Have you (can you) lose weight in your nose?
Wasn't sure which category to post this under… I guess it's "chit chat".
Anywhoo, I know when you lose weight your face usually gets smaller, but does your nose? I've seen before and after pictures and some people look like their nose got smaller/stayed the same, but some have a bigger nose. My nose is on the larger side and I'm just curious how it will look after I've reached my goal…. kind of scared it'll look bigger. What are you thoughts… experience?

Hope not srs question.0 -
Your nose is cartilage...0
-
very serious I'm afraid
I know it's a cartilage, but can it shrink?0 -
As the poster above you said, the nose is cartilage. Cartilage cannot be molded, unless shattered into many many many tiny pieces by a surgeon/accident.
Pinching also does not work o.o0 -
Okay.. I suppose this deserves more than just that. As fat decreases certain features that do not do so may become more pronounced and I suppose if you have really chubby cheeks (which you do not) your nose could look bigger, I guess.. but it wouldn't actually be any bigger. If cartilage shrunk or grew with weight loss and gain there isn't a man alive who wouldn't seek to gain a few hundred extra pounds.0

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks you two. It was a silly question, I know, but I've been thinking about it all day. LOL.0

This is the Chit-Chat Forum, there is no such thing as a question to silly here!0

Us girls wanna lose weight all over lol I'm so glad the nose can't get smaller cause I'd have nothing lol0

Cartilage does not shrink. It can be clipped off by a surgeon/accident, but it does not shrink.0
-
but don't you have fat on your nose too?

Silly or not, good question to ask since well.... it's the center of your face! For me, my nose has shrunk. It was huge and bulbous before and started looking like a round ball. But as I've lost and my face thinned (I lost 50lbs. prior to this last run), it has gotten less round. I don't think my nose actually got larger or smaller, per se. I think it was more that my face was getting so round from fat before that it was bunching up around it. Like your collar bones. They are bones and don't change, but as you lose and that fat goes away, you can see them! Same with your facial features. My face looks more like it did in high school now, thankfully. Not because I miss high school, but because I look more normal! I had contemplated a nose job until I saw recent pics and realized my nose looked normal again. Yay weight loss!0

^What about his?
You just see it differently. Noses do not collect fat like the rest of the body. I've still got my nose and my huge dumbo ears and unless they're trimmed by a certified surgeon/some sort of body modification/an accident, they will remain the same.0 -
Sinisterly... I was going to bed before I saw that. Why couldn't that one picture be broken like the rest? DAMN IT ALL!0

The last couple is just a different angle.0

Thanks for the smile, interesting thing to ponder0 -
Your ears and your nose are the only body parts that continue to grow throughout your life, right up until the day you die, and ears also elongate due to gravity.
But I personally don't think nose or ear size matters as much to a person's attractiveness as their personality or intelligence.0 -
True, could be differant angles, but something tells me you can lose weight in your nose…. maybe it just depends on genetics or something.0

*shrugs* I didn't say the actual NOSE changed, but that the fat on my face AROUND my nose made the difference. Go to the thread on 'drastic face changes after weight loss' on here and you can see what I mean. I don't think my actual nose changed -- I think it just looked bulbous before and now doesn't because of the shift in my weight. Of course, angle can play a part -- especially in non-planned photos. But I think it may also depend on your face shape and body shape. I'm overall an hourglass so when I put on weight, I put it on all over. I have friends with other builds and even though they may go up 25lbs, their face stays the same. I still have a round/button style nose, but it looks so much better. But for a long time when I was heavy, I thought I was stuck with it. Let me see if I can find and post a pic of what I'm talking about.
If that worked, you can see what I mean. When I was in the 220's, my cheeks were much rounder and full pushing fat up around my nose making the bridge area look wider... which to me made my whole nose look bigger. The next pic is more current... I was in the low 180's there (I'm in the 170's now). I think my nose looks MUCH smaller and better suits my face!0 -
I think it's just like anything else...for some people, it really changes, and for others it does not.
I don't think my nose looks that different now compared to when I was 120 lb heavier. In fact my face has not even changed that drastically except that I have a sharper/no double chin.
I know a girl whose face changed drastically with her weight loss of about 60 lb, to the point that several people asked if she had a nose job. Her larger nose looks more angular now and I'll admit it was a bit disconcerting the first few photos I saw of her but once I got used to seeing it, and saw her "irl" she looked so much prettier and healthier that her 'new' nose suits her very well!!0 -

I think that is such a perfect example!! You look wonderful!0 -
If you want to spot reduce that area, balance a q-tip on the end of your nose and crinkle it. 3 sets of 12 reps. Total fat buster!0
-
I think my nose weighs less when I pick all the stuff out of it.0

I believe it has more to do with swelling than weight gain. Noses do swell and go down. They may be shaped by cartilage but there ARE blood vessels and muscles there. They especially can swell during pregnancy (where EVERYTHING swells). It just happens to those who are more prone to swelling in their face. My sisters and I were that way.0
-
When I gain weight, my nose gets fatter. More than likely no one notices but me.0
