Great advice: Only thing I don't agree with is...

    11. Eat real food. Not diet food. Not "low fat, sugar free, now without X." It's easier to get/find/count.

I don't think that is true. Diet pop is easy to find and count - zero. Also almost everything that is low fat, sugar free or now without X are likely to be found quite easily in the database here and/or will have nutritional panels right on them.

I have nothing against fat or sugar for the record (in fact love both), but quite often sugar free/low fat will also mean less calories, and for some people that is a massive benefit (speaking from personal experience).

Overall though amazing post everyone should read.

Eating real food is actually better than the low fat, sugar free, now without x because to get it low fat, sugar free, or without x they actually have to put a whole bunch of chemicals/crap in it to get it that way. So while you think it might be better for you, yeah, that's quite debatable. You can eat the real thing and lose weight. Trog's proof. 153 lbs down.

This was and still is the most encouraging and useful advice I've EVER received regarding weight loss. Plus coming from a guy that has successfully removed 153lbs...pure street cred. Too legit to quit.

Finally - a great starting pointing! I couldn't agree more... especially about finding what works for you! And let me add... what works now, may not work 6 months or even 6 weeks from now. Be patient and learn to tweak your calories, food or exercise throughout your weight loss -- and maintenance!
