Okay, I need everyone's help.
The last 4 runs that I have done, I have been getting a serious side stitch on my right side under my chest strap for my HRM. I am warming up the same way as before. Doing several balistic stretches before stepping outside and then walking to a certain point at a brisk pace until I get to my starting site. After just a few minutes of jogging my side starts to really hurt and I try to run through it and it either gets worse or stays the same. I then walk for a short time to try to get it to go away and when it does I start jogging again and it starts up again and I do this a couple of times before it finally goes away and I can finish strong. Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to make this either subside or not happen at all???? Thank you in advance for all your help.
Have a beautiful weekend. :0)~0 -

I hope that everyone had a good weekend. Mine was really good. Saturday I did my 4 mile run and ate well all day except for dinner and boy was it nice to cheat. I had done clean eating for 20 days straight and I thought it was good to throw in the cheat meal. Had band practice yesterday as well and it was AWESOME!!! Our new drummer is amazing. I am really excited to get out and play with this band, we are gonna rock. I intended this band to be more Rock, but it has become a little more Bluesy. That is not a bad thing. I guess my voice really does it well or the guys would be telling me I suck. LOL Yesterday we worked on "Black Velvet" and it was amazing. When we play out and get some of it recorded I will post it.
Today was a really good day as well. I pretty much have done nothing. I slept in and it felt really nice, since I am still kinda sick. Finally mid afternoon I decided to get dressed and workout and it was a great workout. I did my strength training and then TurboFire 45 EZ Class. Don't be fooled by the EZ, it was not, but it was a great class. Will be soon eating my Salmon for dinner, salivating just thinking about it. LOL
Have a great evening everyone and I will talk to you all again soon. :bigsmile:0 -
Where is everybody? Afraid to weigh in? Don't be, we are all here to cheer you on no matter what. With no prejudice at all. We are here to support one another through the good times and bad. I miss you girls.
I did another 4 mile run this morning and it went pretty well. I did go a little slower to keep from getting that darn side stitch again and it worked. It may have tried to show up, but I would not let it stay. LOL My legs were a little tired and stiff this morning, so I am sure that had something to do with the slower motion as well. At least I did it, that is all that matters. Tonite will be a new DVD for my from TurboFire, HIIT 25 Class, I am looking forward to it.
Can't wait to hear how everyone's weekend went. :bigsmile:0 -
Had a great weekend. We had a girls weekend and my mom's 59th birthday party. I ate very well all weekend and even made my own dinner at the party. While everyone else had bbq and cake, I had a wrap and steamed squash. I just don't think I am ready to cheat yet. It wasn't too tough to say no though. Didn't get as much exercise as usual this weekend, but just rode the stationary bike for 35 minutes and burned 350 calories. It felt good !
jjtonic- awesome job on the weight loss this week! I am glad you beat the plateau!
Back to work tomorrow which is a good thing. I will have a little more structure which is easier for me. Good night all!0 -
Kelsey, great job this weekend with your food choices. I know how tough that can be. Happy birthday to your momma also. Sounds like you had a great time. Keep up the good work and have a wonderful week. :bigsmile:0

Hello Hello
I hope everyone had a good weekend!
My weekend was very good. i didn't track any of my food and I eat exactly what I wanted! It was nice, but this time for the first time, i was actually looking forward to getting back to eating healthy and tracking what I ate! And I went for a run today. It was very short, about eleven minutes was all I could do. I guess I didn't realize how long I've been off. But the cardio should come back more quickly than it did before, and I found a new running schedule that I think will work much better. And I'm going to aim for 3 times a week instead of 4, for the first little while at least. Anyways, i really just wanted to thank you jj for your support. I though about what you said about just putting on your running shoes and doing it. And how much better you feel after, and as I knew you would be...you were totally right! I hope your cold is clearing up. Sounds like you've had that one for a while0 -
Hey,
I am new. My Goal is too go to my scheduled bootcamp sessions. At least 2 per week. I havent been sleeping well and all I want to do is go home and chill out. I am cal counting which I find easy cept eating back calories when exercising (but i don't want to go into that)
anyway motivation would be good.

