The salty, fatty, greasy, crunchy goodness of bacon is heaven for the tongue. Bacon goes great with just about anything. It an be eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert depending on how you prepare it and what you pair it with. People will have meltdowns f they don't satisfy their craving for bacon, scrapple...not so much.0

Next time you go out for b'fast, see if the place offers scrapple as a side. I don't think you can get it at IHOP, but you have to be able to find it in NYC. Scrapple will change your life...or maybe not. It's still good though!0 -
Not a lot of scrapple in NYC diners... even in Northern NJ it is harder to come by.0

If it's like spam, then it went out of fashion in the UK in 1979!!!!
It was revived a few years ago, but only as a Westend stage show!0 -
Scrapple? By the name alone, I wouldn't eat it. It sounds like something you might feed to animals?0

It's bacon, how can you not love it!0

I'm in Philadelphia where Scrapple is king. That being said, it's pure nasty and basically the stuff that you wouldn't buy as real meat. Give me bacon every day!
For those not from these parts, here's the Wikipedia description:
Scrapple, also known by the Pennsylvania Dutch name pon haus,[1][2] is traditionally a mush of pork scraps and trimmings combined with cornmeal and wheat flour, often buckwheat flour, and spices. The mush is formed into a semi-solid congealed loaf, and slices of the scrapple are then pan-fried before serving. Scraps of meat left over from butchering, not used or sold elsewhere, were made into scrapple to avoid waste. Scrapple is best known as a rural American food of the Mid-Atlantic states (Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia). Scrapple and pon haus are commonly considered an ethnic food of the Pennsylvania Dutch, including the Mennonites and Amish. Scrapple is found in supermarkets throughout the region in both fresh and frozen refrigerated cases.
:noway:
People actually buy this crap?!0 -

Scrapple is the best breakfast meat! It's basically the "scraps" of the pig in loaf form with various spices. You flour and fry it. Crispy on the outside and creamy, porky goodness on the inside!
Nope...Nope..Nope...Bacon!!!

It's a big deal here in PA/DE, but you won't find it on the menu in NYC or North Jersey.
I'll take breakfast sausage and maple syrup over Scrapple AND bacon any day :drinker:0 -

Yeah, I live in MD, and we have scrapple and Old Bay. Errr...now I want scrapple with Old Bay on it.
Sounds yummy! I must try that. I normally put maple syrup and pepper on my scrapple.
Great, now I gotta get me some scrapple....hungry for scrapple....0 -

YES! THIS is scrapple! My breakfast meats go in this order: scrapple, sausage, bacon (still not that obsessed).0 -
Bacon is awesome! Everyone knows that, but for some reason people think it's somehow a cool thing to always talk about bacon. True bacon lovers worship in silence and don't have to prove their love for bacon 24/7.
I agree with this too. I think people's "bacon obsession" makes me not like it as much as I probably should. Also as a kid, my mom would cook it for b'fast some school mornings...nothing worse than being a chubby kid AND smelling like bacon!!!0 -
What's there not to love about bacon?? It's 100 times - Bacon.0 -
Please explain to me why everyone loves bacon so much?
I prefer Scrapple. I don't care if it is the "scraps" either. I choose Scrapple!
It is one of those obnoxious hipster type fads when something average is propped up to be "amazing" in some kind of ironic way to the point that the general public jumps on board and the irony is completely lost. Pabst Blue Ribbon becoming a thing is the quintessential example of this phenomena.0 -
I love all types of bacon, but really favour British Bacon. and Bangers (really any good sausage though). I've had scrapple and it was damn tasty , but my ideal breakfast is a couple of slices of british bacon, some Black Pudding, Home Fries, 2 over easy eggs, Baked Beans(Home made no canned crap) Fried Mushrooms in cream, and a fried roma tomato (AKA a Full Monty - hte perfect hangover cure and you can make it through a whole day until dinner on it - it's also one of the reasons I'm now counting calories and dieting  )
