Terrible study, 26 total participants, self reporting of diet, laughable...0

The real tragedy is that your research and opinion comes from extremely biased sources including this one..........yet your not embarrassed about it. That whole video was laughable.........comical actually and I really can't believe you actually used that as some kind of evidence.0

Great video, thanks.0

This.
Whenever I see a diet related study that relies on self reporting, I instantly click off and move on.0 -
self reporting = not watching0

Well I'm converted.
Just off to the green grocers to buy some fruit.0 -

No to self reporting :noway:0 -
That 26-person study was published 14 years ago. Did he define low carb? I might have missed it.0

true, but it supports the OP's worldview, so we should just accept it as a statement of fact0 -

And the circle is complete.0 -
Horrible study - hardly scientific. And from a horrible source - a vegan propaganda site. I'm sure there's no agenda though ...
I'm fine with people wanting to be vegan - that's their choice. But there is simply NO health or medical reason for it. None whatsoever.0 -

But the facts are against you on this one. There is NO medical reason whatsoever to adopt a vegan diet.
If veganism is so natural to human beings, why can't it be done without supplementation? Why are there NO vegan cultures in the history of the world? Why, when we eat only fruit and vegetables, do we get sick and DIE?
C'mon man - you're deluding yourself if you think that a "plant-based" diet is what humans were designed to eat. We're omnivores. We NEED the nutrients that come from animal products, or else we need to supplement (with processed products that would never occur in nature, fyi) - that's a fact. Even vegan doctors and dieticians know it, so I'm not sure why you don't.0 -
We don't need the nutrients found in animal products, nutrition comes from plants. Where does the animal get it's nutrition? There are many healthy vegans, and a lot of old vegans that are healthy. Studies show that vegans live longer than meat eaters, pescatarians, vegetarians, etc. There is only one thing that vegans need to supplement, and that is B12, which comes from bacteria, not meat. Every nutrient, mineral, anti-oxidant, essential amino acid and essential fatty acid, is found in the plant kingdom. Eating animals is unnecessary for nutrients; people eat animals for other reasons.0

Why, when we eat only fruit and vegetables, do we get sick and DIE?
NOBODY gets sick and dies from eating a fruit and vegetable based diet, unless they go years without eating seeds or nuts, and they STILL live longer than meat eaters and vegetarians.0 -

Yes, vegan dieters get sick and die - it happens, there's scores of reports of it. Without supplementing a vegan diet you will become deficient, period. Unfortunately some of the deficiencies take as long as 3 years to fully manifest. As mentioned, vegan Dr's and Dieticians know this, and this is WHY they recommend supplementation.
EVERY single medical doctor and dietician who has adopted veganism stresses the importance of supplementation, period. EVERY SINGLE ONE. Check their websites, books, etc. They all do - even though those supplements do NOT exist in a natural state.
How do you explain the lack, in the history of the earth, of ANY vegan culture. Chimpanzees, bonobos and gorillas are all omnivores. Why on EARTH would you think we're not? Really?0 -

Even Dr. Michael Greger (YOUR source from nutritionfacts.org) agrees that vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters have similar mortality. He learned this when he studied the events surrounding the heart attack of 66 year old Jay Dinshah - leader of the American Vegan Society. Look it up, feel free to counter it ... except Dr. Michael Greger will tell you that himself.
Sure you can get nutrients and protein by NOT eating animals, but you MUST supplement. It's an ethical choice only. There is no scientific or medical argument for veganism or vegetarianism.
You really need to look at INDEPENDENT views of things, instead of relying on what DurianRider or some other B12-deficient ignorant zealot would have you believe.0 -