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. It is nice on ocassion to just give in and not really worry about anything. It is also great that you know how to come back out of it so quickly. That is what this new lifestyle is all about. KUDOS!!! You are doing great. Glad you got a run in. How did you feel afterwards? I am sure better. Sounds like you have a good plan of attach to get back into running as well. Do your best and forget the rest. I am so proud of you.
My cold is better, thank you for asking. Just the sniffles mainly now with the ocassional sneezing attach.
I did get in my 4 mile run this morning. I have to say that I was not sure how it was going to go. When I woke up, I felt very sore and not really wanting to run. But, I got out there and the soreness went away and I really had an amazing run. 11:13 pace, not bad for me. I am getting better. :drinker: I did figure out why I was so sore and am still sore is because of a new workout I did yesterday morning with TurboFire. It was Tone 30 and it was a good class. I really didn't think it was that intense, but obviously I was wrong. Another TurboFire workout tonite and tomorrow morning will be core and stretch. I am so looking forward to that. My body is screaming for it.
Welcome Jayjay, glad you are here with us. You know, I did have problems sleeping before I started working out on a regular basis and since then I have been sleeping tons better. The exercise just help you relax more. I tend to workout best in the evening after work and right before bed time and I sleep like a baby. They say not to workout right before you go to bed, but it seems to be the best for me.
Of course, they also say working out in the morning is the best time for most people and that keeps your energy level up for the day and your metabolism working hard for you all day. Everyone is so different on what works best for them. Just find what your body feels most comfortable and go with it.
With motivation, I would suggest a couple of things. Find a picture of someone you admire and post it where you will see it everyday and picture them telling you that YOU CAN DO IT!!! Maybe even if you have a special event coming up, make a small goal to lose 5 pounds to get into that fantastic outfit you have been eyeballing. Also, remember that we are here for you and are your support and encouragement. If you feel like giving up or giving in, come here and post about it. There will be someone here to tell you NO. :drinker: Or just help you through it. Just remember why you are in the first place, to feel better about yourself. Water is definitely a BIG MUST when wanting to lose weight. It helps flush things out and it just good for you.
Okay, I could keep going and going. Ask questions and we will be here to help. I wish you the best of luck in your journey to a happier and healthier lifestyle.:bigsmile:0 -
Hi everyone! Tomorrow is my weigh in day and I am excited. I have done well this week. I have finally started to increase my walk times as well as the speed of my walk. If I could just get my shins to cooperate, I would be doing great!
On the last episode of the biggest loser, they made these 100 calorie cupcakes, so I decided to try them out. I am not a very good cook, and after following the recipe perfectly, they turned out horrible. Oh well. My husband said he would give it a try for me. He is a much better cook. My son took one bite of it and said, "never mind mom, I don't want a cupcake." I am going to look at the recipes on here and try to find a low cal sweet treat.
BTW... my husband watched a show on discovery about the body clock and best time to work out. It said it is best to work out in the evenings for several reasons. Of course, I could not find the episode. I did find several articles and here is part of one of them.
Staying Fit by the Body Clock
Consistency is key in keeping a healthy sleep schedule. There's a best time for you to eat, exercise, and more.
By Katie Gilbert, published on July 01, 2006 - last reviewed on August 28, 2009
Wait to work out.
Regardless of your inner clock, the optimal work-out time is in the afternoon and early evening. During the second half of the day, the body's systems are geared up for action; the heart and lungs are performing most efficiently and the body is most limber.
Keep gym times consistent.
Everyone from novices to Olympians will get more from working out at the same time each day. Weight lifters who exercise at the same time consistently gain more power than those who work out at a variety of times during the day. This need for routine is considered important enough that circadian rhythm specialists help organize Olympic event scheduling.
Circadian type can give you a leg up.
Just as some sports, such as baseball or tennis, offer advantages based on right- or left-handedness, others favor early birds or night owls. The extreme owl may be at a disadvantage when playing golf, generally done in the morning or early afternoon. If you're an owl, try nighttime basketball or soccer.
Best time to exercise
Early Birds: between 4pm and 6pm
Night Owls: between 5:30pm and 7:30pm
You might want to look it up. It is pretty interesting.
Hope everyone has a great night!0 -

Happy monday everyone! Hope everyone had a great weekend. All I really need to focus on for the weekends is drinking more water. Other than that, I did great! I joined to lose 30 lbs by Christmas challenge for fun, so I am going to go for a 45 minute walk/jog. I haven't really starting jogging yet, but I think I am ready to try a little. Hope everyone has a great day!!0

Have you tried the Couch to 5K program? It is a great program and got me to where I am today, training for a half-marathon. Cheering you on all the way.
This morning was another 4 mile run and it went pretty well. It is weird how my foot was throbbing when I woke up this morning and while walking around the house, but as soon as I put on my running shoes and started to warm up, it started to subside and then once I started running it did not hurt at all. I guess that is a good thing, because I don't want to have to go to the doctor and he tell me to stop running, because I will not stop. I have exactly 9 weeks of training left and exactly 9 weeks till my half, no time to stop. I will do a TurboFire HIIT workout tonite and tomorrow will be my rest day. :bigsmile:0 -
Thanks for the advice. I looked it up and am going to start tomorrow on the couch to 5k program. I have never been a huge fan of running, but who knows, I might change my mind.0
-
I HATED running. Until last year when I started again. I found that finding a program that was paced really slowly was good for me. I am much better at interval running then I am pure distance. It's all about starting slowly and doing what works for you. My dog also really helps me get out there. It's hard to stay at home when he's standing by the door, looking at me everytime I walk past. Do you have any pets?0
-
I have two dogs. One is too old but the younger one would probably love it. He is a little spastic though. The only trouble I have is that I am typically home with the kids and the hubby works evenings. That is why I walk at lunch here at work and do the stationary bike in the evenings at home. I could probably sneak out on the weekends though. I might give the dog a try!0

Honestly, me either. I actually refused to run when told to. I did not think that my body was made for running. I am so thankful for the C25K program, it has changed my life and perspective on what I can do. It is absolutely amazing. Just take it one day at a time and tell yourself you can do it. No negative self talk. I know you can do it. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I am by no means, a professional, but I have been running for just over a year and have learned so much. There are also C25K threads on MFP that you can join to help with encouragement and support. I wish you the best of luck with the program. :bigsmile:0 -

Hello!
I have a question for you guys: What do you do when your friends/family don't support your need to lose weight. Well, it's not really that they don't support it, they just aren't doing it too. Do you eat separate meals and different times? Do you just have to prioritize it and try to fit yourself in when you can? How do you deal with it?0
