way to tell them that in your opinion modesty is better

If I had fewer people I need to invite (around 100) I would probably be able to do it for so cheap. Or if I had a bigger house or something. We will have to rent a venue just to accomodate and the cheapest I can find that has an indoor area (Florida in the summer ...) is $1,600. I can do everything else really cheap, but that's going to eat up most of the budget.

MFP is like the movie "Groundhogs Day". Every day on the forums there seems to be a "Stop being mean. We are all here for the same thing" thread and a "We're not being mean. We're just answering a question" thread. As we all know consistency is key:drinker:
